Thanks for the support! I appreciate it 👍
Nice! I just got a Rat3 myself.
Great choice! I need to pick one up as well.
I believe the 1075 steel knives were limited to the Spec-Plus series, because so many people were abusing them by chopping and throwing. The rest of the "high carbon steel" knives were 1095 steel.
Good review! I just ordered a Rat 7 to add to my small, but growing, collection of bushcraft knives. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Awesome! I hope you like it as much as I do. Thank for the comment!
I bought an Ontario Knife Company 8696 Bushcraft Field Knife on June first (I found the receipt), and I gave it away less than two weeks after I bought it. It's not a bad knife. If it was crap, I would have thrown it out, instead of giving it away. It was $74.99 before sales tax, and there's a lot to like about it. But it's just not right for me. My standard "combat" KA-BAR feels like a toothpick in comparison to my over the top KA-BAR Bowie Knife. So my OKC felt like a qtip. I gave it to a colleague whose kids are camp counselors, and whose wife is the camp cook. I'm paraphrasing, but the jist of what I said is "Give this to your kids, or if they're not responsible enough, give it to your wife. Whoever gets it, I want them to beat the sin out of it and let me know how it holds up." He replied "I don't know if I can trust my wife with this." I still don't know how to process that statement. You trusted her with your seed, but you can't trust her with this (imo) dinky little knife? Uh.... what?
👍🏻👍🏻
Glad I found your channel! You have a new subscriber!
Thank you for the support!
@@hillbillydude Just calling it like I see it brother! 👍
I have the same knife. Bought micarta scales from knife center. Slimmer design.and i really love the leather sheath.
That's awesome! Slimmer handles wouldn't be a bad idea
@@hillbillydude the new handle scales made me really like the knife so much more. I can't say enough about them.
Love your content ! Thanks hillbilly dude
Thank you, my friend! I really appreciate the support.
Will try ESEE’s next knife they cost more but comes with a good kydex sheath. Cost more at the time of purchase, but when I buya better sheath a for the rat become price it’s closer
i have the same type of rat 7 with the leather sheath and have been "edc"ing it for 2 years or so and after a while the leather sheath will untie itself but with some leather glue its real sturdy again and iv had no problems with it since... well other than the coating being a joke
also good vid nice work def dropping a sub
Glad to hear it's still holding up for you! And I appreciate the support, thank you!
I have the rat 7 it’s a great knife but the nylon sheaths are really Junk. The new sheaths are made in China and the last two sheath have fell apart with in a week after I got it. If my grandson wasn’t walking behind me it would have been gone
I believe ratt uses 1095 .these models from bass pro and cabellas use 1075. A bit of a lesser steel.but a break on the price.
They transitioned to 1075. The current Rat 7s Use 1075 and have for a while.
@@1qas23 👍 thanks !
