While I'd personally LOVE an A-26 in this scale I'm afraid I'd have to give it a miss with all the errors/poor moldings, Etc. This just cries out for an adequate replacement ( not just the parts) by some one or any one. Love all the notes and add-ons, but afraid it's not for me personally best of luck and keep up the great work, Dane

Nigel, one more tidbit to share of wrongness, the A26 doesn't have symmetrical cowl flaps and there is no flap on the very top. Also there are 3 types of exhaust headers. One really wonky one, seven of another type and one more that looks similar to the seven but the pipes are on a slightly different curve. I missed this video initially but I'm really happy that I caught up with it. A new tool is definitely needed.

Oh Nigel, thank you so much for this. I have an affinity with the A-26 after seeing Double Trouble crash in 1980 at Biggin Hill. Like you I love big scale planes and I raced out to get this kit on release and then the issues started showing up, which is now an avalanche! It may have been an unusual video for you but an invaluable one to those wanting to make an accurate Invader. Thanks again.

There were early B and early C (Blocks 0 to 15) with flat top canopy, wing without guns (and with a small ammo hatches) and late B/C (Blocks 20 to 60) with clamshell canopies and guns in wings. 6 gun nose could be for early and late both cause it is modular/reconfigurable from the Day 1. However, yes, 6 gun nose appears earlier in the production and can be seen at WW2 exclusively. Also early C had 1 MG at the right side of the glass nose while the late one has 2 of them.
Dorsal turret was the feature of all the planes at WW2 and only few of them in Korean war. Also at Korean war some planes (especially B-26C and RB-26C recons) have internal inserted fuel tanks on the places of both turrets, top and bottom. Top position looked like R2D2 that case :)
And of course early and late ones had different R2800 versions which are visible by the engine carter details.
B-26K and RB-26K (glass nose) were completely different: another engines, externally reinforced wing and fuselage, new fin and rudder of 20% greater sqare space...

So basically just keep the rivet detail in a small bag and scrap the rest ? A £70 odd quid kit becomes very expensive if you have to buy all that extra stuff to correct it.

Hallo Nigel, I sag your Video about the "faults" of the Hobby Boss A-26B. There are some interesting Videos from Kermit Weeks whi bought an A-26B and Restaurator IT. I assume, Hobby Boss has Tagen this A-26B as a template for its Model and explains perhaps the "discrepancies" mentioned.
For exampel: the Restaurator A-26B has at least temporary a two pilot configuration. Also the different Note configurations (different numbers of guns) ist mentioned in the videos. As well as the disk breaks instead of drum breaks can be explained.
I recomment you to see the videos.
    Regards Walter

I have seen the videos Walter. I try to not take any information from restored Aircraft, especially the A-26 which had such a long service life and so many variants.

as mentioned in some of the videos that I've dropped on the A-26, there are no 2
A-26s that are alike anywhere. they've all been loved, altered, mutilated and otherwise transformed by the different owners and operators. you can get basic details from current aircraft, but you really need to go to archival photos to achieve relealistic WW2 accuracy.

The thing is, the average model buider does not care about accuracy. He just wants a B26 in their collection. As for me? Ill do some pe and resin but i'm not going ovetboard. I don't have the skill set that nigel has. I can paint and weather with the best of them. Lol

I love the shape and powerful lines of the Invader. But, in my opinion this kit is just a POS, so disappointing to look at. Maybe I live long enough to see a „real“ 1/32 scale Invader.

This could end up being a very expensive exercise, if someone bought all this after market stuff Nigel. I wonder how the 1/48 ICM kit compares to this kit? I understand that if you buy the Revell Invader kit. It is all the ICM plastic, but much cheaper.

Was curious about the kit as at £70 isn't too bad and as I wouldn't be that fussed about accuracy... However, my local shop had it for £140 and others were up to £150. At that point you do want something that is reasonably accurate out of the box. Interesting video as always.

Maybe OzMods could be persuaded to do corrected fuselage halves, wings, cowlings and landing gear. They've pretty much done a similar job for the AZ Vultee Vengeance kits. One thing's for sure. You're going to need a bigger spares box!
