Door Closer had many ways how to install. Anybody can follow the instruction manual or it depend to the installer installation technique As long as the parallel arm is level to the door Closer. Cheers!
If you went to all that trouble why would you use wood screw and not self tapping screws or drill and tap for 1/4 -20 screws . Most good quality closures come with a Combination of wood and metal screws . As a locksmith and security hardware Consultant I find this somewhat misleading information.

Should have read the instructions... the main arm goes on after closer body mounted to the door .
