I think Ken's redesign as a more close up range plays into his overall attitude really well. He's been put through hard times, he's sick and tired of everyone's crap and just wants to get it over with, so he'll get right up into people's faces and kick them to ruin their shit as quick as possible.
Love how Guile is in his own stage as a background spectator. "Let's see what my ex-brother-in-law and his friend are up to there. Oh wow, nice dragon punch."
@@GreyIsolet its funnier to say he is divorced tho, we all know that he is in hiding for something he didnt commit Divorced dad Ken has a nice tone to it
Even better: in the first round, Guild is there but he's in the middle distance AND wearing a flight helmet, so it's really hard to tell that it's him. For round 2, he walks into the near background, takes off the helmet and hands to the dude in green by the "Street Fighter" flag, and that's when everyone notices "Oh hey, Guile's here!"

I definitely get the impressions that ken is a High Risk and Rewarded character in SF6. I really can wait to see how players are going to optimize him through out the game. Take care Jmcrofts!
Not mentioned: EX Wheel Kick (in-game name: Dragonlash Kick) ALSO Ground Bounces the opponent and lets you follow up with a Shoryu or Level 3 Super, if you want to skip the running start and are willing to burn some Drive Gauge instead. Also, Ken's Level 2 Super only has 1 single frame of Invincibility on startup, meaning that if you do it raw it's actually pretty easy for your opponent to use light attacks to knock you out of it. Basically, wake-up Level 2 is a bad idea; use it as a combo extender. For reference, your Level 3 Super changes into your Critical Art (and gets the alternate animation/more damage) when your life bar goes yellow instead of being blue or red. (The "3" next to your Super Meter also changes to "CA") Also, I LOVE how Shoryurepa used to be a Super move, but now Ken's gotten so good that it's just his EX DP. Also also, I think they did a great job showing off how Ken and Ryu have evolved their fighting style over the years: Ken focuses on kicks and uses momentum to add fire to his special moves and it's clear he's put his own personal, aggressive spin on Ansatsuken. Ryu, on the other hand, has taken what Gouken has taught him and spent decades perfecting it, while adding in his own flair in the form of powering up his moves with the Power of Nothingness (read: electricity) with the Denjin charge, Denjin Hadouken, the Critical Art version of Shin Shoryu, and the Hashogeki.
I like how he spent years to perfect it while my man Blanka mastered it by growing up in the Brazilian jungle. Edit: ...and it makes sense, even some spiders are eletric around here.
I’m a KOF player, and Ken seems so familiar playstyle, mixing Kyo 99-2002 version Kusanagi and Angel. So interesting at the point that I’m hyped with SF just only to play with him!
Give me 3rd strike any day. I will play sf6 but I'm kind of over these Michael Bay super animations - going to give me a epileptic after 1 hour of gameplay LOL
I was hoping Mel would take over for Ken. Giving him his roll back. Maybe a pallet swap for Ken later. Or Ken as hidden boss with more damage. But nope, Ken gone mgtow
LOL, back in the day, throw was considered cheap asf.... If you did it accidentally, you needed to stand there and be thrown in return and if an accidental throw resulted in the end of a round, you automatically forfeited the next round. It is hard to play online where anything, cheap or not, is A-OK....
now i know why this game is terrible to me- the street fighter legacy wasn't built on frame data, hit box data all the info that makes this game equal in competition formats- we played it because it was fun 1 on 1 entertainment- this plays like you have to be a pro to be good- and I was good in sf4- ghostpeach was my xbox tag back in the day- I rate this game - 2 thumbs down 👎- but I am oldman now maybe it for the younger generation to enjoy
I didn't play much of SF4 or SF5, but Ken was always an in your face fighter, from CE on. I'm loving that they've given him even more options to pressure with. I honestly didn't play much 4 or 5 because I didn't think much of them. But 6, damn, I'm getting this day one.
from my experience in the beta, ken benefits HEAVILY from the universal options of this game. Drive Rush in particular gives him a whole new world of approach and pressure resetting. his major downside isnt just his range, its that a lot of his frame traps can get punished super hard by Drive Impact
I hope this game ends up being decent because I bought SFV on sale on Steam about 2 weeks ago and I'm not a big fan. The music is boring, the story/lore is nearly non-existent, throws make no sense, and the gameplay itself seems really boring compared to past games.
I like this kick 7:08, it fits pretty well into his design. It rewards patience, giving him a second gear essentially. But that second gear plays well into his corner focused rushdown.
Ken vs Ryu match up is the way to test every street fighter. It's meant to be the most evenly matched pair for two humans to play 2 player arcade stlye
1:04 Jinrai on close range with 12 startup frames is not a tool, you should use, only in very special cases. 2:04 the BIGGEST problem in street fighter, is a character, which dont use this range. The lack of fire naturally feels so wrong
you can EX with two punches or two kicks without the command run.
