- The father of the 14-year-old suspect in the Apalachee High School shooting is now facing two counts of second-degree murder related to this week's attack in Georgia, which left four people dead. These charges challenge the boundaries of parental responsibility in a child's alleged gun crime.
Colin Gray, 54, is the second parent in U.S. history to be charged in connection with a mass shooting carried out by a minor, according to former federal prosecutor Jeffrey Toobin. Gray faces four counts of involuntary manslaughter, eight counts of cruelty to children, and possibly more charges, marking the most severe charges ever brought against a parent of an accused school shooter. If convicted on all counts, he could face up to 180 years in prison, state Judge Currie Mingledorff announced during a Friday hearing.
