  • HandiQuilter released the Moxie introductory longarm in October 2020, and was almost immediately sold out. The Moxie seeks to be a high quality yet affordable longarm for the new longarm quilter. Is it worth the hype? Spoiler: YES, and I’m going to tell you why.

I just received my moxie and 8 ft frame. Set up and started quilting.so far its doing good. I like that the bobbin winder is seperate. It takes a little time to learn how to run the machine but I like it. I had a q'nique before with a 10 foot frame but for what I do the 8 foot frame gives me more room and I don't quilt big king quilts.. I just wish the boards came with it to use pan to graphs on the back. Those are extra. They were included with the q'unque. Will review more as I use it.

My Moxie just came today in 6 boxes. One of the boxes had a promotional HQ Stitch 310 sewing machine. My husband right away started putting the frame together and he likes what he sees. The frame is strong and assembles easily so far. Tomorrow is the big day as the Moxie machine will be put on the frame. I walked into my sewing room tonight and moved the table shelf, it glides so smoothly with no drag or jerking. I plan to take advantage of the store training class. Wish me luck!

What a great review. I'm still in the decision stage as longarns are such an investment and I likely will remain a hobby quilter. You gave me a lot of food for thought!

Thanks for your review on the Moxie. This is exactly what I was looking for to finish my quilts. I didn’t want a fancy sewing machine upgrade, my featherweight and Bernina 930 are perfect for ME. I like the idea of the simplicity and being able to start practicing right away. Your review was what I needed to research and now looking onto purchasing one of my own.

I have been considering this machine for about a year and your video solidified my decision to buy this model. Love the price point. Thank you so much for your review 💗 💓

It looks like they came out with a new one now. Looks similar but better. I think it’s called Capri 18, 18 inches throat space. But you still have to move your quilt instead of the handles like domestic machine.

Thank you for a great review. I ordered this on this review and had about a month. I find all to be correct and true. I also do ruler work and find this much easier if keep in a 10 in area in mind . Love the machine so far.

The Moxi is also wonderful for an older person that might not be able to quilt for many more years and doesn't want to invest in a more expensive machine

You can attach a table with Prostitcher lite to the machine for automated quilting.

I appreciate this because you explain things that other videos on the moxie never even touched on; for example the differences between the different stitch modes and how big of a block you can do; stuff like that.
Here’s one of the concerns that I have: I would like to be able to quilt 12 inch blocks in entirety; for example if I’m working in a circular pattern around the block I don’t want to have to stop somewhere in the middle of the block and mess up my pattern, just because it’s time to move the quilt, because the machine can’t reach the rest of the block. So what I’m wondering is, now that you’ve had it for a little while, have you tried to quilt a whole quilt with 12 inch blocks? And if so, by the time your quilt got rolled up in the neck of the machine, were you still able to quilt an entire 12 inch block? Or did you have to split the block up because it was time to move the quilt?
Thank you! I really appreciate your input and experience.
PS: what kind of machine did you have before?

Which sit-down longarm do you have? I can't decide if I want a frame or table.

Hi Sharon! I don't have a sit down longarm. I have a Juki J150 industrial machine, though, that I LOVE. You can read that review here: www.stringandstory.com/blog/jukij150qvpsewingmachinereview

Hi Sharon! I just bought the Moxie (just came today!!) I wanted a sit-down machine too. The Moxie frame will adjust low enough that you can use a chair with it. I bought the chair that was recommended, but if you use something different, just make sure it has wheels!

@@andiyoho1451 thanks for the info on the adjustable height. I was wondering about that as I'm 5'5" and some are to tall while others are to short..Thanks again.
