    Starting to add soft plastics into my perch fishing rather than spinners/cranks. This was just the video I was looking for. Everything else on the Internet seems to be about Bass. 👍🏻

      @@Thomhuntfishing all my rapala lures are rigged with inline singles most takes are on the back hook so fish nearly unhook themselves once I've landed them. Have two bully bites also, both rigged on singles, never lost a fish on either of them plus unhooking is so much easier.

    This might not be your remit, but I'm finding lots of lakes don't allow you to fish with lures for Perch. Any tips on the best way to catch them without lures?

    • @Thomhuntfishing
      @Thomhuntfishing  Год назад +1

      Ha ha yeah not exactly in my remit, but you can’t go wrong with worms. 👍🏻
      Either coarse fishing style on a pole/float or feeder or some people mix lure rigs like dropshot and put worms on the hook…… Drop-lobbing I think they call it 😂

    Thanks Thom great content as always and plenty of useful information. If you had to choose one lure for any given day any condition what would it be ??? I am a fan of the slim teez 7.5 in headlight always gives me confidence 👍👍

    • @Thomhuntfishing
      @Thomhuntfishing  3 года назад

      Hi Dom, so yeah the key is confidence, but the main principle I’d try to get across is that there is no ‘one lure for any condition’, it is more about ‘one lure for the specific conditions’. What I mean by that is my confidence bait for eg perch in warm dirty water will be a crankbait, but my confidence bait for Zander in warm dirty water will be a Shad. There is no single lure that performs well in all conditions. It’s much more about matching the bait to the specific conditions you have 👍🏻

      @@Thomhuntfishing Thanks Thom .I really need to try and put time in with crankbaits its an area I havnt really explored probably due to confidence and obviously time on the bank .think I'll give it go cheers for that 👍

    Really useful, thanks Thom. Quick question, do you continue to fish for Perch past Mid March when rivers and some canals close?

    • @Thomhuntfishing
      @Thomhuntfishing  3 года назад

      Hi George. Yes there’s plenty of canals that are open still so I fish for Pike Perch abs Zander up to May/early June then Perch and Chub through the summer mostly 👍🏻
      The only time I am very wary for perch is over 20°C (and for pike I tend to avoid them over 16°c) and I always take a thermometer to measure it 👍🏻

    Does rigging a shadteez in the side ruin the action?

    • @Thomhuntfishing
      @Thomhuntfishing  2 года назад

      Sorry for the delay in replying! It changes the action a little bit but certainly doesn’t ruin it. It swims almost the same in an upright position but then turns sideways on the pause and flutters much more than normal 👍🏻

  • @sosoblaq
    @sosoblaq 3 года назад +1

    So which is smaller size 1 ewg or size 2ewg ?

    • @Thomhuntfishing
      @Thomhuntfishing  3 года назад

      Size 1 is larger than size 2.
      For number above zero, the bigger the number, the smaller the hook so size 10 is smaller than size 2.
      When you get to size 1, it then goes to size 1/0 and the hook size gets bigger so 2/0 then next size up is 3/0 and so on. The biggest offset hook you will come across is probably a 6/0 or 8/0 but these are for big pike baits. For perch fishing a 4/0 is about the biggest you’ll need
