Hey All. Director here. Thanks for watching our film! I'll be back later today to answer some questions, so please feel free to pick my brain. I hope you enjoy!
How on earth did you find actors so well matched and who had the ability to perform so well? This was so well made, so full of tension and perfect timing. Bravo to all!!!
For everyone who wondering what is happening in this short film, every living things are disappearing started from the sky, the people who were in hot air ballon, and get more low to the birds, and then more low to Spencer who his room is on the second floor, and then more low to the fly, and then more low to the crickets that are in the ground. and while both mother and son is below the ground, they are safe. the blood rain? could be all of living things who are disappeared taken by alien to the sky and they were killed, and those are their blood. easier to talking about alien than science lol. any other idea?
This really invoked a feeling of dread, some unknown and unseen force encroaching down on you. It gave me really cosmic horror vibes and I love it. The actors all did really well, too!!
It's raining blood, so the apocalypse I would assume. "Birds will fall from the sky" doesn't have to be taken literally, could just mean they disappear.
"Like a fart?" What an adorable actor! Just loved this one and hope to see more from the director and the actors. The mom's facial expressions were on another level. I want to see more of this story...full length movie now please!
That was amazing! The chemistry between the mother and child was so natural too! The story was so unique and anxiety ridden! I would love to know what was behind the strange events!
She was right there was something in the air. And I think her odd relief of an expression in the end with the red rain is her knowing they survived whatever it was. This is so interesting and scary too! There seemed to be some unseen forces of a sort.
have they survived ???. why is it raining blood?!!. i got the impression something more serious was about to happen. But i guess things have stopped vanishing now.
But its not over...how would red rain cause you relief lol i would just get increasingly pissed/scared that i wasnt understanding &able to forsee whats next
@IdislikeTechnology I didn't say the red rain gave her relief lol but thanks for your response. Yeah I had so many questions after watching this. That was 9 mo ago tho
Its soooo good once u rewatch it after getting an idea of what happened. And the only explanation I have for the blood rain is that everything that "vanished" was actually evaporated like water and then rained back down . Which makes sense because only organic things vanished- because only organic matter can be evaporated. Now WHY did Earth randomly choose to evaporate all organic matter one day and rain it back down is beyond me. I guess it was like a cleansing
That was fantastic! Great script, great cinematography, great acting. The lead nailed it. She basically told her story with physical acting and showed off some amazing chops.
Agreed! It bugs me so much when stories feel the need to over-explain what’s happening, loved how subtle it was but still clear what was going on, even though we don’t learn what caused it. Great short!
I liked this one a lot. Reminds me of Nope, with the balloon monster and blood rain. The vanishing part just added a whole 'nother level of terrifying 😨
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The lead actress was absolutely breathtaking in this. I could feel her sadness and stress, not knowing what to tell her son. I tried to imagine if this really happened, how would I react? I absolutely do not know. Bravo Alter! Another masterpiece.
When she was tossing things at the ceiling to get that bug ... all I could think of was "We are obviously related." She was so good in this, especially when she's near tears as she tries to tell her son that she doesn't know what's happening.

@@nrgbunni. One did that on the neighbor's farm once. Thankfully they managed to chance upon a field with a path into it AND without cattle in it. They let us touch the balloon. They were quite lost but managed to get the people with their truck cued in as to where they were and they got home safe
In the scene where she's looking for Spence I can totally smell the barn at my grandparents house, haven't been there for years ... great video with my coffee!
OK Alter.... Help me out here. Cuz I did not GET this one. What was the significance of the Mason jars, or the gravity, or staying low, &Not to mention the blood-red rain that they both just STOOD IN at the end??! I'd really like to understand, so please.....🤔🥴😬
The Mason Jars were to see when the invisible force was getting close, the mason jars had organic material in them and the material was disappearing layer by layer. It started in the atmosphere hence the air balloon being empty, then the birds disappeared, then the farmhand that was working up the stairs, then the fly that was on the ceiling, anything organic was disappearing by the invisible force working its way down, that’s why the fly swatter fell back down but not the egg when she threw it up into the air in the kitchen. The red rain could be the blood from all the living that were absorbed by the invisible force.
@@ISafrin good point. Maybe they didn’t have the budget to erase the plant matter or it’s a plot hole, or it only affected non plant organic matter. The mason jars could have had some kind of meat/blood as they were reddish in color, I assumed they were beet juice but the boy also ate beef jerky out of one so maybe they also stored meat in them. Im not too familiar with pickling and what gets pickled on farms but I’ve seen weird things like pickled eggs in a reddish/purplish liquid before and pig feet. The theory that it’s only non plant organic matter that is affected may be plausible, I don’t know.
@@helenoftroy6265 My goodness! How can a common person understand this story without all the explanation you gave? The producers have to take this into account.
Also the act from all three was amazing...I know the guy was in it briefly but he made that brief time count. Mama and son had me thinking they were actually mama and son. I got shivers at the end of this. I was trying to understand the egg part and then when she threw the second egg I was like okay. As stated in my previous comment, her instincts were spot on. The visuals in this were stunning. That first aerial shot really just pulled me into the atmosphere of the whole film and the atmosphere, tone and set were also fantastic. Well done!
@@rileygibson242 I just took it that there was aliens or sky people around or something just wasn't right and mom knew and so she threw first egg to see if it would disappear and it cracked but second egg she threw up and it never came down due to anti gravity effect.
@@moniquevandeplas5210 I think there was something can’t even think how to explain it but like a line of death slowly coming down from the sky and that’s why it started with the balloon falling because the person in it was evaporated by this “line” or whatever is it and it was slowly falling that is why when she barely threw the egg it didn’t “evaporate” or whatever is happening to these things and when she threw it high enough it did. That is why she didn’t want son to go up stairs and why they ended up going to the basement and lying down to get as far away from the “line of DEATH!” As they could get. That is my thoughts after thinking about it for a bit.
I think it broke some barriers by pulling us into the character without worrying about black or white. A lot of times movies will overdo it with black characters as if they don't know they're black and they're supposed to learn how to act that way. Very well done.
The original fictional story is from Reddit. “It all starts with the hot air balloon”. In the original story, mother and the boy survived by hiding at the lowest ground and came out to check the whole town. They found out all living things were gone. They had no choice but to hide again in the basement waiting for their fate.
A very enjoyable movie. Nice slow reveal of the phenomena. It reminded me of the opening scenes of the Japanese movie Tag (Riaru Onigokko) where an invisible force (wind) slices off every thing (and body part) above a certain height on a school bus. Probably mostly a limitation of what you can reasonably produce but what would be the selection factor. Not just organic matter as the trees aren't sheared off, not living matter as the eggs were affected, not animal matter as the contents of the jars were affected.
I don’t like wearing shoes either, buddy. In a way, this film reminds me of War of the Worlds-how the humans were captured and their blood sprayed around to fertilize. But this film leaves us wondering what the source of the issue is. It almost seems like a renewal/rejuvenation of the earth or something. Extreme population thinning, with the survivors being those who were smart enough to realize what was happening and seek safety.
That was such a good movie imo! The idea is so creepy and scary, everyone just disappearing at a moments notice the moment you do something so natural and instinctual.. ugh
Fun fact: my town is so in love with hot air balloon’s that there’s a hotline to call if one crashes so you don’t waste the fire departments time. It’s like a whole seperate division of the fire department

Omg, this was TERRIFYING. Veanna, George, and John all did such a fantastic job…but Veanna made me feel every single thing. I felt her creeping terror, and her dawning realization, I cried when she cried. I haven’t had a 5 1/2 year old in almost 30 years, but a mother is always a mother. The instinct to protect, when there is no information on what, or from whom, protection needs to be given. That in itself is terrifying 😳. I just began following Ms. Veanna Black on IMDB btw, and she’s been in so many projects that I’m now going to have to seek out just to see more of her work ☺️ (we’re also both Georgians). The child actor who played her son Henry is named George, and he was just brilliant. No break in character, spunky, and absolutely precious. The cinematography omg, I have to remember to mention…the very first scene, WHOA. Reminded me for just a second of some of the shots in ‘Midsommar’. This one is going in my top 5 of Alter shorts. I appreciate in this type of story that we really get no answers so we are left to speculate. I would LOVE to read the short story this short film is based on. 💖🌸💖
There is a barrier coming down from the sky that appears to eat anything organic. First the guy who was in the hot air balloon disappeared, hence why it crashed. The scarecrow comment by the kid shows that the scarecrow, whihc doesn’t normally work, somehow works now; in reality all the birds have been absorbed. Then the farmer “spence” who lives upstairs doesn’t respond, then the fly stops buzzing on the ceiling. It implies the barrier is coming down. Then she throws an egg, which is organic material, on the ceiling and it disappears too, so her suspicions about a barrier coming down are confirmed. The jars she keeps pointing a light at are filled with what seem like blood? Or meat, or some kind of organic juice so she can have a visual estimate of where the barrier currently is. She tells him to lay down in an effort to delay the barrier their lives for as long as possible. The air whooshing noise u hear is the barrier.
Let’s think this out….hot air balloon with no one on board, suicide, right? Fly buzzing, mom throwing eggs on the ceiling….fall asleep on basement floor…….red rain 🤔 confused doesn’t begin to explain how I feel or what the director/ writers intentions were. Over my head!!!
I don't know why, but this film scared the hell out of me. Like War of the World's without the Mars killing machines. Is that blood falling from the sky at the end?
The weird thing is I've never cared about short films but these past 3 days I've been watching these horror short films Non-Stop coincidence I think not
I loved the movie as well but you did say that youde answer some questions…so: Do you want this possibly become a full feature? I assume the people in the balloon were the first to disappear? Are the mom & son “safe”at the end of the film? Is the blood rain coming from the living things that went “away”? Is it alien in nature or something having to do with our climate? Thanks that’s all my questions lol.😊
I come here from some movie introducing channel, and the channel pointed out that if you look closely, the video's letterboxes are slowly getting bigger, makes video getting narrow. Making it represent the thing that makes disappear all living thing getting lower time to time. After the basement scene the letterbox is gone.
I can tell the person who wrote this was a parent. The sleeping on you, the “I’m hungry” but still throw the cooked food away, the shoes, all the questions, all the movement. I related to that so much, and it really put me in the mom’s shoes and made it that much scarier. What could a mother do in this situation to protect her child? Terrifying, love it.
That was an interesting story, thanks for the video! Hm, this could still end badly. When they return to the house, the mother is horrified to see parts of her body slowly becoming transparent and disappearing. The rain was red because it washed the remains of the gas from the upper air layers. Now it works slowly on her skin. With the last of her strength, she drags the child into the shower to wash off the chemicals. But it's too late.
That was a great one! Hats off to the actors, it felt so real. The end is a bit ambiguous, is it referring to being set free after "sky dwellers" are finally dead? Anyways, it's an amazing piece!
Very wonderful movie. I love... * * (SPOILERS) * * that when she realized that blood was raining down onto her son, she closed her eyes and smiled. She knew the end was near and she wouldn't have anything else fear.
The story it's based on is good but the film didn't capture the it very well. It was so confusing for anyone who don't know the story beforehand! How I know?! Because I had to Google "it all started with a hot balloon" to understand what I just watched!
It's not blood rain. Why wouldn't we continue to see red stains on the kids white shirt after all that rain? Or is it just lazy production where they'd rather just add a red tint on the screen to make it look like its blood, rather than actually using a hose to imitate rain using a red solution for blood.
i loved this.....really built the tension well, very unsettling feeling and original storyline that still leaves a lot of questions.....it reminds me of something, possibly a Stephen King story, but i cannot quite think which one yet.

I don’t get it.
I started to think it was going to be " The Leftovers" theme aka Rapture, but at the end when it rains red [like blood] I start to question that theory leaving me wonder??
The Bible has a few times when blood rains down, so I think when she saw that, she's like, "OK Now I get what's going on"
But I could be wrong.
@@joeyj6808 got that there was a worm hole or something and that got the.
balloon person-(s) and the ex.. but the blood rain I didn't get .. someone will have to dumb it down for me 😂
Omg, this was TERRIFYING.
💖🌸💖
The actor playing the kid is really good! The adults too but it’s rare to get a child actor so talented.
Little boy; "Mom, whats going on?"
Me; "Hell yeah me too"
😂😂
Such realistic, everyday scenes, shown so little and told so much.
It would have been epic if SLAYER started playing in the background when it started raining blood...lol
😂Right 🎸☠🎸🎸☠🎸☠🎸☠
The eggs and jars were lowing and gave a alien vibe
Can someone explain. I am soooo confused. Great acting I just don’t understand.
Basically, somethings disappearing but that’s all I know
I would go to the theater for a full length of this movie, great short
Let’s think this out….hot air balloon with no one on board, suicide, right? Fly buzzing, mom throwing eggs on the ceiling….fall asleep on basement floor…….red rain 🤔 confused doesn’t begin to explain how I feel or what the director/ writers intentions were. Over my head!!!
@@Morbidplushie why it didn't take the trees? Did it take Bacteria?
@@Morbidplushie ftom your post, it seems you know a lot about this movie.....🤣🤣. Are you a 10 year old kid?
I don't know why, but this film scared the hell out of me. Like War of the World's without the Mars killing machines. Is that blood falling from the sky at the end?
"Mom, it's raining blood!"
"Oh thank goodness."
I liked this, neat sort of supernatural cosmic horror in a way
The best shot I've seen in a long while. Frickin awesome. Can't find words.
I really liked this. Creative concept for a low budget short film. I personally would've preferred it to have ended when it fades to black.
Good film but didn’t understand what was happening 🤔🤔🤔
This was really well made😅
The weird thing is I've never cared about short films but these past 3 days I've been watching these horror short films Non-Stop coincidence I think not
Loved the original story, and this is an incredible adaptation. Beautifully shot and acted!
What adaptation?!

My god! This is beautifully filmed!!
Wow! Simply amazing. Beautiful acting, storyline, and scenery. Awesome job to everyone involved in this production.
Omg this was SO good! Like really SOOO good! What an amazing concept and execution. The kid was an amazing lil actor!
Why was she looking at the shelves and panicking? Nothing disappeared. Wasn’t that the point of the preserves? To act as a warning?
Never been early to an Alter video glad I am plus a 15 minute video ✨
That was fascinating!!!! The lady and the boy were absolutely brilliant!. Well done to all!. Subtle things are sometimes way better!! 👌👌👌👌
I loved the movie as well but you did say that youde answer some questions…so:
Do you want this possibly become a full feature? I assume the people in the balloon were the first to disappear? Are the mom & son “safe”at the end of the film? Is the blood rain coming from the living things that went “away”? Is it alien in nature or something having to do with our climate? Thanks that’s all my questions lol.😊
can someone explain me all the story please?
Absolutely loved this!
Wow…so,e excellent acting by both of them. Great job everyone involved!
Amazing one! The atmosphere, the acting, the plot. I would love to see more.
So all that were gone, now rained down and came back in another form. ☺
Beautifully acted.
You’re telling me lady already had a dead fly on her fly swatter that she’d just left from last use
That was off-putting, wasn't it?
So I guess everything got sucked up and is now being returned to the surface in liquid form.
I hardly comment but this was one of the best movies of alter.
Really enjoyed this. Very interesting and terrifying concept. The actors where great. Would love to see this expanded on.
Great acting the kid and his mom were awesome
Certified Gold!!!!!
Very wonderful movie. I love...

that when she realized that blood was raining down onto her son, she closed her eyes and smiled.
This was a crazy short film
i loved this.....really built the tension well, very unsettling feeling and original storyline that still leaves a lot of questions.....it reminds me of something, possibly a Stephen King story, but i cannot quite think which one yet.
still a bit confused on alot but it was really good!

Wow. Super good. Thank you for sharing this with us all. 🖤
I need a tv series with all this❤
Very well done. Can't say I grok what was going on, but it still played well. It wasn't terribly scary, though.
I would never understand this horror short if it wasn’t for Reddit. Wow! Anyways, great movie👍🏾♥️
How do I find it in Reddit?
@@danieldevito6380 google «It all started with a hot balloon» 🎈😃
Good acting, but it’s depressing once again a movie didn’t have an ending with an explanation.
