@@mammothplant IMO blood memories might even be objectively better as a standalone, but I think a remix of a classic would have hit harder as a finale with decades of buildup even if it would have been an objectively worse standalone. Edit: if blood memories is a remix of sorts, I never caught it but I did sniff out some 'edge' in blood memories at one point.

No, Rance X has no version of ontology, the theme when facing demon kings is decisive battle (except one fight, but that one has a relaxed and hopeful theme, since it's not a fight you're supposed to lose)

@Goldmetal Alchesmith True. I seriously think that is very hard to find a fantasy-medieval kind of fiction in a more complete status than KR anywhere. It's a heavy work and literally have anything you can expect in this kind of adventures well executed. It would be a way more powerful experience as a full remake imo.
@Goldmetal Alchesmith lol I love the hero system. Rance's worldbuilding is awesome, I honestly don't know bout any RPG-genre deconstruction this clever and detailed. Especially the hero and level systems are quite outstanding and I like how much relevant they are to the story of these Series, by example (spoiler): How maou Gil actually beated the "hero" system using her "human-farms" strategy to keep most of humanity alive while fulfilling her duties as a demon king (to keep hurting mankind, as Blood Memories are always demanding it) Everything seems so simple at the first look, but when you go deeper you get surprised. Worldbuilding is genius-like imo, and have a lot of crude potential. By the other hand, I would really appreciate to feel Rance-World on Teoman POV, he was a nice character imo (Most people think otherwise though lol)
