    Pretty cool to get to do the caboose ride along, that would definitely be an awesome experience

      Oh yes, spending time on a caboose traveling down the mainline is always a lot of fun. Excellent visibility from those things. It’s a similar experience to riding in a private passenger car on the rear of a train, but arguably more enjoyable. Thank you for the comment.

      Thank you, Andrew. And yes, we agree. They are both neat railroads that don’t get a lot of coverage.

    Aamazing Minnesota northern was still using this caboose as not just a platform riding car as late as 2006. Was it used any later than that?

    • @CVisionProductions1

      The caboose was brought out just for us. A big thank you goes to George LaPray for making that happen. We appreciate the comment.

    Great video ,I subscribe anything to do with trains. Why did railroads quit using cabooses? Looking forward to more videos.😊😊😊😊😊😊

    • @CVisionProductions1
      @CVisionProductions1  Год назад +1

      Thank you, Arnold. It was technology and a desire for cost savings that killed the caboose. Those flashing rear end devices sense air pressure on the rear of the train, and can be used by the engineer to initiate an emergency brake application if needed. The information transmitted by this device is monitored through a communications box on the lead locomotive.

      That’s very unfortunate, but it seems like a fairly common theme in those parts… Thank you for letting us know. Out of curiosity, do you happen to know when they stopped running all the way to Walhalla?
