  • 20,000 flies caught??!! Yeah, this Rescue Fly Trap is legit. I think I can safely say that this is the best fly trap for outdoors. I put this fly trap outside my door in my backyard (which is the door we open up all the time to go outside and play), and it has prevented SO many flies from getting in my house. Amazing!
    This is NOT an odorless fly trap. There is definitely an odor, but not enough to ruin our backyard experience. The fly attractant bait inside the bag is pretty stinky, but it does the trick, and catching an insane amount of flies.
    You can buy the Rescue Fly trap at home depot, or on Amazon (which is where I bought mine).
    I also showed off my indoor Fly Ribbon trap, which I would also give a 4/5 stars, as it is awesome! It catches so many flies! I would say the ribbon trap is one of the best indoor fly traps. Not the best looking in your house...but it's worth it. The sticky fly trap next to a light or window works like a charm.

    Brady I've been using this trap for years, it's great. Unfortunately you did it wrong. No offense.
    First, you allowed the bag to dry out. You simply add more water to keep it activated. Your bag was only half full; it will catch flies until there is no more room to enter.
    Second, you don't want to put this thing near your door because you don't want the smell wafting indoors and you don't want to attract flies to your home. You have to understand the enemy. Flies go to where their attraction lies. Put the trap in the far part of your yard and they will congregate there and not at your door; they can't resist it. With this trap in your yard no fly in your yard that will choose your house, barbecue, hotdog etc. over this trap. Think about a pile of dog poop, the flies go there and stay there. It's a fly magnet.
    Lastly those centipede things are maggots...fly larva.
    Also I'd only fill it with water half way to the fill line because it fills with flies quickly where I live and blocks the opening before the dead flies sink.
    Don't tie it to a string because that allows the bag to spin in the wind and hinders the trapping. Use a wire coat hanger and the bag stays stable.
    Disposal: Ziplock it on garbage day place in garbage can gently, when liquid is in bag a spill can be a nightmare.
    Just some tips to get tbe most out of this product.
    Also checkout other vids on this trap. 20,000 flies is the count when the bag is full according to the manufacturer.

    Best fly trap ever. Had it in my garage because I didn't realize it was for outdoors use only. Was disappointed because I only had about 20 flies after the first day. Was going to trash it so I sat it outside the garage door and within 5 minutes there were at least 120 flies in it. It's been outside for the last 3 days and if there aren't at least 20,000 flies in it there's at least close to it. The bag's almost completely full from the bottom to top. Definitely going to buy more and hang them from the fence. This thing works better than advertised.

    FYI, if you just refilled it with water, you can hang it back up, and it'll keep going as long as there's room in the bag to put water in it. It creates a sort of fly mud slurry after a while, but it still continues to catch and kill flies. Been using a similar product for years. When fly season is over, and the bag is all dried out, we just store it somewhere outside for the winter, and when fly season rolls back around, we just fill it up with water and again, hang it up and it starts working is fly assassination magic for another season.

    Yeah I just got one of these and it works! A couple of things that might have been mentioned already. 1. Manufacturer says after adding water, you should see results in about an hour(?). I used warm water and it was literally less than 2 minutes BEFORE flies were around the nozzle. 2 DEFINITELY has a strong bad smell so you don't want to place it by your door or too close to a seating area. Wherever you place it, it's going to attract flies.

    These things DO work! I had one hung on my porch and decided I wanted to hang it away from the porch, thinking it was attracting the flies to my porch from the bait inside. It had already caught a number of flies, and as I walked to where I wanted to hang it I could see a line of at least a dozen flies following me as I walked! They were following the trail of the scent.
    So if flies are a hassle, these things REALLY do work.

    Thanks for the video. As an ex-pest control tech for many years I would advice against placing traps near the areas you don’t want the flys. Doors, garbage cans etc. Sounds counterintuitive but it’s is, in many cases more effective this way. When you place any kind of baits near the areas you don’t want the pest you will be attracting too close to the areas you don’t want them in the first place. Another good reason in you case is the smell.

    I have been using this product about 5 years now. I progressed through the disposable bags, the 1st plastic container (The top would not stay on, the plastic cracked after a year of use) to the latest. The one that came out last year-is the BEST. The plastic is more durable, and the Flies LOVE it. I have two kinds out now-about 11. All around my back door-where I feed cats twice a day, or other critters that share with my cats. (Squirrels, Turtles, Possums, Racoons etc.) You are right-above-the smell is NOT GREAT-but it WORKS. And they love this newest container. The old one- the plastic breaks after a year or two. And they are sitting there-nearly empty now, while the flies fight to get in the two new ones. I keep the refills on hand all year- and use the over half the year. They really, really work. I have the regular small fly plus the larger blow flies-with green, and one even bigger. Overload in S W Ga.

    That bait wouldn't actually attract horse flies, so those were not related (coincidence). -- Yeah, Rescue works awesome. Does smell due to rotting dead flies because works so well. It's better to put farther away as will attract. Rescue is the best attractant bait. Can buy the bait separately, which I've used in larger containers that can be cleaned out. I put the dead flies in my compost pile. The toss away bags are more convenient though.

    Brady another deterrent to flies around doors, windows, etc., Use a quart or larger zip lock bag fill it to 1/2 to 2/3 with water. Put 3 shinny pennies in it and hang it near the door, window, open garage door. It messes with the flys and they won't come near it. It really works well. We hung two. One outside the overhead garage door and one about half way in the garage. No flys stall in the garage. It must also mess with bees too as we had none get in the garage or try to build a nest near the garage door. There are some videos on RUclips showing them. We have used them for years.

    When one is full or no longer attracting flies, I take a one gallon ziplock baggie and bring it up from underneath and release the tie / seal the bag and carefully position in garbage bin so that it remains upright. Note: I use 12” twist ties from hardware store hanging from tree limb to suspend fly traps from. Easy on; easy off.

  • @crowflight3988

    In Arizona first type of trap you demonstrated works okay before and after the summer heat hits. Once it gets hot the flies literally overwhelm the system in days. They pile in so fast they form a mat of dead flies that provide a food source for the maggots. In May the system worked just as well as yours. But in June the trap failed due the overwhelming mentioned but also evaporation within a week. Your mileage may vary of course. The solution is to reuse the niffy plastic funnel cage and hot glue it onto a much larger container lid that will allow you to easily dump out the putrid mass of fly-death inside periodically. Also if you are in someplace as hot and dry as low-country Arizona, instead of water, use the RV-style antifreeze (not automotive) as it is non-toxic and doesn't evaporate as quickly as water. Yeast and a little protein in the liquid will attract the suckers. A bit of fish or shrimp will probably work too, but the stench from dead flies and rotting fish may be more than you can stand. Then again if your neighbors make to much noise outside in their yard you might find the odor useful ...

I eventually filled it with water to kill the maggots and left it in the direct sun to dry out then dumped all the dead flies and maggots in the garden and buried them as compost/fertilizer. I did hang another one after I took the other one down.

  • @pumpkinheadghoul

    FYI. those "no feet caterpillar things" are likely fly maggots. Nothing to be worried about because they'll just feed on the dead flies, but eventually die inside of the bag as well. With all of these types of fly traps, you pretty much always end up with fly larva inside. No big deal though.

    I think that is the best of the best fly trap.I just throw one away and it must have had at least 20,000 flies in the 1st one. I now have 2 hanging. I also have one that I made with dog doo, 2 eggs, a bit of sugar and water. That one is ok. It does the job. The fly trap is the best. Oh yes it is REALLY Stinky. I would give it a 5 stars.

    So, I have a question. I get flies in my house, I mean a LOT! Ewww. I rescue cats so there’s food, litter boxes (that can’t possibly be clean ALL the time), etc. Will this attract flies back outside? What else can I do? I have several strips hanging.

    • @BradyCrump
      @BradyCrump  3 года назад +1

      It’s a really strong smell, but if there is actual poop in your house from kitty litter, I’m not sure it will lure them back out, but if it’s in front of your doors, then they might never come in for the kitty litter. Worth a try.

    • @BradyCrump
      @BradyCrump  3 года назад

      If it’s away from where you hangs out, that smell will overpower anything you got while grilling. I used it mostly for deterring them from coming into my house. So…freaking…many flies.

    Hi
    Take a video and count the catch per minute. Then you can count the qty of flies. So if you kill say 5000 a day and after a week you still do that qty/minute double up on the traps until the fly population starts to slow down. Then you do maintenance on those traps. If you have neighbours then coordinate the traps with theirs in the same manner. Also make sure the trap waste is dealt with in a way the eggs, larvae and pupae are killed.
    Good luck.
    Grant #flybraai
