Thank you for asking but, no just my domestic. I am not a quilter per say just love to dabble with fabrics and thread when the mood hits. I love to see others creative beauties though.
I actually did buy a longarm (Tin Lizzie 18) and quilted a couple of quilts on it. Somehow, I never became comfortable with it. It sat unused for years, which was a shame because it was not cheap. I think it was at least 20 years ago and it cost as much as your Moxie did, which was a lot more money in those days. I eventually got rid of the frame and the machine itself is sitting in my sewing room on the floor. Do better than I did! Your Moxie is really nice, much nicer looking than mine was. Make friends with her!
Sorry you didn’t get on with yours. I know the feeling from my Bernina! We didn’t make friends. Hopefully I’ll be able to befriend this one! I’ve already figured out I had it set to far to small a stitch length so that will be why the stitches didn’t look right to me!
In January of 2022 I bought a Qnique 21 Pro from the Grace company with a 10 ft Continuum frame plus Automation. I had some real issues with tension but I think I finally have that figured out. I have quilted 3 quilts on it. 2 with automatic ( which I struggle with greatly) and 2 quilts with free motion. I’m not very good at that but I get by with it and it doesn’t look bad, I’m probably just more critical of my work. However I’m just now after eight months just now beginning to enjoy it more..
Love to watch you play. I think the Crafty Gemini has a Moxie and has explained some of the controls. Happy quilting. Edited to add: you could make a couple of whole cloth quilts to get some great practice. I made quilts for my dogs and cats out of yardage, no patchwork. Went wild practicing loops and stars and meandering.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m eyeing one but can’t justify it yet. I’m currently quilting on a Singer 9960 with a 6.5” throat. The pain is real. 😀
I feel your pain! That’s why I kept trying so many quilt as you go methods 😂. It is doable but maybe takes more thinking time to figure out how to get those big quilts through a small throat space!
I got my long arm because I hated pin basting so much, too! Worth every penny to never have to do that again. Keep practicing and you are going to love having it. Also, zippered leaders. I made my own and really like using them.
Oh My Goodness Kristen, Congratulations!!! Wonderful Purchase Girl, this is great. I would love a long arm, but my husband and I have downsized into a smaller house, our girls are grown, our grandchildren are grown, the last one is a senior this year so there was no reason for us to have a big house at this stage in our lives. I am so Happy For You because quilting your quilts will be so much easier for you now. I cannot wait to hear how this has changes your quilting journey, so exciting. So much fun is coming for you. By the way, you made a gorgeous rose on that cloth while you were playing in this video. Well, I am making my way through your videos, I really enjoy them and you have helped me a lot! Many thanks. 👏👏👏💖 have fun playing and learning your new toy, 🥰👍👏 Chris
Thanks so much! It definitely takes up a lot of space that’s for sure! Can’t imagine how much space you need for one of the big ones 😂! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
I have a King Quilter 2 no computer, for a year and half now! Everything you're saying and feeling I said and felt!! Do check out ruler quilting its quite fun! Am I an expert now? No, but I am a lot better now. About 6 months ago I bought back handles and have done panto quilting, it's fun too but I do prefer free motion. I worked at a quilt shop before I moved and ran a Statler Gamil, computerized. Which I loved and do miss that wonderful machine! But for home not an affordable machine. Just keep practicing you'll get better! But do try ruler work it's fun. You'll need a ruler base for your machine, a must for ruler quilting! Have fun and I wish you many hours of happy quilting!!
Thanks! Yes I bought the ruler kit including the base and I’m looking forward to trying it. I liked working with rulers on my domestic so hoping I can get better on the Moxie 🤞🏻!
Q'nique 15R Bought during pandemic, so the frame was free cuz sales were suffering. After practicing for 6 mos, I could do ruler work easily but freehand was SO hard, as compared to using the domestic. All I could do well was stippling. I broke down and got automation which cost as much as the machine did, but totally worth it. I buy all my pantos from Creative Stitches. Huge sales (less then half price) 4x a yr. $5 new release patterns all the time. I can finish a quilt top in a day! I love it! I can't sew new quilts to quilt, quick enough! I know you'll love it too! Try making a (kids size 44"x60") strip quilt ON the longarm. SO EASY and kids never notice mistakes! 😂
Kristen, that an exciting purchase, congratulations! I know you’ll get past your nervousness soon. Looking forward to watching you learn and see all your creativity grow. 🥰
Congratulations! I hope you love it. I bought a Grace Company/Brother machine over a year ago and have been quilting ao many tops I had made over the years. The lady who sold me mine said, on a domestic it is like writing your name by having the pen in your hand and moving the paper. These machines are like moving your pen across the paper. Have fun!
Kristen, I am so excited for You! You’re going to have so much fun! No more fighting or struggling on the domestic for larger quilts-Awesome! I am a bit jealous because I just don’t have the room for one but if I did, I’d be jumping on getting a Moxie also! Congratulations 🎉 for biting the bullet and getting a longarm for Yourself! I can’t wait to see your progress with it! Thank You for Sharing!
I just got a Moxie XL with an 8 ft frame. I, too, was worried about space. I can add the 2 more feet at a later date. It was amazing to me how similar our quilting journies are. I use pantographs. Working on free motion. This machine and frame is not nearly the learning curve that my Bernina was! The thing with an industrial machine, which this is, get used to fiddling with tension. HQ has great video support. 2 quilts done, 3 more waiting to be done. All the best.
Have fun and I'll be watching your journey! True Blue Quilts is doing something called Sketch-tember to develop FMQ patterns. One was flames! She uses a whiteboard and makers for practicing.
I am also considering a Moxie and I just found your video. So glad that you gave an honest overview. I rented one at my local dealer and I am seriously considering purchasing one in 2024. Hope you do an update at some point.
This is a working studio, not a museum, so leave things as they are till you need a change. This room is for play and joy, not satisfying someone else's dream of precision neatness. I love your candor. "am I intimidated by this machine.. YES" . ))) Its ok the machine takes up half the room. My loom takes up a good share of my kitchen. I have to walk sideways around it to get to the stove and the bathroom door on the back side of the loom. Who cares ))))) There is joy. )))
Congratulations! Tiffany of Tiffany's Quilting Life has quite a few long arm videos. She does all free motion quilting and has some great tips and techniques. Tucker from Tucker Sewing and Quilting has quite a few too.
I own bernina q20 on classic frame with qmatic....I also have bernina 770 qe tula pink which I love except I cannot sew bowl cozies on my Bernina (too thick). this small thing really bothers me because seems for the price I should be able to sew whatever I want.... yes I've watched your video about 770qe trade in but doubt my dealer would even consider. I got my q20 for Christmas but my husband lost his left lower leg (below knee) to necrotizing fasciitis (flesh eating bacteria) may 13th and spent 54 days in hospital. we are still waiting for prosthetic. so I still not had enough time to learn it so totally understand you being intimidated. your videos inspire me (i admire you for doing free motion and ruler work).... that really intimates me but you make it look easy
I’m so sorry your husband and you have had to go through that! Sounds horrible of course you haven’t been practicing. Big hugs! You will get some time back I’m sure when everything settles down in time. Be patient with yourself and just have fun having a go when you have a chance. When you can get to it try to make it a stress release rather than a stress creator by allowing yourself to make mistakes. I make tons of them! Take care of yourself and sorry again for all you’ve been going through.
I admired your courage to make this purchase. I have been quilting since 2013 and have thought of wanting to get a long arm (mostly last year) and really considering the space but did not go for it because I don’t a space for it for now. Besides, I do not have the support of my husband so I don’t want to hear it!
Yes I’ve kind of taken over this room in our house and bought the machine with my own money so honestly I didn’t really ‘ask’ my husband 😂. The trade off being of course I also didn’t ask him to help set it up! He is used to me doing things like this by now though!
I’m excited for you to have this machine! I was just about to look into getting a Moxie (some day) since it was described as an entry level machine. Take us on your journey with her - warts n all 😁
Hello! I bought my Moxie and 10ft Loft frame in March 2022 from The Sew Yeah Bros. and I'm in heaven! I built it myself in 2 days only so I know the mechanics of the table and the machine. I also used the Bult App on my phone! I have completed #7 Queen to King size quilts...All are for my family but my last one was for a commission, Twin size Chicken Quilt and made a substantial amount of money! I am getting ready to computerize my machine and I'm excited! I did invest in the Ruler Table and a large Spoon Foot. Previously I owned a sit down Viking but the quilts were getting too heavy for me to maneuver. The Moxie machine is an excellent machine to start with and also to add onto in your own time.
Congrats on your Movie purchase! I have one, bought in US May 2021 and love it. I got the table and quilt from the back setup to use pantographs and really enjoy quilting with those. Can't wait to follow your journey with this machine.
I purchased a Moxie 10 months ago. I have done 48 quilts so far. Some for others. I wish it was a bit quieter, much louder than a regular sewing machine. I just love doing ruler work, yes I got the ruler kit and the panto kit.
Wow! 48 quilts is very impressive! Well done you! But yes my husband did remark on the noise. Mine is on a hardwood floor not sure if it would be quieter sitting on a rug or not.
I bought a Grace Company Q'nique 21 with a 10 ft frame just over a month ago. Still getting used to it, but so excited to have it. My quilts keep getting bigger and the struggle with the domestic machine is harder. How exciting for you. Handi Quilter has the best You Tube tutorials and I watch them a lot. Not so impressed with the tutorials from Grace Company.
Good for you!!! You and I have a bit of a similar journey as I started actively quilting a few years ago too! I took a half-step and purchased a Cutie frame from The Grace Company to use my Bernina 770QE instead. I like that I have a stitch regulator but the massive size of my machine is a nuisance. Hopefully one day I will purchase a good size Longarm once I convince my husband to give up another bedroom for it 🤣. Enjoy your new purchase!
Hope you get your sewing room soon and you should definitely start a channel if you have the urge. You don’t need to wait for a fancy sewing room either you can show folk how you sew now even if it’s in a smaller space!
CONGRATULATIONS KRISTEN!! Excited for you. I have never desired to purchase one but you will have so much fun and will definitely be happier that you have been with the regular machines
Congratulations! I purchased my Moxie last November. I'm still learning so much. There is also a product/company called QBOT that has a computerized product that is compatible with the Moxie that I saw a demo on and it looks really nice. I'm not sure if I want to go that way yet.
So exciting!! i would love a long arm but have tiny toddlers and no dedicated room so waiting for older kiddos! but when/if I have my eye on the Innova longarm
Thanks! I have little ones too but thankfully I do have a sewing room that they only come in when I’m there! My 5 year old can’t wait to try the Moxie. I need to sort out some kind of stool or something 🤣
Congratulations! The Moxie is a fun machine. I've had mine just a few months and still nervous with it. I have finished 4 quilts with just swirls, and 1 with stars added to the swirls. Today I'm trying leaves on a table runner. I'll be following you so we can learn together!
Congratulations on the moxie! You will get there because I know you are one determined girl!! You were going to have so much fun. One of these days you'll be stitching like a pro. Love your Channel
You are going to have so much fun 🎉😃 I bought a 80 inch quilting frame from Cotton Orchard that uses my own sewing machine. It is great not to have to baste my quilts now and I LOVE it. I still would love to practice more, but there’s always so much to do and so little time. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with your new Moxie 👍👏👏🇬🇧
I got mine in April and you’ve gone and done far more than I have done. I haven’t practice any intricate stitching But I have finished probably 16 quilts which were just sitting in my closet. Just a very open meandering but I’m happy. You will be nothing but happier the more you use it.
I am so happy for you. Enjoyed your video. Thank you so much. My neighbor is selling her 12ft long arm and I so badly want it and like you new to sewing and have been dreaming about owning a long arm but the space is an issue and I don’t want the opposite issue of having a machine and not being able to use it. The woman is old and wants to pass it on. I am not sure what to do.
I have the Babylock Gallant which is the Moxie. Just different brand. Im new also and am loving it!! I hope you do also. I didn't get Prostitcher lite either. Id like to get the rear handlebars and do some pantographs. Enjoy!!
OMG, I just bought a Long arm too (I'm waiting for it to arrive). I felt the same and did the exact same thing!! I also chose the Moxie as well. I am with you, Go for it, especially if you are intimidated. Quilting itself intimidated me and that is how I got started. I tried a QAYG baby quilt and got past my fears. It was the best thing Ive done. Im excited to see what quilt patterns you master and the QAYG method on the long arm. Have fun!
How exciting to have a long arm! I would love one, but like you have a small room, but the machine would be longer than my room is lol. Have fun learning your new toy.
I bought the Amara long arm that I will be getting it at the d. Of September when I get home from my trip. Enjoy! Looks Ike we both have a lot to learn
Congratulations! I look forward to seeing the amazing quilts you will create!! I got my longarm in July. I'm enjoying my challenge of learning. You are awesome!!
Kristen, so happy for you! I understand the excitement and nervousness on using. It is such a step up from having to horse around heavy quilts on a domestic machine. I have a Grace Q’nique 15R. It’s a very basic long arm, but having a frame big enough for a queen size and not having to crawl around on the floor to baste is so worth it. My free motion quilting is not as good as yours so I use pantographs from the back of the machine and they turn out well . Enjoy!
I am definitely not going to miss the basting! Used to take me at least an hour and I would end up with puckers anyway😂! I’m sure your quilts are beautiful with pantographs. I’ve seen lots of pretty ones and I like how uniform they look. My free motion still needs a lot of work but thanks for the compliment! I’m thinking of experimenting with stencils soon too.
Congratulations!! I looked into the Moxie. Drove about 2 hours to give it a try. I liked the feel of it. I am still looking and trying to convince myself that I need one. I have done several Queen size and only one KING size on my domestic machine. The others have been like for a double bed. I started quilting in Nov '21. I have done 14 quilts so far. How much space do you need in the back of the machine?
I think it depends if you are going to do quilting from the back. I have very little space at the back just the small amount to let the machine go back on the carriage. I crawled under the frame to film that bit behind the frame - I don’t have enough room to walk around it 😂
Hi Kirsten, delighted to see your new long arm machine! I too have just ordered one, as a complete beginner, been quilting for 2-3 years (covid!). I ordered an amara from pinhole quilting, due delivery in October and very excited as well as a bit scared. Looking forward to watching your journey alongside my own. Good luck!
I think you are brave to give this a try! I hope I will be that brave some day soon😊. Still new to quilt making and enjoy your your RUclips videos very much. They are very helpful❤️
Congratulations on getting the moxie! Now that you've had it a couple years, how happy are you with it? I would like to know how stable the set up is? Especially on a carpeted floor.
All of my machines are Baby Lock. So when I bought my longarm last year I went with the Baby Lock Regalia on a 10 foot frame. (That has an option to add 2 ft.) I bought the floor model on 5th Saturday which basically means I got 35% off!! I didn't buy the computer either. Wasn't willing to pay $10,000 more for that! Eek!
Hey. Thanks for the video. Really useful! Did you go and demo the machine before you purchased? Im based in Scotland so it’s a bit of a trek and wanted to check what you did. Thanks
Do you own a long arm? What kind?
Thank you for asking but, no just my domestic. I am not a quilter per say just love to dabble with fabrics and thread when the mood hits. I love to see others creative beauties though.
It’s definitely not a necessity 😂! Have fun dabbling!
I actually did buy a longarm (Tin Lizzie 18) and quilted a couple of quilts on it. Somehow, I never became comfortable with it. It sat unused for years, which was a shame because it was not cheap. Went wild practicing loops and stars and meandering.
Thanks! I saw a couple of hers but not sure I’ve seen that one I’ll have a look for it.
Congratulations Kristen! You go girl and wishing you many happy hours of creative happiness with Miss Moxie.
Thanks so much!
Enjoy your new toy! Can’t wait to see how you progress.
Thanks so much!
I got my long arm because I hated pin basting so much, too! Worth every penny to never have to do that again. Keep practicing and you are going to love having it. Also, zippered leaders. I made my own and really like using them.
I’ve heard of those - I’ll need to look into that some more. Thanks!
Oh My Goodness Kristen, Congratulations!!! Wonderful Purchase Girl, this is great. Congratulations on getting your longarm, you will enjoy your quilting and beautiful stitches
Thanks so much!
Oh I'm so happy for you. You deserve it. Hugs
Aw thanks so much!

Kristen, that an exciting purchase, congratulations! I know you’ll get past your nervousness soon. Looking forward to watching you learn and see all your creativity grow. 🥰
Thanks so much!
Looks amazing for just beginning. Awesome. You are going to have fun. Am jealous.
Thanks! Once I relax with it I’m sure I will have fun.

Exactly so much easier to write this way! …will my family be receiving quilted letters next? 😂
Such a fun purchase. It’s so nice to see things from the eyes/hands of a true beginner.
That’s definitely me😂 I’ve already learned loads since that video!
Kristen, I am so excited for You! You’re going to have so much fun! No more fighting or struggling on the domestic for larger quilts-Awesome! Aw thanks so much! Space is definitely an issue - my room feels a lot more crowded now 😂
Wow, congratulations!! I hope you have the best time with your new friend!!

I am excited to see how your long arm journey goes
Thanks!!

Oh wow, so happy for you, nope I don't have the money or the space. Enjoy the journey

Have fun and I'll be watching your journey! True Blue Quilts is doing something called Sketch-tember to develop FMQ patterns. One was flames! She uses a whiteboard and makers for practicing.

Congratulations on the purchase of a long arm 😊. Like most quilters it is something I would love as well and have checked out the Moxie. Enjoy !!!
Thanks!!
congratulations!! you will do great.
Thanks so much!
Yeah! We can learn at the same time then! Jealous of your extra throat space! Go you!
Check out Leah Day. She has a ton that may be more helpful.
Yes I’ve seen some of her videos she’s great. I’m sure I’ll watch more!
How exciting!!!! I can’t wait to see future videos of your progression 💕💕
Thanks so much!
They should really have more videos from new users it would mean more to show us we can do it.
I’ll be doing some more soon!
Ah fab! And you won’t have to baste either if you have the frame. Husbands always come around in my experience 😉 - good luck!
Lucky duck so happy for u girl
Aw thanks so much!
I can’t wait for u to show us how u use it moxie should pay u I can’t wait until I have a sewing room and i want to make sewing channel in my future
Hope you get your sewing room soon and you should definitely start a channel if you have the urge. You don’t need to wait for a fancy sewing room either you can show folk how you sew now even if it’s in a smaller space!
Congratulations 🎉. I'm envious of the space you have! You'll do fine.... you're adventurous. Thank you for the video 😊👍
Thanks for the vote of confidence!
Congratulations Kristen 🥳🎉
I just bought a second hand longarm a few weeks ago!!
Yeah! Congratulations!
CONGRATULATIONS KRISTEN!! Excited for you. I have never desired to purchase one but you will have so much fun and will definitely be happier that you have been with the regular machines
Thanks so much!
How exciting! I know you will be great at long arming!
Thanks! 🤞🏻
Please show how you load your quilt. Thank you for posting your journey, looking forward to seeing more videos!
Thanks! I’m still trying a couple ways but I’ll definitely show you guys when I have settled on a favourite way to load them!
@@ScrapFabricLove If there’s more than one way show that too👍
Congratulations! I purchased my Moxie last November. I'm still learning so much. There is also a product/company called QBOT that has a computerized product that is compatible with the Moxie that I saw a demo on and it looks really nice. I'm not sure if I want to go that way yet.
Fab! I’m sure there is tons to learn! I’ve got a long road ahead!
I’ve got a moxie, I love it.
Yeah!
Congratulations! The Moxie is a fun machine. I've had mine just a few months and still nervous with it. I have finished 4 quilts with just swirls, and 1 with stars added to the swirls. Today I'm trying leaves on a table runner. I'll be following you so we can learn together!
Yeah! Glad we can learn together!
Congratulations on the moxie! You will get there because I know you are one determined girl!! You were going to have so much fun. One of these days you'll be stitching like a pro. Love your Channel
Thanks so much!
Aw fab! I looked at those frames once too! Sounds like a great set up you have!
I got mine in April and you’ve gone and done far more than I have done. I haven’t practice any intricate stitching But I have finished probably 16 quilts which were just sitting in my closet. Just a very open meandering but I’m happy. You will be nothing but happier the more you use it.
Aw thanks! Giving me confidence! Well done you finishing 16 quilts!!
Would it be hard to resell it if you didn’t end up using it?
If I ever finish the patchwork quilt I started about 30 years ago I’ll get you to quilt it for me 😉
You’re on!
I have the Babylock Gallant which is the Moxie. Just different brand. Im new also and am loving it!! I hope you do also. I didn't get Prostitcher lite either. Id like to get the rear handlebars and do some pantographs. Enjoy!!
I am enjoying it - glad you are too!
Have fun!
Yeah! We can learn at the same time! Congratulations on buying yours!
How exciting to have a long arm! I would love one, but like you have a small room, but the machine would be longer than my room is lol. Have fun learning your new toy.
I think there is a smaller frame option but yes it is definitely big!
I bought the Amara long arm that I will be getting it at the d. Of September when I get home from my trip. Enjoy! Looks Ike we both have a lot to learn
Yeah! Congratulations! We can learn at the same time 😀
I am so happy for you and can't wait to watch future videos on this. :)
Thanks!
Congratulations! I look forward to seeing the amazing quilts you will create!! I got my longarm in July. I'm enjoying my challenge of learning. You are awesome!!
Thanks! And congratulations on yours too! Do let me know if you see me making any massive errors 😂!
Good luck!
Yeah! We can learn together! I totally understand the fear/excitement mix!
Wow! Good for you! I’m looking forward to seeing your progress. I’m toying with getting one too 😀
Thanks so much!
I think you are brave to give this a try! I hope I will be that brave some day soon😊. Still new to quilt making and enjoy your your RUclips videos very much. They are very helpful❤️
Seriously the sooner you try anything you are scared of the sooner it won’t be scary. That’s my motto anyways! Thanks so much for watching!
I love my Moxie
Enjoy!!!!!
Thanks!
I’m one of the last ones - I am holding out- maybe I’ll learn to hand stitch very well-
I do admire those of you who have the patience for hand sewing. It looks gorgeous when it is done well but I am far too impatient 😂
I just got the rebel i like it but it doesn't have a thread cutter i would like that on mine because of those back threads
Congrats on the Moxie! Can't wait to se what you create! I do not have one, not likely to ever purchase, but never say never, right?
Thanks! I didn’t think I would either. But it is a big purchase for sure.
Congrats
Thanks!
Congratulations on getting the moxie! Now that you've had it a couple years, how happy are you with it? I would like to know how stable the set up is? Especially on a carpeted floor.
I am still very happy with it. I have a wooden floor though so can’t give you any feedback on the carpet - sorry!
Eek!
Yours sounds fab! They don’t seem to sell as much babylock over here! I’ve only ever seen Babylock overlockers in the U.K. not anything else 🤷♀️
Wooo hooo!
Thanks!
sew excited for you
Thanks sew much! 😉
@@ScrapFabricLove I took an online class from string and story and that gave me confidence in different designs on yhe Moxie
@@ScrapFabricLove I bought an adjustable bathtub tray from Amazon
Good tip! I might look for that if I don’t start feeling more comfortable!
Hey. Thanks for the video. Really useful! Did you go and demo the machine before you purchased? Im based in Scotland so it’s a bit of a trek and wanted to check what you did.
Thanks
Nope! I just went for it!
@@ScrapFabricLove ok cool!! It has got great reviews! Thank you!!
How was it moving the long frame supports into your home? I'm worried about maneuvering through or around corners in my house
The frame came in pieces in boxes. I built it in the room it is in now.
Can you you use a computer with it or is it totally manual? I thought you did pretty good on your first attempts.
You can use a computer but the computer - pro stitcher lite - is a separate purchase. I didn’t buy it so mine is just manual.
Will this frame hold a king size quilt?
I got the 10 ft frame and I think it does hold a king size but I haven’t done one on it yet!
What is price all setup machine please reply 😊
I think that will depend who you buy it from and what add ons you choose. For me it was £5k here in the U.K. from Pinhole Quilting.
