- We rode the stunning Remutaka Rail Trail - Incline Trail between Kaitoke and Cross Creek in Featherston north of Wellington.
A busy day out on the trail with lots of walkers, runners and riders. A classic New Zealand summer day for it too.
This is a super chill ride with a gentle climb up to the summit and then an easy roll down to Cross Creek. The trail features some historic bridges and tunnels and the new Siberia bridge is a welcome addition to the trail.
We rode one way our Specialized Turbo Levo eMTB's and caught a shuttle with Wayfinders back to our car. We probably could have ridden back, but the shuttle was excellent.

That swing bridge is new since I've been there!

Thanks 👍. Found this really helpful before our ride.
Hi There. Thanks for stunning video and inspired me for riding in Rimutaka rail trail.
Stoked to hear that, do let us know what you think of the ride?
No more crossing the stream on Siberia curve. How times have changed
Yeah I remember riding (hike-a-biking) up there from Cross Creek side on a steam bike back in the day
They've taken out all the good stuff. made the track easy to ride a road bike
I suppose when they redo the incline railway it will be interesting
It is disappointing when no-one chats away, so I just turn the volume to 00
Cheers
Wow, I rode this track way back in 1992, when I was still a mountain biker. There wasn't a Siberia curve bridge back then.
I remember that the first time i rode it too. We rode from the Featherstone end back, was hard yakka
It'll be interesting to see what it's like when the Remutaka Incline Railway gets rebuilt
Interesting, whats the plan there?
Yeah 😊
That will never happen buddy.
Such a great family friendly trail. Have you been here with kids? What did you think?
Not a word spoken....
It’s all about the trails
This is the Wellington side right
Hey Adam, this is from about halfway over the hill towards the Featherston side.
Rimutaka. Rimutaka. Rimutaka. Was it really that hard to read the map?
Hi Paul, it's actually Remutaka. If you Google it, you will see the history of the name. Cheers
