That's me on the left! Old School from Tokyo happens every few months, and the winner gets a sick playmat (shown at the end)! Spirit Link was absolute house in this matchup netting me like +7 life in game two!
It’s a common mistunderstanding that Swedish is never played with re-prints, as a matter of fact there are more tournaments that follow the Swedish rules that allow re-prints than not. 🤷♂️
btw, for anyone who is thinking about getting those revised boostie sleeves, they shuffle very, very badly. If that is a problem for you don't buy em, personally i use them for REV40 only so it doesn't matter as much as in format with bigger decks
Very true. When I use them I add an outer sleeve, that helps. Also the quality of the sleeves is pretty bad, so the outer sleeves help to keep them intact.
I wish I could remember where I saw it, but I saw a very creative use of Paralyze one game. Here's what I remember happening: Player 1 is on a two turn clock vs Player 2's 5 or 6 life and a Moat. Player 1 has Demonic Hordes and Dingus Egg in play, but can't swing for lethal. So he does this instead: 1. Taps DH to destroy a land for 2 damage to Player 2. Then casts Paralyze on his _own_ DH and passes the turn. Wouldn't do any good to paralyze his opponent's Serra, since 4 mana is easily payed for this late in the game. 2. Player 2 swings with a Serra or two. I forget exactly what, except that Player 1 is dead next turn without an answer. Player 2 passes turn. 3. Player 1 spends four during upkeep to untap DH, and taps to destroy a land for 2 damage. Spends 4 _again_ to untap DH a 2nd time during upkeep, and then destroys a _second_ land for the win. An errata was later made that you could only untap once per turn via Paralyze, but it was an epic win at the time and some really creative out of the box thinking.
@@TimmytheSorcerer Hmm, doesn’t seem correct. Strip Mine 4x was prevalent all throughout pre-Type 2 constructed and Strip Mine was not considered a card that was a huge deal.
This is why i am very pro proxy. Brings more people into the format and allows people to try more interesting brews. Great match!
Proxy would be necessary with the high use of duals.
King realizing he played two lands is solid. The stripmine before the twister sometimes goes unnoticed. Glad they got it right
👌
Did somebody say Lion? 🤘🦁🤘
Lions are great in these Strip Mine heavy formats 🙌

Thanks for taking the time to reply here. Congrats on the great tournament.
I agree, Paralyze is a true beast of a card, an absolute staple, especially if you can get it on a Serendib.
It's also an absolute super star in Shandalar :D
Yeah, in EC 4x Strip format, a well-timed paralize can be devastating.
Man i love the attitude these folks show towards proxies! Let the people play with whatever

Ancestral Recall on the opponent was a genius move. Too bad he didn't have another Black Vise and a bolt for 15 points of damage.
👊
Game 1: Why Black Vice is amazing in these sorts of decks.
This match was all about dealing damage as fast and efficient as possible.
This is my favorite ruleset.

@@TimmytheSorcerer oh, why did i not think of that, very clever!

このプレイマットは!?
Which mat do you mean?
@@TimmytheSorcerer I just ordered a Chaos Orb playmat myself. :D
How odd to play Ankh and Serendib at the same time.
2 mistakes, used lightning bolt when he could have just fired the chain lightning back. The wheel was a bad move.
Both these decks seem to lack any sort of synergy and are just some good cards plus staple broken cards.
EC is such a quick format. 4 strips means that a lot of players choose cheap casting cost spells for max dmg value.

I favor loose reprint policies and even proxies but these new frames and unrecognizable art are too much.
