This video evoked a flood of memories. We've lost so much - train orders, depots, the caboose, train order board blinking red signal (the operator has train orders to hand up), and we finally lost the railroad. I suppose we never know how much we have until we don't have it anymore. Thanks for posting this video.
The gentleman placing the orders at 2:49 is agent and first trick operator Andy Adams. If I recall correctly, train orders were used until December 1988 when they were replaced with TWC.
Very cool to see history in videos! Sad to say that depot is long gone, or well it’s no longer at this location, could of Ben moved possibly, but the tracks still remain
The Katy depot had the same fate as the MoPac depot in Taylor. Union Pacific demolished is in 1995 and where it sat there nothing but an empty lot. The I&GN Depot that Missouri pacific had was also demolished in the 80’s but was replaced with the brick building that is still there today.
@@arlingtontrains7 Steve Goen is the man who filmed the Katy shown here. He was standing on a signal that was just down from the diamond. Not sure when but the tower was torn down to but I think that was before both depots were torn down.
@@texasrailwayproductions5753 ahhh that said, it matches what all I’ve seen online, thanks for filling the gaps, tell him I say thanks for the footage 😎
Yes, not exactly sure when though, I’m looking the the Texas Railroad History website on the towers in Texas and they don’t exactly say when it was torn down.
Was hoping the MKT heritage unit would have been green and yellow. Great video

What an incredible time capsule of Katy operations in Taylor!
Great capture of Katy railroading!

Would love to seen the Katy go through Troy back in the day
@@fathersonrailfanning let me see, I may have a clip of it from it back then.
So obviously tower 34 was torn down before the filming of this in 1988

The view at 1:49 appeared to be higher Elevation, thus I’m thinking you got the view from the tower, nevermind haha
He was standing on a signal, later in the clips you can see the signal he was standing on.
3:47 you can see the signal he was standing on earlier.
@@texasrailwayproductions5753 the tower 34 is the one in question correct
@@arlingtontrains7yes tower 34 was the one in Taylor.
