We were all aware that the VCS was limited. Therefore, no one expected (Atari) Pac-Man to closely resemble the arcade version. I believe, this version would’ve satisfied most players.
Nice video looking at this fantastic hack of Atari's Pac-Man. I always say that had Atari released something like this, people would have been more forgiving of the differences in the maze, given all the arcade elements that are part of this hack. I really like playing this version of Pac-Man. It is fun while being uniquely Atari's Pac-Man.

the original atari port was a proof of concept. the marketing dept. jumped on it to ca$h-in to the high public demand. Tod Frye just went along, collecting the cheque. it damaged Atari . ET just sealed their fate.

It is NOT a hack of the original game. It was written from scratch. Totally homebrew
