Ok -I loved you before and now love you even more. And I am totally crying happy tears along with you. You, young lady are a true inspiration as a human. I am a daughter of an alcoholic, who was never able to find sobriety, and I am at age 52 still dealing with the affects of her illness on me. The gift you have given your children, your husband, and more importantly yourself, is more than you will ever know. I literally cannot wait to meet you next month, and thank you for all the lives you are touching with your courage and vulnerability. Rock on sista!

I cried watching your this video I too is suffering in depression. I can’t move feeling stuck on this moment where everything is mess up. Until I found my passion that is through photography and my biggest fan is my dad, who recently died 7 months ago. It’s a big challenge for me and my wife everyday but I know he wants me to continue what I’m good at and let me share this to you. You are an angel in disguise to tell that infront of the camera and for me to hear this all across the world. Thank You!

Kudos to you, I am a man in a completely different situation, but with other kind of baggage to deal with, such as depression and low self esteem. You have been 3 years over your addiction, my long and dark process to overcome depression started 3 years ago too. Still in the process, but getting there. And trying to learn how getting rid of the urge of saving the world.
I have always worked on IT, which I mostly hated. It's been 3 months ago since I quit. And now I am still figuring out how to make Photography and my natural artistic skills a way of life, including paying bills. After so many years of leashed creativity, it takes quite a while to finally use it.
You inspire people. Not that he needs constant reminding, but hey, tell your husband "a Spanish guy just told me how lucky you are". And you're lucky too, you are being loved :-)
Keep posting. This week I am making a list of restaurants in Barcelona that could do better with some good photos. I'll offer them a TFP collaboration, and I'll start building my food photo portfolio. One day I'll show it to you ;-)

Joanie, to say that you had me listening and reflecting on each of your words is an understatement. I rarely watch videos right until the end. Your statement that "its ok not to be perfect" and "we're going to get through this" rings on many levels for me. Yes...things are sometimes tough, self reflection is difficult, being honest with yourself and your loved ones can be even harder. Bless you for this heartfelt story.
Joanie, I just found your channel and have been binge watching your content. And I was thinking to myself- this woman has got it together (confidence, charm, talent...). This video really shook me. I just kinda figured out the chicken story for myself a few weeks ago. my mom is an alcoholic/ drug user. every time she would call i would get so angry and sad because i knew she was going to dump all of her issues onto me. she was expecting me to be her therapist. she dumped everything on me and i would break down because of it. now that I'm figuring my life out a bit and I'm not drinking and i don't feel stuck like i did, i can listen to her and she can vent to me and it doesn't destroy me like it did. i know the only person who can make her life better is her and the same goes for me. Im stressed because just turned 26 and i still don't know what to do with my life, but i think I'm on the right path now. My dad collects kitchen supply stuff (or hoards it) and your videos gave me an idea to put all the crap he buys to good use. I've been using it to take photos of the food i cook. the first photo i took was of some eggs from my neighbors chickens :) Congrats on 3 years and thank you!
