How To Play The Game Of Rounders

- Once a year we gather in the field for a game of rounders. This is how we play it, though it's possible that our version deviates a little from the official rules.. We collect anyone who's around, argue about the rules, eat too much and generally have a very good time...
Rounders is a bit like softball or baseball or cricket -- but with more falling over. We play it with a tennis-ball and a variety of bats and racquets. The dogs like it a lot and so far no one has been seriously injured at all. We would highly recommend it.
Thanks to Ron for additional filming.

We used to play this in school in Denmark back in the 80's. Fun game! I've also found it kinda hilarious that base ball is just a children's game with extra steps 😄
You wouldnt be able to play baseball. You'd get hit once and quit 😂
@@PhillipV-qm4mfProbably!
As a Yank, it interests me how rounders became "town ball" in the USA, which became baseball
Delightful!
I am so glad I was part of this wonderful day - even though I watched it on my computer from the other side of the world .... three and a half years later. Well worth it - great fun, great friends, great day. Cheers.
Thank you. It's a reminder that we can make them happen - it's just takes a bit of planning..
Rounders was always the best game in P.E class.
I def agree
Sometimes ll
Good GRIEF!!! I just learned of this and that it is as old as Henry the VIII! THIS is where baseball came from!!! Never knew it existed til now. Weird because watching this and the bunglers playing it looks identical to bunglers bungling baseball here in Central New York State.- right down to the landscape. .... Except the barking dog would be a lab.
We used to play this in primary school here in Australia in the 80's :D
Thanks for the flash back ;)
Rob.
Didn't they play it with a Little square bat in Australia?
@@JohnSmith-rw8uh We used a tennis racket & ball at our primary school.
Pure joy, all of it. So much so, it actually caused me to weep a little watching it, but in a good way. I hope you all still do this.
And I love the dog calling the runner "Out, out, out!"
arthritis, death and just plain old-age has overwhelmed some of us. Just another reminder to enjoy it while you can!
Thanks Rob - some things might be worth doing again? : - )
Wasted my time at college in London studying sociology - could have been a national Rounders star. Suposedly this game is played with short bats and one arm swings but these bats are like Little League baseball bats and people were swinging two handed like baseball.
We play the same game in Russia, it's called "laptá". The game of my childhood.
My teacher at pe is making me watch this , jk love rounders
Looks like a wonderful time! We all need more of that, don't we?
Awesome - this is rounders as I remember it
Don't put thrones in this game ;)
I truly enjoyed watching this game of rounders. I love that your version includes all ages. Usually events I attend, the olders folks sit on the side line while the young and energetic folks play the games.
TheCajuntransplant Us old folks like running around too : - )
:)
+TheCajuntransplant STOP SMILING YOU'RE A PLANT
We play it in the United States Virgin Islands located in the Caribbean. We too play with teams with a mixture of younger and more mature folk.
*My class in school have to play rounders every Wednesday for p.e (unless its raining) for 2 hours after lunch time and I really dont know hoe to play it. So I got some answers from this video so thanks-*
Omg same this is all the same as me it’s on Wednesday and it’s after lunch
Grandaddy of baseball. Cricket is not.
It's just not cricket !
@@JohnSmith-rw8uh ?
At school, we'd often have "half rounders" -- if you got to 2nd base, you scored a half point
I just came across this game when looking up what a rounder's bat was. Great to see it in action and you all look like you are had a lot of fun!
This is the best amazment I have watched 😀😀😀😀
So is it 1,2,3 strikes you're out at the olde rounders game?...
I think your intro is awesome! Your volg is awesome!
Who's idea was it to make the sheep dogs the refs? Not that they did any worse then the nfl replacement referees.
+Kyle Bavis WOW THAT WAS FUNNY... not!!!
+Kim Shin Wook Ur not funny u always act like a loner who thinks they're funny
That was absolutely delightful to watch! Can I come and play next time?

+OleoBlog COOL STORY BRO
my favourite part is 3:55 to 3:57
Used to play this at school way back in the 60s in UK. Baseball here in U.S. is similar but they have never heard of Rounders!
Cool now I can tell the class teacher in P H E lessons eeeeeeek
As a baseball fan, and speaking for all baseball fans...this gives me the urge to travel to the uk and take someones grandma 450 dead center and pimp the bat flip😂
I used to play rounders when i was a kid
1:02 Little Miss Butterfingers ;)
Is there any rules??
Of course - we're just not sure what they are : - )
Your intro looks like a children's book
Frankie heald I think that's a compliment - so thank you, Frankie

The dogs were so cute
This is soo beautiful

good video
It is amazing how reading "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" made me found this video.
Lmao me too. I sometimes think I spend more time looking up stuff I don't know, than reading but it's all good fun
so many gilfs
Niceeeeee
Played this yesterday with my colleagues! Its really fun. Here, we usually let the batter throw the ball before hitting it
Don't know who enjoyed it most, the dogs or people. Fun video, TY! Mrs. Tc
awesome vid! ty for demo of this game that was the predecessor to american baseball. it's quite funny to see baseball played in such high grass.
funny very funny when the guy trips over
So this version uses the longer bat like baseball
hi
I really enjoyed the video. Such a good community. Loads of fun.
I wanna play! What a great group of fun people!
I think the losing team should have to wash up after the picnic, lol
Yeahhh baseball is wayyyyy better
Professional baseball... Is boring
lmao. look at their swing technique!
Of course, the dogs are the best players.
In rounders you don’t drop your bat or your out and you need a backstop I play at school/high school but this video is really fun to watch
You're probably right, Lily - we're not very good at the rules. But we do have fun though : - )
Can I hang out please hahha. Looks like a hell of a time
Are they just a little clumsy, or is there drinking involved?
We're just rusty - we only get to play once a year. (No drink involved.)
a bit low quality...
I'm here because of Jacksepticeye

So... we invented baseball too?
Baseball's a modern game based on rounders. But who invented rounders?
That is the silliest, most fun version of baseball I have ever seen.
How is this not baseball?
Or how is baseball not rounders? (They are essentially the same game, I think.)
It's been said that American baseball evolved from rounders. As mentioned in the beginning of the video, it's an ancient game. So baseball and softball came from rounders, not the other way around.
In Ken Burns' series "Baseball" it's even mentioned that the game most likely evolved from rounders.
Because they use dogs as short stop.
baseball/softball, irish rounders and welsh base ball are siblings, they are the same basic game with different rules.
@Maritza Piccarillo what is your issue with America and the negativity?
