I have 2 routers in our house and I want my own router in my room should I do the exact same and place it next to me? Please reply ASAP
What if the ISP provides build in wireless router in modem?
Is there a monthly charge for using a cable modem and wireless router? I plan to get a wireless router with a built in cable modem for my bedroom if Im not paying monthly to use it.
MrWill1985 This may be late but Some internet providers will give a modem and router to you and charge you for them but as long as you are all ready paying for internet then you can buy your own and just pay once when you buy the modem and router.
No monthly fees
Just need to make sure you get one compatible with your isp.
I have Wi-Fi from spectrum at home and my brother lives somewhere else and wants to buy a wireless router to connect to my Wi-Fi can he do that.
Thank you this helped me alot
so I am thinking of buying a wireless router and taking it over seas and using it there will it work as I have a router that sucks if I plug in the same cables will it work
verrrrrry niiiiice vid ty
What does the modem do? I’m new to this and just curious
The modem's job is to connect your network to your internet provider's network. Think of it as a bridge. There are different types of internet connection: DSL, Dial Up, Cable, Fiber, Satellite internet, Fixed wireless. Depending on the internet service you have, it may use a phone cable (DSL or Dial-Up), coaxial cable (Cable internet), fiber optic cable (fiber internet). The modem essentially translates the data coming from your router into signals that your ISP's equipment can understand and vice/versa.
Thank you so much
i barely know anything about interne but if i buy a motem and a router and plug it in my pc do i have to pay monthly or somethinh like that
+ImSJG No, As long as you pay for the internet coming from your wall/modem you dont get charged for using a router
+Dan hatman ok thanks
WHERE I GET THAT KINDA LAMP ?
Thank you so much!
Hi? Can someone program a router or what can one do to make a router for example for one to access internet one has to pay like 20 bob for 24 hours??
Yes that can be done. It's not typically found in most home/small business routers though. You'll need to setup a captive wifi portal. This will basically prevent any wifi guests from going anywhere until they pay or accept a terms of service page or whatever you setup.
well you just can't turn off the ISP provided modem/router in the office because the whole office will lose internet connection so any other option or can I just connect my wireless router that is still not on without turning off the ISP provided modem?
It depends on what you want to do. Do you want to use your new wireless router as a router and wifi in place of the ISP equipment? if so, you have to do configuration changes on the ISP router (if possible) to disable the wifi and routing so that only the new router is in charge of the wifi and routing. If you don't want/can't do that, you can plug in your new wifi router into your ISP router and have the new device strictly work as an access point (wifi antenna). You'll have to configure it to work in this mode. How you do this depends on your router.
I have factory reset my router n network reset my pc... Now I'm not getting internet...
Wat to do
Been months what happened
@@Project-cv1ec he doesn't know still and has no internet to tell us
@@TheGamingBun but how he watched the video without Internet? Some magic trick or something, I need to learn this?
Is it required for the wireless router to be connected to the modem? I really just want to know how i can set up my own wifi in my room without family members interfering
yes..because the ISP modem is what bridges the Internet access you get from your ISP to your router.
@@mediocritycentral can you dumb it down for me please?
@@joshuaquevedo8445 You need a modem, or a modem router. The modem sends a single signal to your router. The router is what provides internet access to the rest of your devices. You will have a cable coming from your master socket in the wall. That cable will go to your modem and then from the modem to your router. IF you have a modem router you do not need a modem because it is built into the router. (most modern internet providers include one of these)
Thanks ma'am!
i love that its that easy. Most things have you jumping through hoops to get things to work its so annoying.
My computer is in the other room, and I happen to not have a 20 yard ethernet cable, what should I do?
use the wifi dumby
Buy one or buy your own wifi box
Look into a wall adapter. It hooks up to your power outlet and uses the wiring in your house as an Ethernet cable.
If it's still a problem, i suggest a smaller home/apartment.
Clien Tornaka true??
thanks, it helps
Do I need a modem to set one up?
spark gaming yeah but you did 👏😐
yes you do, i haven’t seen any setups without a modem. from what i’ve seen, the router uses the modem for the source of the wifi, and sorta… replicates it, if you know what i mean.
Thanks dear
lovely....all the way sis
My modem happens to be a half router half modem, what do I do?
1 year and this man never got an answer
I have the same problem
Get separate modem and router .
Good question
so no one realized this was made in 2013? but it was a grat video
"Great"
i have nothing plugged into my wan port but my internet works, is this bad in anyway or can i just leave it like this. please help :)
After I’ve configured the router can I unplug it from the modem and move it to my room?
The permanent connection to the Modem is required for wireless internet access. If you are only using LAN then you don't need to have it connected to the modem.
(No offense, but you also could have just googled that, - even without any technical preknowledge.)
I hope that answered your question.
Thank you, that make my wifi slower then dial up modem faster then cheetah.
I don't know anything about these stuff. I need to use wifi. I live in Canada. My aunt is working from home, so my son and I can't use their wifi. What is your advice? Do I need to get our own wifi router?
Most home routers should have an option to enable a guest Wi-Fi. Try checking the router to see if it has this feature and enable it. The guest network is isolated from the main network so there shouldn't be any problem with that. However, if the router doesn't have that option, you may need to buy another wireless router and plug it in to the main one.
Jose Javier Flores thank you! I got my own modem and I installed it myself. It was quick and easy than I expected. I just had to follow the instructions with it.
@@heart06memory09 Awesome! Glad it worked out for you.
Jose Javier Flores I’m glad too. I also learned how to use and manipulate the gateway. It’s nice to learn something new everyday.

Hello quarantine friends
Hey guys, if u just got a pc and u don’t want to connect it directly to the Wi-Fi box, just get a wifi adaptor, you may already have one installed in ur pc u might just have to enable it. This will help You connect to your regular Wi-Fi that ur mom is probably paying for.
How do I figure out the password tho?
By default, most routers have the wifi password as well as the management password printed on a label on the bottom, back, or side.
So your saying I can't do this without a PC/laptop
At least in 2013 and earlier, yes. A lot of modern wireless routers can be setup through a phone using the manufacturer's app. Using a computer is still the best choice, but it isn't absolutely required anymore.

My 17-year old boy really loves the excessive sweating treatment plan “tomvoko press” (Google it) which I bought him. He`s a football player at his school, and used to struggle with sweating. This is the ONLY thing that works for him. Superb choice for anyone out there!
And how is this related to the video???
I'm here from the future... An it sucks, EVERYTHING has been "simplified" to the point of having no real control or compatibility.
Disk drives have been all but done away with and laptops have been deduced to a power plug, an 1 to 3 usb ports. Internet is WiFi only...
Well how do you setup wifi or a router WITHOUT any "ethernet port," easy APPLE jacks. Yes that's right, like Apple now you'll have to purchase a seperate plug adapter.
To convert a usb port into any and every other port you may need, aside from a usb port..
Well hey or you can always spend the money to buy ALL new EVERYTHING.
dont look wireless to me lol

Linsky's does updates that can mess up your router. After one year they will try to get you to pay $39.95:for 6 months of service. to get updates so it works Such a rip off.
