    Thank you - nice catch! The holes also help the printer identify the size of the tape (or tubing) and max size of the font used. So if you blind some holes you lose this functionality, but the size of the font can be adjusted manually in printer settings.

    If you are worried about the text rubbing off, you can just get clear-ish tube, and I think the yellow on black would show up just fine. Thicker, obviously. But sometimes you want to keep that label around forever.

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah you could do that, for me personally it's not necessary, it's good enough as it is for bench use.

      That's how I'm doing it with plain labels. Clear heatshrink over the top to stop them pealing off. No problem with visibility.

    I don't use that, I prefer a simple paper label with adhesive tape (so, already protected because the tape), but is always interesting to know new possibilities. When I want to protect something painted, I use clear barnish, lacquer, epoxi or something like that, very cheap, you only need here like a drop, just choose the correct one, for rigid or flexible pieces. Thanks for sharing !

    The shrink labels used in professional harness shops aren’t much different so far as being able to scratch off the print, in applications where legibility was utmost a section of clear shrink tube would be applied over the label.

    • @voltlog

    I tried this on a PTouch PT-P710BT and confirmed that it works with the AliExpress cartridges. The printer checks for size as well as the type of cartridge installed and the 5.8mm tubes read as 9mm, 9mm read as 9mm (same hole pattern as shown in the video) and the 11.8mm read as 3.5mm and was missing the hole closest to where the tube exits the cartridge (when I added a hole it read 9mm as well). The app allows you to read what type of cartridge is installed and will tell you what it is supposed to be which means I could possibly try them all and see what it spits out.

      It requires several actions and it’s also problematic when you shrink it as the label inside gets creased. Fine for one or two but 20 starts to take a lot of time

    If this is a thermal printing process, how come the shrink tube does not change color when shrinking it with heat?

    • @dark0l0rd

    Can somebody help me? I have bought a H107. Now, since I hate batteries, I have drilled a hole and installed a socket for adaptor plug, connected (with a schottky for polarity protection) where the cables from the battery end. Now, if I remove the batteries and plug a 9v adaptor, the H107 does not turn on and the meter senses 15v at the input. With the batteries on, it senses about 8v, 7.5v when it’s on. With a 5v adaptor, it senses 13v and still it does not turn on. Also I have tried other adaptors just in case. I feel so noob, I don’t know what I should do to use my H107 without batteries.
