Absolutely felt this one, resonated with him and his values. Empathy, honesty and persistence was my biggest takeaways about how Toto was able to build a successful team.
Toto is one of my biggest inspirations. Good, level head on his shoulders, no bs, fantastic people person, intelligent in all the senses of the word. Honest and kind. He's one in 7 billion! ;) I wish him the best in all his adventures through life.
Interesting to see the similarities between toto and Christian. Both amazing to listen to and such insight in to how to be the best at what they do - 2 massively different approaches to performance yet gaining unbelievable continued success off the back of it. Hats off chaps... more of the same please!
Two alphas competing at the highest level, both organizations are operating at the maximum. Drivers, team, cars, everything is so advanced that it's tiny insignificant differences that make such a huge difference. That's why it takes people like these to win in F1.
Phenomenal man. I only saw the Formula One show on Netflix which is why I tuned into this, had no idea who he was otherwise. Absolute quality and great questions from you lads.
How on Earth can this man cheer me up even during a "dark night of the soul" period? It's unbelievable... Listening to him is my fav spiritual practise. 😅 Namaste Toto! 🤍🙏✨️
Such a personality Toto is! I admire his self-awareness and I can see that he always playing on his strengths at the same time accepting that everyone is human/vulnerable. The most important thing I understood is that his value to relationships and his willingness to be there for people is his real investment & it's returning great. Good podcast as always, thank you.
The vast intelligence of Toto and the team he surrounds himself with in sustaining this level of success for the last 7 years is something that is severely underrated. We’ve seen teams in yesteryears dominate for 4-5 years (Ferrari and Red Bull) and then lose some performance. To continue winning and succeeding for 7 years in a row for both the constructor’s and driver’s championships is something we may not see for a very long time.
Love his approach to recruitment, achieving diversity of thought takes huge effort. Overcoming fixed mindsets cultivated over the years of 'always done that way'. Such inspiration in words and actions.
totally amazing interview with someone who I never thought I would enjoy. Total different respect for this man!! Love the real leadership attitude! I will never have a dirty coffee cup again in public!!
This was lovely. “How important is legacy to you?” I let out an audible “Yesssss!” along with a fist pump. Legacy is for the living, you can’t take it with you!
Love it. Fantastic insights, particularly around authenticity and the need to bring diverse, not mirror images of your self in to the team in order to succeed. Dismissing the CV that was not prestigious enough and the failings that culture brings with it. What a leader! Well done lads.
This, and the Christian Horner one, are very interesting in that actually the way they both work - getting the right people, empowering them, no blame culture etc - are very similar even though they appear to be very different types of people. Horner appears to be 'glass helf full', Wolff 'glass half empty'. Would be very interesting to hear follow ups following the events of 2021.
Absolutely love this series of interviews. Its fascinating to understand how highly successful people think, and when you hear someone like Toto its not only educational, but also inspiring to know such a nice guy can also be so successful.
High performance is Ham and eggs. With a little bacon and two pumpernickels, really toasted so that they break. Yesterday it was not enough. It has to be like a cookie. Butter, tomato, salt. Espresso with lactose-free milk.
Great channel, guys. I have watched your engaging, probing and incisive interviews with James and Toto. I must confess - apologies Prof Damian - that the juxtaposition of F1 and Liverpudlians/ Mancunians reminds of a conversation I had with a friend in F1 in the late 90's as to why so many of the pit crew had London accents. He said "If I had scousers taking the wheels off, they'd surely come off fast. The problem is, they'd run away with them and leave the car on bricks." Forgive me! 🤣 Great interviews, guys, thanks.
Interesting management philosophy. I have worked for 6 major american corporations who all believed in keeping employees competing against each other but their message was one of "there is no I in TEAM!" Very toxic environment!
excellent podcast with great questions and answers from all 3 of you. why did your ever turn your back on f1 jake? remember going toe to toe into the corner and one going all horticultural?
13:26 thats just wrong. Musk gives them credit all the time. such as Andrej Karphaty, Jeff Dahn, Franz von Holzhausen etc. just check the presentation such as the autonomy day and the battery day and you will get to know lots of specialists in their field that make Tesla fly.
I think Toto was paying a complement to Elon Musk - ie that he is a Genius/inventor - whereas Toto sees himself as more of a manager of people than a creator

Brilliant wasn’t he

I would love an update interview from him now after 21-23 rebuilding the momentum after failure.
Toto is a perfect example of a handsome, dedicated and (fun when needed) boss. The boss suits him
Toto is a really awesome guy, a hour well spent. Thanks guys

I’m a Quality Engineer and could not agree more with Toto’s mindset. Blame a process or lack there of not the individual.

Toto to Valteri: “You can do this” OMG I loooooove him!!!
Really appreciate these being released on RUclips as they help me to focus and listen rather than become distracted. Particularly enjoyed this one!

The legacy question is deep. And the promptness with which Toto answered is revealing.
Love his approach to recruitment, achieving diversity of thought takes huge effort. Overcoming fixed mindsets cultivated over the years of 'always done that way'. Such inspiration in words and actions.
Interesting that his 3 most important things in a person were essentially the same thing (never lie, don't BS, be authentic)
Great chat with Toto! He's such an impressive guy and a great leader. I love his POV on life and being a leader.
One of the best we’ve had!
"then you would have never employed someone like me" incredible.
Could listen to toto all day, such an inspirational speaker.

Thank you Toto. It felt like you were self censoring a little but I understand why. Thank you and congrats on your achievements. You are awesome.
Can't believe I'm watching this for free!
This was lovely. “How important is legacy to you?” I let out an audible “Yesssss!” along with a fist pump. Legacy is for the living, you can’t take it with you!

Legendary Man!!! Wise wise wise words. 🙌🙌
This is GREAT. I would love to meet you guys someday soon. How awesome to connect at this level with Toto.
Toto is a seriously impressive guy.

Toto is a brilliant mind

Very expiring, Toto. I think I watched everything with him on RUclips. Hope for a better 2023.
When he said the was zero Importance to legacy I was delighted. Great pod as usual.
A superb podcast. Really insightful. Superb point in reference to characters.
What a human man, big inspiration
Absolutely love this series of interviews. Its fascinating to understand how highly successful people think, and when you hear someone like Toto its not only educational, but also inspiring to know such a nice guy can also be so successful.
