Inside! My ballet school tells us (all the dancers that are en pointe) that sewing the ribbons on the outside just looks weird, will get in the way of 5th and 1st position. Also, in my personal preference, I think it gives better support when the ribbon is sewed on the inside. Wow… I guess my mind thinks I’m writing an essay for Language Arts 😜!
Giving heavy critiques and telling is the love language of ballet teachers. I have a personal experience with this because one of my old teachers who taught both flat and pointe classes for me ignored me. Literally wouldn’t give me critiques to improve, avoided me if I tried to ask a question, and literally always forgot to give me a spot during routines. It got so bad that I had to go to a new studio because she taught all of the upper level flat ballet classes and I couldn’t improve to the other teachers in the upper level pointe because she wouldn’t help me. Now at my new studio my teacher critiques me constantly, and I feel happy that she’ll acknowledge my presence, talk to me, and help me improve
Despite being the youngest enpointe, the first to master the lessons(despite no instructions), I was ignored, and bullying me was encouraged. When omoni eventually found out, she took me out of the class, but not before it ruined my desire to dance(because she watched me slowly change). To this day, she refuses to tailor for that school(because that "instructor" still owns it and still encourages singling out the Asian, Hispanic, and Black dancers until they leave), no matter how much money they offered. I'm glad you were able to find a school that values you.
Lori is amazing at teaching us non-dancers about ballet and what the profession is like. I love her channel. I also love your channel and appreciate the way you teach us all about point shoes. Both your channels are great.
In my sport you have to smile, constantly. It’s really hard sometimes when you’re doing something hard and/or painful but i am so so grateful and overjoyed to be able to do my sport that sometimes I literally remember this is my life now and just smile 😊
Hint for a teething Baby Dio: Get Eggo Frozen Waffles, or any other frozen waffle that is round. You cut them into their quarters and let Baby Dio chew on them. The cold numbs the pain, helping Dio chew through and allowing the tooth to emerge, and the shape of the waffle act as built in dribble cups. It works a treat, Dio gets a bit of a treat and doesn't suffer too much pain.
Josephine! over the years of watching you, youve really instilled a love of ballet into me. I dont know if Ill every be able to go to adult classes, but youve definitely inspired me. im working on a ballet/horror themed graphic novel rn! ty for the inspo, i love you and the pointe shop!
Oh ❤❤❤ your Baby - He is so beautiful so gorgeous little baby and it seems like you just had him and now look at the wonderful little guy. So cute and like his mum too. You must be so proud to have such gorgeous little one. ❤
The guy making fun of the hoola hoop guy is Kevin Lawson and he is Hilarious!! Everyone should check him out. He is just wholesome comedy, especially his 'Jesus fix it' videos!
Talking about the inside of the box with the question of if there is a toe shaped thing niece inside I’ve always thought of my who getting some sort of support that goes along the toes line to help with the big toe not to take all the body weight. I’m a beginner ballet dancer and not in point yet (probably will never), so i don’t know what pointe shoes feel like. Why is this not done?
Hey, I love your vidoes! They never fail to make me laugh and I love the insight you give to ballet! I have a question that may be strange, but I hope it makes sense either way. What are your thoughts on people who want to wear and use pointe shoes, but are not trained in any way? For example, do you ever get people who come in for pointe shoe fittings, but have never taken a ballet lesson and still want to dance in pointe shoes at home? I ask because I used to wear and dance in pointe shoes at home that I would buy from genuine dance stores, but I never took a ballet lesson, so I knew that I had to be careful. I don't wear them anymore because I like not having broken ankles, but I'm curious if this is actually common, or if I was just a special case haha.
YAY TIKTOK 56!! I love those boottsss! The "We're Dancers" is so accurate lol My face the second I saw "trying my 25 dollar pointe shoes off tiktok shop": O_O NO NO PLEASE NO lol. You could see her sink in the shoes 😬 LLLOOOVVEEE YOUR VIDEOS CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXTT!!!
Hi I just had class yesterday (only on flat) and when I woke up today the part of your foot were a bunion is hurts a lot. This happen a few weeks ago after my shows but not as intense I'm wondering if anyone knows what this is or has tips. I have pointe class today so I'm going to ice it and take tyleonal before hand. I don't know much about all this cause I'm still a student. I'm going to tell my PT about it on Monday though. Tips?
Why are solo dances called Variations??? I thought that meant slightly different choreography to the same dance, but I finally looked it up and it just means a solo dance in ballet? why???? I'm so confused!
I think, as an artist, heavy critique from any teacher (constructive, of course, not bullying) is a love language among all forms of art, dance, music, or visual art
A team of people actually wove a beautiful golden yellow cape out of the silk these spiders produce. It took four years and 1.2 MILLION spiders to complete it.
Dancing on your knuckles - like where does that come from?? I dont do ballet but I always knew dancers were on tiptoes. Like, even without pointe shoes, dancers don’t dance on their knuckles, so why so MANY are confused and think of that???
Why do modern ballet dancers feet seem huge compared to 50 plus years ago, are dancers just generally bigger in height, or is it a difference in shoe, just wondering?
Those tiktok pointe shoes remind me of dead shoes but without all the scuffs and dirt marks you'd normally see on dead shoes, just in the way her knuckles are poking out over the box and the shank is so soft that it looks pretty much useless.
Just because people tag you in the videos doesn't mean you need to include them in your reaction reels. I will continue to offer to make a donation to your favorite charity if you promise to stop including videos of horrific and physiologically inadvisable stretching regimens.
Can you react to a compilation of Vera Ellen’s best work. I always think of you when I see the clip of her in tap shoes on her toe box like she’s en pointe!
Felt targeted when she brought up barbie ballet (I love ballet and wanna do it but I don’t have enough motivation to stretch to prepare to join and I trans and know id feel weird only being girl roles or only being boy roles)
Thank you everyone for tuning in!
We are actually curious: do you tie your pointe shoe ribbons on the inside or outside? 👀
inside!

Oh, Josephine, please keep your cute assistant in all your posts as often as possible . He is perfect in the role.
Lori is amazing at teaching us non-dancers about ballet and what the profession is like. I love her channel. I also love your channel and appreciate the way you teach us all about point shoes. Both your channels are great.
I'm so glad you have baby Dio in the videos. He's so chill and it's great to see his reaction as he just gnaws on whatever he can get ahold of.
I saw the girl trying on the tiktok shop pointe shoes a couple days ago and I knew. I just knew Josephine was gonna be on it. I felt it in my bones.
Wait till she finds temu pointe shoes.. 😭
(I get recommended them so often.)
I love that Lori was in this video! She's absolutely stunning and I love her videos and how they educate many non-dances too.
Why do happy babies always make me smile? Happy adults don't. But a baby? Omg right in the heart❤
For me it’s because babies show their emotions entirely and purely but adults can hide or change their emotions
In my sport you have to smile, constantly. It’s really hard sometimes when you’re doing something hard and/or painful but i am so so grateful and overjoyed to be able to do my sport that sometimes I literally remember this is my life now and just smile 😊
Hi! I am a circus student and that wheel is called a cyr wheel. It is made of metal and then wrapped so it is pretty heavy!
The giant metal hula hoop is called a cyr wheel and they are amazing.
Josephine! over the years of watching you, youve really instilled a love of ballet into me. I dont know if Ill every be able to go to adult classes, but youve definitely inspired me. im working on a ballet/horror themed graphic novel rn! ty for the inspo, i love you and the pointe shop!

Cyr wheels can range in weight, but they're usually between 7-15kgs (15-33lbs)
The baby thoo😂😂❤❤❤
He is precious! Reminds me of my grandbaby, he likes to hear his own voice. Even though we can't understand it yet. We love to hear it too.
My lord, he is so cute!! Those cheekies 🥰🧡🩷🥰
The hoop guy: It is called a Cyr-Wheel! There are competitions all over the world!

Mine are 28 and 30. 🥺 But I do so enjoy them as adults.
I’d like for you to react to the Actable Point Shoes or 3D printed point shoe. Just curious because people are starting to call it the new thing
i've never been so early, but i was watching old ones last night so i guess it's appropriate 😂
Can you do one where you react to 3D printed pointe shoes?
Omg he’s adorable ❤
Lori! Love her channel.

Why are solo dances called Variations??? I thought that meant slightly different choreography to the same dance, but I finally looked it up and it just means a solo dance in ballet? why???? I'm so confused!
