This is extremely helpful! (Especially the note of: "There's no wrong way to create sigils". Was inspiring because of my concern I was making sigils wrong)
I’ve been practising in a traditional coven for many years, and I can verify that what you were saying is true. There is no wrong way of making a sigil , whoever made those comments really have no idea about magic or witchcraft or making Sigils
Dearest, would you consider doing a video all about the history of potions and potion making? I am curious to learn more, also your opinions on it in regards to pop culture portrayals of potions. Thank you lovely Hearth Witch! ✨✨
Hi, Hearth! very well said, Everyone has their personalized way of creating sigils, This might have different influences from different cultures and traditions. I typically do mine with Chinese characters and oracle bone scripts because this lets me connect with my ancestors on manifesting, cloud writing is also one of the most expressive ways of drawing different characters as ink strokes have different expressions. Each one of us is unique in a way, this goes also to our path. We all have different roads to traverse, different paths to walk, but by learning different ways and techniques from other people lets us expand our knowledge and understanding in their own way that can also help us integrate into our own. Thank You again, Hearth! May peace and love bless all sentience.
I made a dream sigil using my instincts, that caused me to have goofy dreams until I changed it to another one... Started laughing after I realized that what I drew out of instinct was the cause 🤣
How do you make sigils? Any preferred techniques? Timestamps Below: Beginner Information: 00:00 Basic Technique: 05:30 Different Containers: 12:45 Additional Aspects: 14:15 Other Languages: 15:21 Sigils from Sigils: 17:33 Mirror Sigils: 18:30 Active or Passive: 19:00 Bloopers: 21:28
i use quite a lot of different ones but i like the one where you convert the letters into numbers and make a circle out of them and connect the dots. i often try to see how my phrase/word/sentence looks in different techniques so i use the witches wheel or the narZart(not sure if that's the exact name) which is always interesting to see the different results. i've been also trying out to visualize and draw a sigil out of the intention, not really about the words and letters but more about the emotion i feel. i also wanted to ask what kind of app you were using for the sigil drawing, i'd love to try it out!
I don't know if it still counts as a sigil but I created symbols representing a person, place, or idea. Then the shape of the container as you called it represents the body, mind/spirit, or space. Outside is a shape or symbol that represents the action I want. I basically created a symbol-based language with nouns, adjectives, and verbs all condensed into one sigil.
Baby witch here! I would love a more in depth video about sigils. Maybe when to use them? How to use them in a more in depth explanation. Thanks so much for sharing all your wisdom and knowledge! I have learned SO much from you!
I really like Hearth's suggestion from a previous video to use an eyebrow marker as a skin-safe way to draw sigils on yourself. Very cool method for certain workings.
I never vibed with grid OR non grid sigil making, but I have found amazing results in automatic writing for sigils! Just meditating with my intent in mind and seeing what comes out when I open my eyes. Very relaxing too since I'm very ornery over the way something looks, greatly recommend giving it a try for anyone not connecting with these other methods!
Art has been a passion of mine all my life, and I've been looking for a way to tie in my artistic passion and energy into my magick practice, and I think I now understand how I can do that through creating sigils. Thank you so much for your insight and recommendations on how one can go about making and using sigils! Best wishes💜💫
I have combined many different techniques in my sigil making. For instance everything in my user profile is there to serve a purpose as part of the overall sigil. From the sigil drawing to the background and so on. And it gains energy whenever I talk or think about it or when others notice it. Also it can just passively gain energy just from the tech and energy used to display it next to my comment. But this is a pretty long term project as well. For more short term sigils i will either cross out vowels & duplicates & then combine them to make a shape. Or use a witches wheel outline. Then I have often drawn them in ink on my hand where it will fade with my daily activities abs the slow destruction is the charge for it.
My first couple of sigils were made just by crossing vowels and duplicates off an english sentence and combining the letters. No containers, no artistry, just the straight lined capital letters. One of them looked like a magical key, I loved it so much 😊 But I love the idea of translating to runes, as I'm very drawn to them and have used bindrunes as well in spellcraft. I can't wait to try them! Although theban would probably make prettier sigils bc it's filled with beautiful curves and all.
We really need to start blowing up Hearth's videos more - she is so well educated and impartial, many more people should see her opinions and the things she knows. Perhaps I'm just saying that as a beginner, but I have found so much info from so many topics from Hearth.
I sometimes incorporate letters, but I very often use pictural symbolism and draw variants of certain symbols combined until I feel satisfied. I find that people rely a bit too much on letters, and knowing how many people couldn't read or had no reason to know how to read across history, how many posts and signs do not need text to be understandable, I don't see the point of restricting myself to letters and numbers. Also having a formation in electroacoustic I'm used to making graphic transcriptions in which I basically represent sound as whatever shape I feel represents it well... I just apply the same principle to magick
I personally mix and match techniques according to what I think they "feel" like. For protection I'd use a mirror technique, since it feels very "secure" due to the symmetry if that makes sense, but for things like love, creativity or spirituality I'd take a more intuitive and organic approach, trying to associate it with other symbols (like incorporating an infinity symbol into a sigil that represents creativity, as my creativity has no bounds).
This is actually the way I develop Sigil. Thits how I was taught when I was first learning. I would actually like if you did some type of Deep dive into Sigils you have a very good way of explaining things and I feel like you would have a better and different perspective. Thank you for your content it definitely helps. 💯
I also like Marshall's (witch of southern light) way of doing sigils, like taking the letters apart and creating something out of these separate lines, curves etc and also forming a certain shape, eg "I am focused" in an eye shape or "self love" in a heart shape
Thank you for your video! I am just beginning my learning (baby witch) all though I have always had a pull and interest in witch craft and energy! I came across your channel and I feel very connected! Working on my first sigil!
i used to assign a symbol by just drawing but resently i've been feeling much more drawn to this form of sigil making, actually your last video inspired me to properly get into it
Thank you so much for both sigil videos I’m filling up pages since I way chef them, hélas me brunch back some productive creativity back ! So thank you very much I will enchant my art with it ! Sending love !
In portuguese, my native language are a lot of vogals, because practically all of the syllables finish with vogals I think is more easy and simple when a remove then for my sigils... interesting. I'm happy to know a little of English to understand what you are talking, thanks for the video, this sigils are so beautiful, it will help me a lot on my pratices
Thanks for the video! I much prefer this method. I personally like to count the letters J, V, W, and Y as vowels in my own practice. This is because J started as an accented I, V was originally a vowel when the letter first came into being, and because W and Y are both vowels in the Welsh alphabet (even though I'm currently doing my practice in English).
I so love your channel! Light, refreshing, and stuffed with practical and useful information. My sigels i generally make in a circle with a pentagram. I reduce the alphabet into 10 which corresponds to the spaces in and around the pentagram. Sometimes I write in runes. Otherwise its the standard procedure, excluding vowels etc. Seems to work.
i call it the constelation method you write the alphabet abcdefghi then start the second row with j and so on, then write your sentence, and only cross out repeating letters, then put a dot over the letters left in the sentence on your alphabet grid, make the dots stars and conect them to make your own constelations!
My method is inspired by Chinese esotheric. I use geometry symbols that represent specific element and the nature of the sigil. So if I want to make a sigil for peace, I´d use square (earth), straight line (water) and maybe a circle (Iron).
Hey! Just wanted to let you know how much I love your videos and how as a baby witch they have been the most helpful and easy to understand source I´ve found, thank you so much and keep being awesome!
I use multiple and over lay the sigils to make a completed one. Sometimes I use a similar technique as mentioned in the video and blend it with grids. Other times I use two grids and blend those. One thing that never worked for me was removing the vowels, especially when using a grid. The key used has all the letters, so why only use a partial key...But that's just me. lol
I'm starting my journey, and because of my academic background I was attracted to sigils. This video has been really informative and great, just like the rest of your work. Keep it up! 🙂
there's this cool language called toki pona that has a writing system called "sitelen sitelen" or "sitelen suwi" that is basically just really artistic sigils
I recently changed up the way I was creating mine. I still chart but I use 9, instead of 8. When I chart out the alphabet, I do not use the vowls, then I also incorporate numerology. Taking the letters, matching to their numbers. Adding them together until I get 1 number. It's actually kind of neat how the 3 I recently made ended up correlating well with the meaning of their ending number. I really like the idea of not charting but I also love numerology, so I may give it a shot. My practice is always evolving ♡
Thank you for all you do. I enjoy learning about new and different ways of doing things. Thanks for the information and inspiration. I have so many new ideas for Samhain and the new year. And looking forward to your announcement!
Such awesome ideas. Although I quite like a more free-style approach, I am defiantly going to try this out! Thank you for another awesome video, your effort is alway appreciated :) 🙏🌸
When you mentioned using other scripts I started wondering whether one can make sigils using Gallifreyan alphabet from Doctor Who. It's not magickal at all, but it does have a property of "coding" actual words, it looks really cool and mysterious, and it's all made of circles, so the words/sentences are framed with circles.
The only thing I was told and taught as a so called “rule” of creating and using sigils was to open the sigil with a dot and end or close with a line. I’m wondering if anyone else was taught this to.?
I’ve learned it in her first video, I believe? But I personally don’t follow it, I create my sigils using my intuition or a free form type of way, especially more so since your practice is your own. The channel “TheWitchofWanderlust” has an amazing video on how to make them, which is a technique I personally follow, not strictly, but it is the way I found myself actually making them and it’s more freely and creative and intuitive for me personally. She also has another video with “The Witch of Southern Light” and they talk about the differences and similarities of how their sigil creations still connect with the original phrase they started with.
I was wondering what the digital programme you're using to make the sigils is please Hearth? And also how you print the final sigil and transfer it to the candle. The candle last week looked amazing. I've only ever hand-drawn or hand-carved sigils before so I'm really keen to try creating digital sigils - amazing to use for protection online and in social media as well! Thanks Hearth x

Not really very versed in sigil workings. Mainly because I don't like to work with Planetary hours or days. So I just haven't incorporated sigils into my Craft. Instead I tend to focus more on candles , chanting , dancing , drumming and the like. Great video and thanks for the content
:O blows my mind someone told you that you're doing something wrong! IMO you're one of the first witches on YT and I know you've done research and have practiced for years! (
I native russian and kyrgyz speaker. If i can write down my intention in russian as short and as precised as possible, i write it in russian. And if there are words in kyrgyz, that have no precised translation in russian, and russian translation can't describe intention accurate enough, i use kyrgyz language. With English is the same.
Blessed be, Lady Hearth. Love and light to thee. In response to your question, your grace, I prefer runic sigils. Quite powerful and very fun to make. I do have a question for you, if I may.
This is extremely helpful! (Especially the note of: "There's no wrong way to create sigils". Was inspiring because of my concern I was making sigils wrong)

Hi Hearth! Thank you! 🥰
I learned this years ago, but I forgot how. So this was a wonderful refresher, and I learned a new way to do them in the mirrored version. Thank you 😊
I made a dream sigil using my instincts, that caused me to have goofy dreams until I changed it to another one... Started laughing after I realized that what I drew out of instinct was the cause 🤣

Loved this. Thank you! ❣ It was so cute that you said you are manic and then you showed us your mania. 🤣 I get manic often so I understand. 😄

Thank you, very helpful information. Very greatful you are out there for the community. Blessings
Such a cool video. I’m curious why you cross out the vowels? Is there a specific reason or just sort of tradition?
Thank you so much! Please keep the other sigil videos up, too. I've learned so much from you, it has helped so much.
Super liked your video. The knowledge & methods shared are precise and to the "point". Ah yes! Adore your creativity in sigil making.

Absolutely love this information on sigils. Would love to learn more!
Wow thank you so much for this! I have been online just searching for the exact explanation of you gave.
Thank you for all you do. I enjoy learning about new and different ways of doing things. Thanks for the information and inspiration. I have so many new ideas for Samhain and the new year. And looking forward to your announcement!
Thank you . This has been the most helpful video I've seen.
Please do a full video on sigils. Love your channel! Thank you. 💖

I follow a family practice, but I appreciate your willingness to share with me! I have also seen the other channels you mentioned I like them as well.
Love this! Much aloha & love & light from Maui, Hawaii to ur neck of the woods @ HearthWitch 🧿🦋🥰
I was wondering the same thing. I have no drawing apps lol
It looks like the drawing app Procreate, it allows you to make a video of the process of the drawing. It is only available on the iPad tho, so I can't say for sure if this is what she used.
Loved the video on an additional method, thank you! Meditation might be another option if an image appears as a result of focusing on an intention.
Thank you so much we all love you
Yes more info on sigils, please!
Full Sigil video, please and thank you!
thank you for this. i was really confused about sigils thank youuuu
Thanks for another fab video! You do make me chuckle sometimes.. that section at the end 🤣 wet Jean days are the days when you just need to start the day again! Another layer I like to add is any symbol that matches my purpose or number from a numerology perspective. All depends on the intention and way I plan to use it.
Anyhow, I think your content is always great & informative. I think we hail from the same part of the world (without narrowing it too much I’m in greater Manchester) & it’s great to see content from local people.
Thank you this is so helpful, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I would love more information on sigils.
as an artist I love to draw what my intentions are to creat a sigil
I remembered your first sigil video and straightforward I think it was as good . 🖤🤫
I feel like I learned so much from this video. I would love to learn more about sigils.
Please do another video on sigils, this was fascinating!
💗 heart symbol is a great way healing ❤️🩹 and forgiveness, diamond ♦️ is something I didn’t think of- to me that’s protecting.
Thank you for your sigil video. I like the sigil without grids video.
21:21 I heard "my voice is a little horse (hoarse)" and now I can't un-see it 😂
Just wanted to say your reaction to discovering you only had 2 minutes of recording time was very reminiscent (at least for me) of Herbert Lom's character in some of the later Pink Panther movies... 8-D Am also loving your comment about time management. (We all have at least one true nemesis in life, and that is mine at least twice over.)
BTW, I meant the comment about resembling Herbert Lom as a compliment...! :-)
Heey! Thank you, your content is amazing, I would love a more complete video about sigils, this history, how to use them, when to use them...
Love this video !! Thank you so much !! 😊 I’m a happy Witch and on a new journey !! For just me 💕🫶🏻
Very informative, thank you so much. I am relatively new to sigils so would love you if you could do a deep dive into Sigils. Thank you!
Thank you I ❤️ it i was using the planetary version I truly will be using this format and the witch's Alphabet
I love making sigils , I often make them for fun.
I find Sigil magick very interesting. I have, however, been using Nordic runes. (They're very helpful with exams)
This was a great video! Thank you! I’d love more of a deep dive.
Much gratitude!
following your guidance i love this artistic technique gave it a go, i like psychic magic so my sigil will be structured around this. Thank you. 🙂🙂
Not really very versed in sigil workings. Mainly because I don't like to work with Planetary hours or days. So I just haven't incorporated sigils into my Craft. Instead I tend to focus more on candles , chanting , dancing , drumming and the like.
Great video and thanks for the content
Yes full sigil video please!
I used to do this as a kid for fun??? Very cool and very informative!
:O blows my mind someone told you that you're doing something wrong! IMO you're one of the first witches on YT and I know you've done research and have practiced for years! (
i have not made a sigil but wanted to so watching this video has helped.
Great video, Hearth! So informative!
This was awesome! Thank you Hearth 💀
That first sigil reminds me of the Treble Clef for those of us who know Western musical notation.
