Here is a quick and easy trick to export Sony Vegas Projects to Premiere Pro. This is super useful for those who are used to editing in Vegas but like the features Premiere Pro has over Vegas.

If you export in ".prproj" it won't work on every Premiere version, like a CC project doesn't work on CS6. Export in XML and it will work with any editing software. But don't add transitions and effects, they can't be saved in XML, it will only retain the clip order and some other data.
wow yes it worked! thank uu
Wow! Thank you!
it crashes as soon as I open
When I do the xml file it keeps saying error message the importer reported a generic error.. please help
Will the colorings of sony vegas work in premiere pro?
yes
@@spexxy can u explain ? It doesn't work for me
this doesnt work, everytime i try to open the project file, it says its damaged and corrupted or whatever. it also has a white icon and not a premier icon.
Hmm thats odd, it always worked for me
@@Xielent is there any other method? really dont want to restart 2 weeks of work:/
Question. Why not just always export as xml then and cut out the trial and error? Is there a reason to choose export as premiere?
You can do either, some projects do better with premiere and some do better with xml. Pretty much just find which one works best with the type of project you have.
If you export in .prproj it doesn't always work. Premiere changes their project data/requisites with every version; That's why a CC project doesn't work with CS6. Export in XML if you want to be sure that it will work on any editing software. XML is like the basic, barebones file, accepted by every software, just a simple clip order project...that's why it doesn't retain transitions and effects.
Wich premier cc i should have?
I had cc 2017 at the time of this video
Sir it really works, you deserve the best in life sir
Gonna try this. Bassically for two reasons: yes, Sony Vegas takes WAAAAAAY LONGER than PP to render any lenght video, and the second reason is COLOR CORRECTION. See, in Sony you don't have the chance to tweak Blacks, Whites, Shadows, Highlights separately, like you do in PP (plus, in PP I have the chance to NEST all the clips, and the LUTs and SHARPEN are way cooler than in SV)...
What version of Vegas do you use that doesn't let you tweak them?
@@Trusteft ugh... an old version that I no longer remember. I commented this 3 YEARS AGO. hahaha. Been using Premiere since, and I'm pretty happy with it.
@@YonyGut1MakesMetalCovers Thanks for the reply. Happy editing. :)
What if i just render my project in vegas and then open it in premiere, add some effects and stuff and render it again in premiere? Will it affect quality strongly?
If you want to do that, I would render in vegas at pretty high bitrate then render in premiere at your normal bitrate settings.
@@Xielent like how high?
My sound is weird when i now open my XML project in Premiere 2020. In Vegas my sound works great no problem at all, but now in premiere my InGame sound is louder in left side and my mic when i'm speaking is louder in right side.
doesn't work I just get errors and crashes. I was taking a file I made in premiere pro on pc and put it onto usb following all these steps, then put both files .prproj and .xml and nothing works! I put so much time and effort into this video -_-
Sorry for the late reply, I never got a notification. What version of Premiere and Vegas are you using?
@@Xielent i have the same problem and i m using pr pro 2020
Love this. Thanks. Have a question tho. When I render a long video in Vegas I get a choppy sound but when I render bits of the video the sound is fine. I need help
how to import sony vegas presets to adobe premiere
when i try it with xml it says that the project appears to be damaged :/
and if i use a proproj file it says that the project can’t be loaded.
Same problem
Thanks you very much. I'm french and i've didn't find a video on french so i went on your video and i've understand everything.
Glad I could help!
Team france
At 3:50, you just had to double click on "Sequence 1" in the bottom left panel and it would have opened it in the timeline
Nice tip, but there is a little problem. If I export as final cut pro, the audio is delayed. I know that this is common for Premiere Pro, but how can you solve this with exported project? Do you have to convert every single footage or is there a better option?
I've not experienced any issues with audio delays, someone else had an issue with final cut as well, you might have to manually sync the audio which could be a pain. Sorry for the late reply.
I was looking for this a long ago, and I finally I found it. Thanks!
Glad I could help!
If someone wanted to send me a video to edit in Premiere, would they be able to export their Vegas sequence as a Final Cut or Premiere file even if they don't have those softwares on their computer?
Yes, they do not have to actually have Premiere or Final Cut installed on their computer. You only need those if you are the one opening the exported file.
Thanks for the effort.
Can you make a video vegas pro to after effect project?
I'm not familiar with After Effects but I was looking around and apparently you can import Premiere Pro Files over to it. So Maybe edit in vegas, export it to premiere, save it as a premiere project then open it in After Effects.
Thanks, helpful!
Why I didn't check "export" myself XD. It's so understanding now
I tried to export to final cut and then import the file to adobe but it crashes.
Sorry for the late reply, I don't have any experience with final cut but make sure you have the latest version of adobe and vegas. I had an older version of vegas and had issues with crashing.
No problem. But I was talking about the part you export the vegas project as a final cut file. I did that and when I import it into Adobe it crashes.
same problem
When I do it it says something has been renamed as mainbin(2) or w.e .. what does that mean? I didn’t rename nothing
when you have nothing showing up in the premiere timeline just double click the sequence 1 icon... worked for me!
Thank you!!! It worked
What is the sequence 1 icon and where can i find it?
