  • Satsuki Azalea Bonsai Tree
    My satsuki azalea bonsai tree is in full bloom, This Satsuki Azalea tree was repotted few weeks ago. I added chicken pallets between layers of bonsai soil. Unwittingly I started to prune it after repotting and then stopped when I realised it was too early. The Azalea bonsai trees should be pruned after it has finished flowering.
    On the top right hand of the video I have added links to Satsuki Azalea bonsai care and also Satsuki Azalea bonsai lectures, be sure to watch these videos as well as they are the complete Azalea care and azalea maintenance guides.

    Very nice flower cover. I am sure that there are many of us that fall into the trap of pruning before flowering. I have to tell myself that I am only making the tree more hardy.

      Hi Craig, glad you liked it. I have made many mistakes, on this occasion, fortunately the penny dropped and I stopped. Other wise the whole tree would have been like the pruned section.

    Incredible. Does this tree over winter well? I know in the ground the cold is ok. But as bonsai does it require any special care?

    • @mikbonsai
      @mikbonsai  6 лет назад +1

      As you know I live in West London, during winter there is no extra care, it sits happily on its bench. No extra or special care in this case.

    Wow! What a beautiful blooming bonsai! love it.I'm sure I can never have such great bonsai...I'm feeling so bad n strange too that this year my bougainvillias didn't bloom! Don't know why...I did pruning etc in time but...
    Wishing you everything best

      Hello Anita, I am so happy that you like it. Sorry to hear about your Bougainvilleas, Pruning should be in early spring before the plant has started to produce buds for new flowers. If in containers, the try using balanced liquid fertiliser once a month, start feeding in Spring through out the growing season. I don't have one of these, but am hoping to buy one from an importer of these trees. I hope you have better luck next year.
      all the best

      mikbonsai Thanks Iqbal for the guidance.But this happened for first time in 6 years.I see two reasons--first the weather was highly unpredictable n other...I took them for granted.
      I'll follow your tips next time.

    • @mikbonsai

      Thanks for the heads up, plants are just like people they respond to the environment around them, it the taking fro granted bit the plants sense and like three year old kids they throw tantrums and this is their way of showing un happiness.
      Good luck for the next year, I will keep my fingers crossed.
      Cheers

    What specimen satsuki is this? I’m currently looking for the particular satsuki that blossoms with white and pink flowers. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    • @mikbonsai
      @mikbonsai  3 года назад

      I am not sure which Satsuki specie this is. Try calling bonsai nurseries to check if the stock the Pink and White flowering ones, that's all I can suggest.
