The NBA Draft & LeBron James’ School Disaster Reflect the Destruction of Black Families | Ep 726

  • The fact that the 2024 NBA Draft saw non-American black people with the top two picks (and white guys littered throughout the first round) is a further indictment of the black family structure in our country. Pair the draft with the continued failure of LeBron James' I PROMISE School, and it should be abundantly clear that the destruction of the nuclear family and the ascension of matriarchy are two of the most destructive forces plaguing black America. T.J. Moe and Steve Kim join Jason to discuss the collapse of the black family and ESPN’s incompetent draft coverage. Plus, more skeletons are falling out of JJ Redick’s closet. Are the latest revelations enough to jeopardize his job with the Lakers?

    The Iceman, George Gervin, said it best: Today's NBA players are fundamentally unsound and don't play in balance and oftentimes push off the wrong foot on the dribble drive. I would add that they don't play defense and don't take pride in playing defense. European Basketball is more like Old School NBA. Team Defense, movement away from the ball, blocking out for rebounds etc. There used to be a term in the old days "so and so is a hard worker" under the boards. Nowadays many american born players stand with their hands to their sides, don't play defense, don't block out and just wait to get a hold of the ball again. On a developing three on two, a center or forward, instead of trailing the play or filling the lane, peels off and spots up outside the three point arc. That is not real basketball.

      @@charlestaylor6041 Today's players don't want to "get postered." Do you know what that term means? it means when a player is driving for the hoop they don't defend the player or even try to make him change his shot because if someone took a snapshot and the guy scored, the defender would be "postered." No one thought in such terms in the old days. Obviously, you don't know what real defenders like Bobby Jones, E.C. Coleman, Scottie Pippin etc were like. If Lebron James tried to drive into the lane against the likes of Charles Oakley, Rick Mahorn, Maurice Lucas and Clifford Ray just to name a few, Lebron would wind up on the floor and he wouldn't be doing a flop either.

I get that he's and older man and he doesn't want to leave his children behind while they're young, but in my opinion that's a cowardly approach and a cop out.

    Bad take by Gilbert Arenas which isn't exactly news. They softened the rules to make way for European players are you freaking kidding me? It's exactly the opposite: Giannis, Luka and Jokic to take the top guys play with a vengeance like old school guys used to and actually look for contact whereas you got homies playing silly isolation ball and jacking up bad shots from distance. What is the difference really is the fundamentals Euro guys can do everything well and are coachable and actually care about winning and not signing shoe deals and making it rain.

  • @monember2722
    @monember2722 18 дней назад +16

    To question why there aren't more black american players topping the draft is itself a wrong headed thought. Black people werent always the dominant ethnicity in basketball and there is no reason in particular for them to continue being so. I always found it odd that the league became so black anyway. I thought it was suspicious. "They've"(whoever is dictating these larger trends) been socially manipulating things for decades in this country, so I dont doubt that they deliberately chose the people they did.

      Yes, because the liberal white NBA puppet masters had to manipulate the game so that Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Kareem, Dr. J, George Gervin, David Thompson, Moses Malone, Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama etc. could have a better chance to succeed in the game that only white guys previously dominated 🧐🥴😭

    Unnecessary. Wholly unnecessary to use another content creator's material in a deceptive manner. I watched the episode on Gil's Arena, and it had nothing to do with race, but skill. True ball players have no issue with color/ethnicity, they simply respect good ball players. Softening the game however, as they described, rightfully chaffs them.

  • @cobbler88
    @cobbler88 18 дней назад +1

    Gilbert's opinion is cute, but the NBA isn't now a drive-and-kick-out game because of Euros.
    The league forced the change decades ago when there were finally enough outside shooters that they could shift the offense outside, given there just weren't enough good centers to go around. It was fine to have a Kevin Willis or Rik Smits, but those were basically 16/10 guys. Sounds good by today's standards, but guys like Hakeem and Ewing were basically 23/13 guys, and Hakeem in particular was greatly skilled.
    There were rarely more than 4-5 top centers in the league at any given time. The league had expanded beyond its ability to have one on each team, and the college game had shifted away from developing those guys, in favor of the three-point shot, so that pipeline wasn't exactly healthy either.
    If you're a college football fan, this may sound familiar. There were so few good pocket passers that it shifted considerably toward athletes who could throw than actual great passers. The fact that this was also the easiest way to win games until getting a bona fide alite QB didn't hurt matters.
    Take care.

    Jason is the best--I started noticing the sissification of the American man 15-20 years ago because so many boys were being raised by their mothers. Apparently, and it makes perfect sense, it's affecting the numbers and quality of prospects in the NBA now. What's next?

    In my daughter’s 8th grade graduating class of 27 there was a father who committed suicide. A father who died. A father on his own because the mother ran off to get laid and party. A single mother with children from three men. A mother on her own 99% of the time because the father is a drug dealer. And on and on and on. Families like ours with a mother and father are almost non existent. I was laid off two years ago after a twenty year career at multiple companies and can’t even get an interview.

    The kids of the I Promise School are doing bad because they don't value education and neither do their very neglectful parents who don't instill the value of being educated and don't require their children to put forth at least adequate effort. How else can you explain it, same thing with so many Baltimore schools and others around the nation. K-12 is such a tremendous waste of taxpayer dollars.
