RENJI would never put himself over his captain. Being married to his Captain's sister who's also a captain, I see why he feels comfortable being the more respected vice Captain. This makes the 6 division really powerful, basically having two captain ranks under one squad. Epic

It's one of the Noble houses and for him to hold a prestigious title is unlikely and a testament to the mutual respect that has developed over the years between captain and lieutenant

Not true. Byakuya survived because the story want to make As Nodt creepy obsessive. Once he lost the bankai, he grew erratic. Byakuya alwaus gets tje creepy ones.Also it served to show how evil squad 0 was. Think about it. I'm pretty sure Renji was supposed to substitute Byakuya initially. Kubo wanted Byakuya dead in the first Quincy invasion and if it wasn't for his fans (I'm one of them tho), Renji would've taken his place.

The only way he'd accept being Captain is if he took the title from Byakuya. I actually disagree. Lisa and Iba have shown great maturity. Renji is too reckless and, to put it bluntly, dumb to be Captain. Even his own Zanpakuto spirit, the literal embodiment of his own power that comes from his soul, didn't respect him. He needed Ichibe's help to even realize his spirit lied and that he wasn't using his real Bankai. Renji simply isn't qualified to be Captain. He has the power, but not the mentality.

He'll definitely be the next captain of squad 6 when Byakuya steps down, whenever that is. Especially after basically marrying into the Kuchiki family. I think Byakuya sees him as either a little brother or a son in some way by now, definitely a solid bond between the two.
Also its not just killing a captain its specifically killing kenpachi and there's maybe 2-3 soul reapers that could pull that off. And one of them isn't even in the gotei 13, another is in prison for like 10,000 more years, and the 3rd is already a captain

As early as before he joined the gotei 13 Renji talks about catching up to and surpassing Byakuya. Its not entierly clear if after the SS arc if Renji still holds those feelings, but personally id say he does just not in the same contensious way as before.

It is simple. Renji is a humble guy, who respects his captain. Besides this, despite his power, renji is better at being a loyal wingman who follows orders. And there is nothing bad with this. Not everyone is born a leader. Some people are just the best man for the job
The proficiency test is not just bankai showcase, you need to showcase your proficiency in all arts of combat the shinigami academy offers which includes Kido and Renji absolutely sucks at it lol. So that is mostly out of option for him one way or another

I always viewed it as he's watching his brother in laws back. Rukia loves her brother and Renji knows how much pain she'd be in if he ever fell in battle or something like that. Despite having the lieutenant rank, Renji has relatively surpassed the threshold of power that would be typically expected from a captain ranked Shinigami, and that doesn't even compare to the case of the wild card, Ichigo Kurosaki, who's threshold of power is on par, if not, above Head captain rank, despite not even holding the rank of seat officer. This is a classic case of "your title doesn't mean shit if you're not training." A lesson that alot of Shonen Anime rivals had to learn the hard way (I'm talking to you, Vegeta).

We know that the Kuchiki clan doesn't mind adopting people into its ranks, meaning one doesn't necessarily need to be a true blood Kuchiki like Rukia or Kouga (hope i spelled the name correctly 😂), Muramasa's wielder. Renji, by matrimony is now a Kuchiki. Husbands changing surnames is not unheard of...Ishin did it. Byakuya has no sons, and from the looks of things, he ain't looking to wed anytime soon, if at all ever. Renji is really being prepared as the next Head of the Kuchiki clan and automatic Captain of the 6th...time is not an enemy to a Shinigami, so why not 😂. Unless Byakuya is training someone from the clan like his grandfather did for him, i don't see why Renji would wanna move. MF Renji must just get his Kido right for crying out loud 😅
Renji is Average Captain material and IF Byak were to die he could take over, but like the rest of the "new" Captains [exception of Rukia], he would only be covering the overall Average strength of the Gotei and wouldn't be able to fill the powerful shoes of Byakuya.
Only three ways Renji becomes a Captains : 1. He surpasses Byakuya. Renji stated himself that he does not want to become a Captain until he surpasses Byakuya. 2. Byakuya joins Squad 0, prompting Renji to take the Captain Seat for Squad 6. This is the least likely case and it's possible Renji wouldn't even become captain because of his conviction to surpass Byakuya. 3. Byakuya dies and Renji honors him by taking the seat of Captain. This almost happened in the manga, but Kubo kept Byakuya alive thankfully.
Being a captain is not only about strength and Bankai level and all this stuff. A captain has a lot of responsabilities and work to do in soul society outside of combat and Renji does not fit in that position. I suppose Kenpachi division does not have as much paperwork or things to cover and maybe he assigned Yumichika for this work or something like this. Just a thought...
Captain is about strength & they delegate their paperwork to their subordinates. Rangiku is too lazy to work & Toshiro does it, Mayuri has never done paperwork in his life & too focused on science & Hisagi was responsible for every paperwork in his division

Not true. Byakuya survived because the story want to make As Nodt creepy obsessive. Once he lost the bankai, he grew erratic. Byakuya alwaus gets tje creepy ones.Also it served to show how evil squad 0 was. Think about it. They save a prince, but allowed Yamma who was purposefully nerfed by their standard and other thousands to die. The fact you missed this part of the plot tells me you listened to someone else's ideology and follow them, instead of the actual writer's thought process.

I actually disagree. Lisa and Iba have shown great maturity. Renji is too reckless and, to put it bluntly, dumb to be Captain. Even his own Zanpakuto spirit, the literal embodiment of his own power that comes from his soul, didn't respect him. He needed Ichibe's help to even realize his spirit lied and that he wasn't using his real Bankai. Renji simply isn't qualified to be Captain. He has the power, but not the mentality.

I would argue that renji would give byakuya a hard time in a pure sword fight. He is clearly captain level in terms of skill and reiatsu.
I believe he is beyond captain level similar to Ichigo bcz he beat a Quincy with the same level strength of coyote stark with one shot basically, stark took 3 captain's and shunsui(that wasn't taking the fight seriously) and Byakuya seems to be one of the stronger captain's, and only got folded by as nodt bcz he is one of the stronger quincies

In addition to that, Renji uses Byakuya as a motivator. Not only does he want to help and support his captain, but Renji strives to surpass Byakuya as well. As early as before he joined the gotei 13 Renji talks about catching up to and surpassing Byakuya. Its not entierly clear if after the SS arc if Renji still holds those feelings, but personally id say he does just not in the same contensious way as before.
He really went from " I want to surpass Byakuya " to " I'm with Byakuya ".
honestly the recommendation method would be most likely for him if he were to want it, by the end of the series all the captains know full well that he's overly qualified for the position

I always viewed it as he's watching his brother in laws back. Rukia loves her brother and Renji knows how much pain she'd be in if he ever fell in battle or something like that. This is a classic case of "your title doesn't mean shit if you're not training." A lesson that alot of Shonen Anime rivals had to learn the hard way (I'm talking to you, Vegeta).

We know that the Kuchiki clan doesn't mind adopting people into its ranks, meaning one doesn't necessarily need to be a true blood Kuchiki like Rukia or Kouga (hope i spelled the name correctly 😂), Muramasa's wielder.
Renji, by matrimony is now a Kuchiki. Husbands changing surnames is not unheard of...Ishin did it. Byakuya has no sons, and from the looks of things, he ain't looking to wed anytime soon, if at all ever.

Renji is Average Captain material and IF Byak were to die he could take over, but like the rest of the "new" Captains [exception of Rukia], he would only be covering the overall Average strength of the Gotei and wouldn't be able to fill the powerful shoes of Byakuya.

Only three ways Renji becomes a Captains
:
1. He surpasses Byakuya. Renji stated himself that he does not want to become a Captain until he surpasses Byakuya.
2. Byakuya joins Squad 0, prompting Renji to take the Captain Seat for Squad 6. This is the least likely case and it's possible Renji wouldn't even become captain because of his conviction to surpass Byakuya.
3. Byakuya dies and Renji honors him by taking the seat of Captain. This almost happened in the manga, but Kubo kept Byakuya alive thankfully.
He is much like Ikkaku and the squad 1 lieutenant.
All the vice captains who were promoted had no captain
Being a captain is not only about strength and Bankai level and all this stuff.
A captain has a lot of responsabilities and work to do in soul society outside of combat and Renji does not fit in that position.
I suppose Kenpachi division does not have as much paperwork or things to cover and maybe he assigned Yumichika for this work or something like this.

Captain is about strength & they delegate their paperwork to their subordinates. Rangiku is too lazy to work & Toshiro does it, Mayuri has never done paperwork in his life & too focused on science & Hisagi was responsible for every paperwork in his division
