You are an incredible talent Tim, and my, what a beautiful job well done. I just bought a lovely 1902 house, but similarly the poor thing needs restoring, updating, insulating(!), converting and and and.. gutting basically. I can see you know how that goes. It is almost bizarre though, like you know my taste and my needs as each and every one of the projects you tackle are on my long list of ‘to dos’, I mean, you even converted your garage to a workshop. I couldn’t ask for more. You are thorough, particular, a great craftsman and produce great videos to boot. I’m sooo glad I found you, I’m only sad I can’t hire you. Keep them coming Tim, and thank you so much for all the extra time it takes to get these videos out for us, it is very much appreciated and a great help.
What a talented guy. I’m 6 years in to a renovation myself. I knew nothing at the start but slowly learning. Still light years behind this guy in terms of knowledge and skill. I’m also struggling with energy and motivation but slowly getting there.
I absolutely love doing balustrading, I completed a five story continuous hardwood balustrade least month, now that was a job and a half! 🙂 Nice work mate
@@odds-and-sods I'll be happy to correspond with you via email or WhatsApp to guide you through it unless you live anywhere near Manchester, then I could help you out in person.
I love that you chose the staircase to wrap up the year. The staircase is what brought me to your channel. All of your projects is why I remain. Looking forward to seeing your future endeavors here! 🏚️🛠️👷♂️
that the best staircase renovation that i have seen, very good an nice work!! i have also a 120 year old staircase and working over a year on them and im stil not done with the work .nice job and cool video
What an amazing job! I’m late to the party, but a search for staircase rennovation was how I came across this video. The lower part of your staircase is similar to ours, so I’ll be rewatching to get some tips. We already have the wooden posts, etc, but would like to re stain and paint them, plus perhaps paint the stairs and put a runner going up. Looking forward to watching more of your projects!
Your video on the lap jointed newel post was the first of yours that I watched. Can't believe it was only this year. I think I've watched pretty much all of your content now and always pleased to see a new video out. If you make your resolution to set up patreon then I'll make it mine to patronise you, so to speak. Have a great new year and thanks for all the great content in 2018.
The things we adults take for granted. @6:33, climbing those stairs like it’s the final stage of Everest. 😂 Imagine being a kid again just for one day.
Nice work Tim. I only found you guys this year (2018) great work as usual. All being well me and the family are moving into our forever home this next month, and there are lots of jobs to do including turning the stairs back to the original. So I’ll be sure to keep following, keep it up it’s inspired me to start my own channel although the wife isn’t too keen on that! 😂
Happy New Year to you All... What a great channel, I've not long found you but I love the work, home renovation and video both. Keep up the fantastic content and here's looking forward to a wonderful 2019...
Turned out excellent compared to how it started. Imagine all of the effort that went into installing that initial rail back in the 70s/80s or whenever it was done. We have horizontal bars on our stairs and I'd love to have the classic vertical spindles back in place, however I lack the skills, tools, time and patience!
Great job! Did one of these myself as a DIY project, removing a horrid 70's 3 plank banister design and setting in new newell posts and spindles up a one and a half turn staircase. Worst part was painting all the spindles! Totally worth it though for the lifting effect it had on the interior.
Glad to see them restored to what they should be, it's almost criminal what the previous owner did to them staircases! They look great now! All the best to your family for 2019.
That was a MASSIVE JOB.... I remember thinking at the time...better you than me!. Turned out fabulous though and you must be proud every time you walk them....Happy New Year to you all....😍😘🇦🇺
Linda it's actually relatively small as far as the amount of balustrading, last month I completed a five story continuous hardwood balustrade. Twelve and a half Newel posts, thirty metres of hand and base rail and 170 spindles. I wish that is taken a video now. He had put the work in and massage a very nice job of it though! 👍🙂
An excellent job Tim. Don't know how you manage filming as well as the work, my similar channel suffers as a result of this aspect. Hats off to ya and wishing you a great 2019
Great job! Happy new year! Really admire your energy. I have a similar project and a small child and can not get the time to go half your pace ;) good work!
My compliments on your channel and this particular job. Outstanding!! Love to see more in 2019 and keep up the good work. Kind regards, Gerlof from Holland
Great work, staircases are fiddly but rewarding. A video on how to measure and cut correctly the stair parts would be good, I cocked this up last time, with pine so I could fill. Too scared to do oak / exposed wood cuts like that without a more foolproof measurement method
Hi new subscribe here. Great work 👍 I am very inspired to tackle our own set of stairs now.. don’t know if I can achieve same result, but will give it a go :)
Beautiful work, Tim. Your thoughtful planning and meticulous execution make such a difference. Happy New Year to you, Jo, Eden, Faith and the rest of the family, both present and future.
Happy New Year Tim & Family! I don't think I've seen any video of the tiled floor getting any attention, maybe it's fine, but we have a few cracked / stained tiles that I'm keen to tackle...

MAGNIFICENT!!! Truly a labor of love. Thank you for sharing.
I love the technique you used to restore and match up the step nosing and finishing trim pieces, they look so right
Wasn’t easy and a lot more fiddly that it looks on 10 seconds of video but worked out great. 👍
@@TheRestorationCouple I watched the original video, so I know how testing it was but the result was definitely worth it! :)
I did not forget the amount of work you put into those stairs.
🎆HAPPY NEWYEAR🎆
all the very best for 2019
This is my favorite video of the year. I enjoyed watching the process as it happened and the compalation is spot on. thanks

Nice work mate. You are so attentive to the details, omg
Ah that took me back to my learning days too … so much learnt and so many tools bought ! … good stuff matey.

Happy New Year to you and your family!
This is absolutely !!! Beautiful!!
Happy New Year to you and your family, Tim
Very impressive - well done! How did you secure the top newel post - looks like just glue?
I think it was glue and screws... not sure it'd cope with me tripping and falling against it
Masterfully done! Thank you for all the videos. Happy New Year to you and your family!
What a fantastic job!
Happy new year.

This is fab. Looks great. What paint did you use to paint the stairs please? I am looking to do mine. Happy new year.

Nice job 😍😍😍
Great job on the staircases, luckily no stairs to deal with on my project as I'm building a bungalow over here in France.

Excellent video. Your an inspiration. Where did you learn all your skills or is it a case of learn as you go?
Learn as i go, with a bit of research first. Working so far! 😀
the look on your face when the little girl is going upstairs babling , priceless
