The logic doesn’t make sense. If you think cousins is still good, which you do because you gave him $100m guaranteed, then why draft an nfl ready QB. If you like penix and think he’s amazing, then why give cousins the money? This is the patriots where a QB has no talent. Atlanta has talent, penix would have started right away and been good. Penix needed to go to team that was ready to play him now. The only possible thing Atlanta is thinking is that Penix's shelf life is so short that they must see him not lasting longer than like 5 years or so and so if they sit him for 4 years they will still get those 5 years in just down the road. It still makes zero sense as they have needs that could have been filled giving them a much better chance at winning and 4 years down the road could have easily been dealt with at a later time. 5 years at QB and not even guaranteed is not an 8th overall pick and even if their intention ll along was getting Penix they could have traded down a bit, got some much needed assets, and still gotten him.

Atlanta drafting Penix means they have concerns about Kirk. You don't draft a QB 8th overall after signing another to a massive guaranteed contract if you don't think it's going to work out or Kirk's not going to be able to stay healthy. And that's all fair questions, I think most people had that same concern with Kirk given his age, but then that just leads to why the hell Atlanta signed him if they were just going to turn around a draft a QB anyways. And even if you were going to take a QB, maybe you should've drafted the guy who just turned 21 over the guy who turns 24 in a week. Like realistically, Penix might not even see the field until he's 26-27 at best, and what good is having a "rookie" QB who's 3-4 years away from being 30?

The pundits think they know more than the teams. None of you know how to sustain the QB position long term. You have no basis of reference to criticize this move.
