- Waffles are probably Belgium's best-known street food - served mostly sweet and usually eaten still warm. But did you know that there's actually no such thing as a Belgian waffle, but rather two well-known varieties? The Brussels waffle made of sponge dough and the Liège waffle made of yeast dough. Find out how they're made - and why waffles are the sweetest temptation on the streets of Brussels. For that, we talked to the waffles itself.

Belgium waffles are American waffles. Ask for a Belgian waffle in Belgium and they won't know what're referring to. You call them Brussels waffle or Liege waffle. In fact, there are more kinds to be had.
