Just a note if you're looking for the guest additions, it should be located where virtualbox path is located. Should be c drive>program files>oracle>virtualbox and the iso disk image for vboxguestadditions should be there.
My gosh, after an hour of looking through different videos, I finally found yours. Thanks so much!!!! Super useful information that a lot of people have forgotten to mention when teaching us about installing this for the first time. One important thing I bumped into that wasn't mentioned in this video was that the program requires GCC installs for this to work. I apparently didn't so had to find how to get it installed, here's what I found and it worked for me. First required: sudo apt-get install gcc Second: sudo apt-get install build-essential and a restart would be a good idea.
Ironically this video is ALSO missing a step. Here's a more straight forward and fool-proof method: 1. Run this in the terminal: sudo apt install build-essential dkms 2. In the VirtualBox menu click on Devices then Install Guest Additions. Click Run. 3. A CD icon should appear on your desktop. Double click it to open it. 4. Click Run Software on the top-right corner of the window. 5. Restart your VM. Note that if you check your Storage settings in VirtualBox, you will see the same .iso shown in the video. :)
I wanna ask one question. İ did what you did in the video. But When i try to click - in the VB Guest file - Run Software . No action will happen. İ mean "Run software" is NOT ACTIVE. Doyu have anyone to help at this issue ?
Amazing tutorial thanks, works for me finally. Just one thing I want to say: I know those who create these softwares are very smart, but they're not really smart in creating documentations and manuals, which leads many of the things they create toward remaining unknown to the rest of the world!...
Thank you. The only issue I was having at first was Guest Additions was set as primary IDE. I changed it to second, logged in and ran software and it worked for me without bugs. Thanks again!
Try to install the recent version of VirtualboxGuestAdditions from blogs.oracle.com/joshis/virtualbox-guest-additions-iso-download and it will work. Preferably, install ubuntu-19.10 and VirtualboxGuestAdditions_6.1.6 together
I ran into the problem, when I tried to click open in the software nothing happened, So I went to the cd location and right clicked open terminal then ran ./autorun.sh and it worked
another tip, change also the advanced setting of the virutal machine both to biderctional, otherwise installing the guest addition will not help, do everything properly
Didn't work for me. Probably it's because I had the VM Running Xubuntu instead of Ubuntu "Vanilla". I didn't have the Run Software option in the top-right corner, so I tried to install the additional guest components through the package manager, but I still couldn't copy and paste from and to the VM. Regardless, thank you for your video. Now I know what to look for next time I try
