Thank you. Sure, the Logitech G Hub software I used in the video is the same one noted in the instructions and available from Logitech's website here: www.logitechg.com/en-us/innovation/g-hub.html
I just bought mine today. And I still can’t figure it out how to record it using my iphone. I mean record my voice and the music from my laptop at the same time. What can I do to make this possible? Thanks
I'm not a musician, so I haven't tested for singing or instruments to be mixed into a music recording. I would probably end up sounding like bad karaoke, lol!
Excellent review. I have seen plenty of videos and no one has describe the features so precisely than you. Does the blue voice presets keeps save in the mic? And have you try use in PS4?
No, the Blue voice settings aren't saved to the mic, so if you move the mic to another computer, you'll have to change the settings in Logitech G Hub again. There may be a way to save and export/import your custom profile, but I'm not sure on that.
No, this is not possible because the digital data provided over USB cannot be directly translated into an analog audio signal. The only way would be to route the USB mic through a PC or laptop and output the audio signal over the computer's headphone jack to the camcorder's Mic/AUX-in port.
Hey there, so I don't use macs so I'm not really sure how to troubleshoot that. The best I can offer is to uninstall and redownload G Hub from the site and try a clean installation. The next step would be to reach out to Logitech for support.
Hm, did you buy second hand? It's possible someone already added a 3/8" adapter to the bottom of the Yeti X. Ordinarily it would look like it does at 3:27. With the adapter it will look as it does at 8:40.
Did I hear you right? If you connect your headset directly to the microphone, you can hear not only your own voice but also the Windows sound? That would be very important for me, as I use a closed headset and therefore want to hear both my voice and the Windows sound.
Correct, you can hear both the audio from your computer in addition to the sound of your voice when a headset is connected to the AUX jack on the bottom of the mic. You can adjust the balance between to the audio feeds in G Hub or using the dial on the front of the mic.
Finally a RUclipsr who shares my name who isn't a complete douchebag. I've ordered this for myself, but thought I'd listen to a few more tests and reviews just out of curiosity. Nice review, Phil!
@@ReviewedByPhil I think I will, and I think my friends will enjoy hearing me so crisp and clear! You did a good job putting together a concise and structured review. Keep at it, man.
Okay so I bought the PRO. But how do I do like you that IF I talk in right side it will play right side ? Or Left side will be on Left side on stereo ? I record and I see its Stereo but wont record just left or just right. Thanks.
On the Yeti Pro, set the dial on the back to stereo mode on the far left, the two interlinked circles side-by-side. Then when you record a stereo track (make sure your recording software is set to stereo mode), sounds coming into the mic from the right side of it will be recorded to the 'right' track and reproduced in the right speaker during playback while sounds coming in to the mic from the left side will be recorded to a 'eft' track and primarily be reproduced in the left speaker during playback. Sounds recorded coming from in front of the mic will be pretty much equally reproduced in both sides upon playback. Stereo recordings always record both left and right tracks simultaneously, even if you don't hear a lot coming from an opposing side's track. If you want separate left and right tracks (like a mono left and a mono right track), after creating the stereo track, simply delete the track side that you don't want from the original recording, save it as a mono track, and then repeat by going back to the original and deleting the other side's track.
Question, what audio level shoul di have the Yeti set to in the Sound Control Panel? scale is 1-100, should i leave it at 100 and only adjust the gain on the mic itself?
Sorry for the late reply. I use this one: geni.us/ST78QRe [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] which I reviewed here: ruclips.net/video/yhN2ry59oL0/видео.html
It depends on the mode and your gain settings. With 0 gain, in the Cardioid mode, you'll want to be within 2 feet of the mic for decent pickup. With the omni-directional mode you can be a little farther, maybe 4 feet. You can also turn up the gain if you want to be farther away from the mic, but you will also introduce more white noise or graininess to the recording as the gain increases.
Yes, but only for the regular mic use. You wouldn't be able to use the Blue Voice features over OTG since there is no app for Android from Logitech that would support it.
Hi, great review, very helpful! Just a question: can you suggest me a boom arm compatible with this mic? Like that one that you are using in the thumbnail of this video.
Sure, I just reviewed a desk clamp one here: ruclips.net/video/yhN2ry59oL0/видео.html It's by Tonor and you can get it at Amazon here: geni.us/ST78QRe [Amazon Affiliate Product Link]
The launch MSRP is $170. I got mine at Best Buy, but since it's new, it's probably going to be the same price everywhere unless you have a coupon for a specific store.
The Yeti X may be disabled in your sound settings. Here are the steps to fix this issue: 1. Right click on the speaker icon in the bottom right corner of your desktop 2. Click on Open Sound Settings. 3. In the menu that opens, scroll down on the right side under 'Related Settings' and click on sound control panel. 4. In that new window, choose the 'Recording' tab. Find the Yeti X device. If you don’t see it, right click on any other device listed and n that window and check the 'Show Disabled Devices' option. 5. Right-click on Yeti X, and select 'Enable' then select 'Set as Default Device.' Then open G Hub and it should be recognized. Hopefully this fixes your issue!
According to this article from Blue: blog.bluemic.com/news/how-to-use-blue-voce-with-yeti-x/ Yes, Blue Voice features are available on Mac. I have not independently verified this as I don't have a Mac.
@@ChristianeAgricola Yes, when you browse the presets, click filter (Yeti X). These are the only presets that can be saved and used with the Blue Yeti X. Hope this helps. I just use the regular mic sound now anyway.
@@KirkRedgate Hi, thanks for responding. I chose only Yeti X presets. The software tells me that is has been downloaded, but nothing new shows up in the list. I reported the issue to Logitech, but no solution from there side. Desperate... Any other idea, please? The regular mic sound is overwhelmingly bad because the mic amplifies background noises like rain, keyboard, mouse, etc. 🙏🙏
After you've downloaded a custom preset, you've gone ahead and selected it in the preset menu, so that it is highlighted blue. Remember, you won't hear the application of any BV filter if you're listening to your mic feed using the headphone monitors (aka sidetone). Sidetone will always playback as unfiltered latency-free audio. You'll only every hear the applied effect in a recording, even though the processing is 'live' and when streaming, everyone else will hear the BV filtered audio. After selecting a BV filter, click the red record button in G Hub under Mic Test to record a sample and play it back to hear the effect applied.
Could you find out how to do that? Ghub tells me that the preset is downloaded, but it doesn't show up in the list. I tried about 20 times (same preset) and not working. The first 3 presets came over, and then it stopped. Unfortunately, those I got, don't help a lot to get rid of the loud background noise. 😨
No, just because this is meant to be a desktop mic, so it's generally better for gaming and podcasting because you'll be seated which isn't the best posture for singing. For that I would recommend the Shure SM58 mic: geni.us/GEgD [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] because it can be used with any mic stand, even in at-home studios. It's lightweight, easy to switch between handheld and stand mounted, and utilizes a cardiod pickup pattern with a very effective built-in filter that minimizes breath/pop sounds.
@@ReviewedByPhil Would it still be good for music tho??? I recorded my song "Never Gon Stop" with the Blue Yeti and i thought it sounded great. I did a music video to it too on my channel
I'm not saying you can't use the Blue Yeti mic for music, as many artists can and do, but it's not the best choice for the money that you spend on it, and there are other options that are better suited for music production. I generally think of the Blue Yeti series mics as podcasting/gamer mics. They do have very good sound quality, but if you're making music, it won't give you "music studio" quality vocals and instrumentation.
I think so, as long as you also have G Hub installed and setup the Blue Voice profile first, Logic Pro X should be receiving the audio feed with the filter applied.
What? that doesn't sound right. USB 3.0 ports are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.0. I think you actually mean that you only have USB-C ports, which have a different connector shape, rather than USB-A ports (the type on the Yeti X). There's an adapter for that: geni.us/yumlfGz [Amazon Affiliate Product Link]
Check out the above link that says Yeti X mic only works with USB 2.0 but not 3.0, here's an excerpt: "Method 3: Change USB port If you are still experiencing the issue then the problem might be with the USB port that you are using. The Blue Yeti will not work on USB 3.0 ports. So, connect the Blue Yeti with a USB 2.0 and check if that works. If you don’t know which USB port is 2.0 or 3.0 then check your computer’s manual or simply try each USB port to see which one works."
Excerpt from above site: "This seems like an obvious and quite silly fix, but you have to know that Blue Yeti mic’s only work on a USB 2.0, and not on USB 3.0. Changing the USB helped the majority of users, and it could also help you save a lot of time and hassle."
So I'm not confused, the Blue Yeti X mic only works on USB 2.0 ports, not 3.0 ports. My Yeti X mic is not recognized by my Lenovo Thinkpad laptop that only has USB 3.0 ports. However, my Dell laptop has both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, and only works on the 2.0 port. I'm trying to figure out how to also make the Yeti mic work on my Lenovo Thinkpad laptop, but it simply won't work on the USB 3.0 ports. Other web site reviews says this same problem exists.
@Casey Cheung No. That's not correct. My laptop also has all USB 3.1 ports, and the Yeti X works fine on it. In fact the original Blue Yeti also works fine on all ports, which makes sense because the components are designed to be backwards compatible. Your issue likely lies elsewhere.
Gain is how loud the input signal of the channel is. It controls tone, not volume. Adjusting gain sets the level of distortion in your tone, regardless of how "loud" the overall volume is set.
I'm not sure. It only comes with a full sized USB cable, so unless there's a microUSB to Lightning cable or you use a hub to add USB input to your iPhone, I guess that might work.
If you're trying to remove background noise from an existing recording, you'll have to run it through audio software to remove the noise in post processing. You can try Audacity. It's free and function is under Effects -> Noise Reduction, just apply to the whole track after importing your file. If you're trying to prevent background noise from being captured in the first place, try reducing the gain/boost, or input levels setting in the app you are recording with and place the mic closer to your mouth when speaking into it. You'll get pretty clear, low background noise when the mic is 4-6 inches from your face.
It's Logitech's peripheral dashboard software. It'll allow you to change the settings in their gaming accessories like mice, keyboards, microphones, and headphones all in one app.
Distal hyperextensibility aka Hitchhiker's thumb. I can basically bend it back at a 90 degree angle. Honestly, kinda creeps me out that other people's thumbs cannot do this 👍👀💨
Gonna knit-pick you here. This isn’t the “Yeti X Pro.” It’s the “Yeti X.” The “Yeti pro” is a different mic that can record at up to 192 khz and can easily attach to an analogue receiver. You’re combining the two names into a single product that doesn’t exist.
According to Best Buy, the product is listed as Blue Yeti X Professional Condenser USB Microphone and I've simply abbreviated the Professional to Pro as indicated in the product literature (source: www.bestbuy.com/site/blue-microphones-blue-yeti-x-professional-condenser-usb-microphone/6367477.p?skuId=6367477) but I understand your point. The 'Professional' part is not part of the product/model name and is more accurately a descriptive tag line, though it seems I've conflated the two in my nomenclature. Apologies if this is confusing for anyone!
@@ReviewedByPhil Yeah, it's honestly a poor choice on their part. Or, perhaps, on the part of stores of they're the ones labeling it as "professional."
Do not buy Blue Yeti In India. They do not have any service center to repair. Be aware. Your hard-earned money will be lost if the mic does not work for any reason.

After selecting a BV filter, click the red record button in G Hub under Mic Test to record a sample and play it back to hear the effect applied.
@@ReviewedByPhil okay thank you so much for the help
Could you find out how to do that? Ghub tells me that the preset is downloaded, but it doesn't show up in the list. I tried about 20 times (same preset) and not working. The first 3 presets came over, and then it stopped. Unfortunately, those I got, don't help a lot to get rid of the loud background noise. 😨
Would you recommend this for singers that are starting out in making their own music?
ReviewedByPhil thank you for the response back man appreciate it!
Can i use the settings of the blue voice app in the Logic Pro Recording Programm (Mac)
I think so, as long as you also have G Hub installed and setup the Blue Voice profile first, Logic Pro X should be receiving the audio feed with the filter applied.
can you use this in recording in software ?
Yes, I record using this mic with Audacity.
My Yeti X mic won't work on my Lenovo Thinkpad laptop because it only has USB 3.0 ports, not 2.0 or 1.0 ports. Is there any workaround fix for this?
What? that doesn't sound right.
Check out the above link that says Yeti X mic only works with USB 2.0 but not 3.0, here's an excerpt: "Method 3: Change USB port
If you are still experiencing the issue then the problem might be with the USB port that you are using.
What is gain
Gain is how loud the input signal of the channel is. It controls tone, not volume. Adjusting gain sets the level of distortion in your tone, regardless of how "loud" the overall volume is set.
Does this work on the iPhone?
I'm not sure. It only comes with a full sized USB cable, so unless there's a microUSB to Lightning cable or you use a hub to add USB input to your iPhone, I guess that might work.
What camera are you using?
I filmed this with the Canon M6 Mark II
how to remove noise background bro?
If you're trying to remove background noise from an existing recording, you'll have to run it through audio software to remove the noise in post processing. You can try Audacity. It's free and function is under Effects -> Noise Reduction, just apply to the whole track after importing your file. If you're trying to prevent background noise from being captured in the first place, try reducing the gain/boost, or input levels setting in the app you are recording with and place the mic closer to your mouth when speaking into it. You'll get pretty clear, low background noise when the mic is 4-6 inches from your face.
@@ReviewedByPhil OMG thanks a lot bro, i will try your advice. Btw nice video dude
CAN I CONNECT BLUE YETI X to MACBOOK PRO?
Yes, as long as it has a USB-A port. If you only have USB-C ports you'll need a hub to add these ports to your setup.
can i use Blue voice programm with mic Blue Yeti?
No, the original Yeti mic doesn't support Blue Voice features.
What is G Hub?
It's Logitech's peripheral dashboard software. It'll allow you to change the settings in their gaming accessories like mice, keyboards, microphones, and headphones all in one app.
Warning, no ASIO driver available so you have to resort to crap like ASIO4ALL for it to work in most DAW's.
3:58 What's going on with your thumb?
Distal hyperextensibility aka Hitchhiker's thumb. I can basically bend it back at a 90 degree angle. Honestly, kinda creeps me out that other people's thumbs cannot do this 👍👀💨
How do I record with it??
Try using an audio recording software like Audacity. It's free!
Lol we have the same mic and headphones
Haha, nice.
Or, perhaps, on the part of stores of they're the ones labeling it as "professional."
i got it mine sounds like ass
Do not buy Blue Yeti In India. They do not have any service center to repair. Be aware. Your hard-earned money will be lost if the mic does not work for any reason.
Great review!!
I appreciate you, thanks
