On August 19, 2021, for the first time the sound of kobyz was heard on the stage of the New Wave Hall in Sochi Olympic Park.
The tandem of Igor Krutoy (piano) and Dimash Qudaibergen (voice) with the best Kobys player in the world Olzhas Qurmanbek, have presented a new, really unique song in English with enchanting oriental melodies.
The idea to add kobyz to the new song came to Dimash after he first heard the melody "Stranger". He decided that the folk instrument would fit perfectly into the song, giving it an exciting sound. The performer of the kobyz part is Olzhas Kurmanbek.
The music was created by Russian song-writer Igor Krutoy (musictitan, billionaire), and the lyrics were written by Mary Sharon Vaughn (*1947, is an American musician, songwriter and producer. She writes hits for famous singers around the world) The main arrangement was made by Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan).
“It was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way”, - Krutoy said. (Source: Dimashnews)

On the other hand, I am also interested and intrigue of this beautiful sound of Kazakhs’ musical instrument called KOBYZ which is played and accompany as Dimash sang this song “STRANGER”. KOBYZ’S amazing sound seems echoes for me a kind of ancient story and mystery of something … and its beautiful sound captivates deep within me.
FACTS: “KOBYZ” KAZAKHS MUSICAL INSTRUMENT Kobyz is an ancient Kazakh string instrument. It has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather. Traditionally kobyzes were sacred instruments, owned by shamans and bakses (traditional spiritual medics). According to legends, the kobyz and its music could banish evil spirits, sicknesses and death. This instrument bears witness to the importance of music in the nomadic lifestyle of the Kazakh people.
PERFORMANCE This new song “Stranger” was performed by Dimash with such quality, beauty, and passion coupled with it … is his powerful voice both in his lowest and highest notes. The inspiring beauty when Dimash performed is that … he is very much connected with his music inside, out. Indeed, it is very obvious through his body language and more than that … he really gives his all to it.
REFLECTION ON THIS SONG: STRANGER Probably we all know that stranger is a person with whom one has had no personal acquaintances: Or a newcomer in a place or locality. A stranger is someone you don't know or who doesn't belong in a specific place.
Since we don’t know much about that person whom we called “Stranger” seems we had a great impression and presumption that he / she is dangerous or scary. Well … maybe this thinking is true or maybe not true. Because we can’t judge the person at all by just a mere external appearance.

But there’s still another worst kind of estrangement that is happening nowadays: when … within the family members they become strangers to each other. When this things are happening in a family … stand still and be calm and recourse to prayers for your divine protection and strength needed to stand fast and fight against the power of the enemies, the devil who wants to destroy the relationship and the family.
In this case, I suggest that we will always pray the gifts of grace and trust for our family members.
