I thought Mickle’s directing of Sweet Tooth was great. He’s really knows how to get the most out of actors, especially child actors, in each scene. He also knows how to set up the end of each episode to make you wanting more.
In Sweet Tooth, we follow a young boy, who is the key to saving humankind, as he builds up friends and allies to fight against an oppressive evil. But, the definition of what’s good and what’s evil, become very confusing. Sound familiar? Very Amuro-esque.

I must say, I'm still looking forward to see that new live-action Gundam movie, but since Netflix ain't no longer involved, I was thinking Warner Bros. Pictures should distribute the film in theatrical. And I will agree that Jim Mickle will replace Jordon Vogt-Roberts, who did "Kong: Skull Island", to direct Gundam. Even as a Gundam fan, I remember when I was a kid, I used to watch Toonami on Cartoon Network at my grandma's house back in the 2000's after school. So yeah, Jim Mickle will direct the movie.

Nah if anything should be a Live action show it should be War in the pocket or 08th MS Team. Both much more grounded yet emotional side stories. Zeta is a whole different csn of Worms that honestly I don't know if just a show could do justice

Live action adaptation of anime is such a messy topic to get into. I know a bunch of live action movies/tv shows that ended up as a big failures, and left fans really unhappy. For example we already have live action Gundam movie titled "G-Saviour", that isn't well spoken in the community. They will have to do properly 3 things like characters fitting into war times drama, special effects CGI (The US CGI is one of the best in the world, so it's going to be hard for them to miss on this front, and I put mecha design in this category), and the story (this is going to be hardest part, since we fans have some really high expectations of such projects). Despite all that we did have few movies, or Tv Shows that did a nice job as live action adaptations like Transformers movie for example.
Ps. I don't envy director Jim Mickle job on this movie project, and let's hope that he will be up to the task.

@GundamExplained Yes. Sweet Tooth Is great but Mickle directed also grotesque and thriller/horror movies.
"We are what we are" is a great movie about a family with a dark secret.
"Cold in July" is one of the best hard boiled thriller i ever saw.

This is great news, not too thrilled that it HAS to be an adaptation of the original series/movies!? I am getting Cowboy Bebop flashes here, Still, One Piece was apparently a success for them, but that was only because of the sheer wackiness of the world in it that they could play more fast and loose with reality. At least Requiem seemed to have done a very good job and was a success, so there might be hope. Gundam prides itself on it's 'realistic' in it's mech combat and that might be a sticking point, for puritans, in the writing if they don't do at least some proper research in in military tactics and doctrines. I think they could maybe pull it off if they take a more the TitanFall. It would be fun to see them go with first three movies and then do a Zeta series after that which allows more MS design to be shown in each episodes would allow way more interesting options for sites and environments. Through if that also goes really well, and mean REALLY well they could even rewrite double Zeta, which the first arc really needs a lot of rewriting with the new kids cast in it.

@@GundamExplained No problem. My main concern is that it's really hard to turn a war drama with kids as the main cast operating a warship without looking too corny or way too bloody. Zeta is much less of an issue with just Kamile and his childhood friend. Gundam views will expect and demand gritty action and the live action element would make it all too easy to get way overboard with that, and having kids/teens die, or their parents would make the viewers uneasy and break the fun, making it way too 'real' , and holding back with just lead to endless ridicule. It would be a very difficult balancing act to do even with the cast aged up.

@@mix-up9003 Amuro was already 15. Main cast where close to adult age anyway. Unless it's all original who knows they haven't said anything of what the plot will be.

The main thing One Piece had going for it was Oda being heavily involved in its development. Everyone who worked on it was familiar with and respected him and his work. They caught lightning in a bottle. Compare that with Cowboy Bebop. Watanabe had nothing to do with it and as a result we got a show that not he or anyone else could bear more than a single episode of.
Unless they get Tomino on this and unless everyone else working on it is a genuine Gundam fanatic, we’ll have no reason to expect anything more than utter garbage.

gundam definitly can work in a live action setting, some series in the franchise should probally stay in the realm of animation, like say 00, wfm, even seed and wing. But id say most of UC would work in live action, even the orignal anime, id say hathaway would make a hell of a live action film, Though unicorn might be a bit iffy

    • @isthatbraised
      @isthatbraised 2 месяца назад +1

True, UC is definitely the most grounded imo, but id rathwr they not adapt existing works. An origjnal story adjacent to UC or in UC itself would be dope too
Maybe something that takes place in later UC timeline, like in f91

I was skeptical about the live action. As soon as I heard about Jim Mickle, I did a bit research and found out about Sweet Tooth. Watched all three season of it, and now I’m somewhat have more confidence with it. It was a very good show with compelling story and characters.

My worries about this is the overall seriousness of the UC timeline will be botched out.. like the Legendary Godzilla Franchise.. and probably my speculation is Jordon Vogt-Roberts script or atleast "cut" is too dark and grounded that Legendary hired a new director to tone it down and make some changes... Bandai Namco on the other hand is still paying close attention which is the last hope of getting this proper Gundam live action adaptation good and true... out of all the Gundam timelines UC is the best imo and seeing it toned down can be a hit or miss but yeah

Im not having very high hopes for this live-action Gundam movie. After 6 years all we got is a new director. We didn't get a story board, what the MS will look like, who will be acting in the movie, who else is also working on the movie. We almost got literally nothing, but a new director. At least the gundams nextflix show was being worked on during the 5 or 6 years it took to make

Dropping Jordan Vogt Roberts would be such a MASSIVE L. Guy was not only a Gundam Fan but already made Kong Skull Island, a film thst shows he knows how to handke size and weight if giant things, as well as shows he knows how to right people who are just mentally messed up War. And he clearly had a vision for thr movie already and they're already waffling? Don't know who this new guy is but he better deliver

I’m surprised it hasn’t been shitcanned yet. It probably should be though.
If Death Note, Cowboy Bebop and Dragon Ball Evolution weren’t evidence enough that we don’t need western takes on anime; G-Saviour, RFV, and the War for Earth should be enough evidence that we don’t need a western take on Gundam.

This story must exist in an alternative timeline to be successful. Avoid trying to adapt from any existing Gundam series, as fans will meticulously scrutinize every detail in comparison to the anime. Such attempts have historically ended in disappointment. Just look at the latest victim Saint Seiya live action😢
