I love your accent! Nothing at all weird about it at all! I was born & raised in Northern Virginia (outside of Washington DC) in the good ole US of A. I admire your hard work in not only becoming US citizens, but paying off things as well. You two have a great work ethic, which I think is admirable. Hello Di! Thanks for sharing your experience and background. I'm wondering whether you found certain things to be a challenge to adjust to in the US. For example, I have a friend who did not know about health insurance and the difference in the medical system when she came here. Do people abroad assume you're being shot at every day? (I'm from Chicago, so people in my current state assume I've witnessed gun battles-I have not). Did you find any particular aspect of American culture odd? Thanks--Linda
oh for sure the medical system is screwed up here! Insurance is just weird, and the health doesn't cover eyes or dental? like really? The other thing was 'withholdings" when filling out paperwork at work. I had no idea what that was all about. Seeing police with guns took a while to get used to also. Oh and the strange foods. Finding jello on a salad bar... Everything being super sugary. Most people think we're in Los Angeles but we're about 50 miles out where it's pretty sleepy/quiet. Usually when we tell people in the UK we have a pool they think we're rich. lol, like 2/3 houses here have pools. There are probably more but those come to mind.
@@CreativeKarmaDesign Oh man that is so funny! I was just a tourist in UK & Ireland for 5 weeks....but the police with their night sticks, weird food & all the other English oddities were quite, how you say, weird...lol Oh & I finally figured out what 'max headroom' was!!!

100% freedom isn't free, and yep hard work, + dedication, and a hell of a lot of patience! Love the USA and can't imagine living anywhere else.

oooh fun! We were in Bellevue (Bob worked at Microsoft for a while). Loved it, so pretty, but the climate was VERY similar to the UK.
I grew up in Bellevue. Now live south of there, in the capitol - Olympia, WA.
