I moved to Quincy after it happened, and even tho it had been a couple of years, people were talking about it like it had just happened. It really spooked/upset those small communities. The husband was mad that Sue was giving her the confidence to leave him, so she murdered them. This case not only should have been solved but if the local sheriff had taken the threats against Sue this could have been prevented.
Worst of all is that there is only one reason these 2 would abduct the 12 year old Tina. But most people that cover it don't seem to think it's weird that they took Tina with them.

Most people don’t understand that most local law enforcement are both indifferent to non-action situations and most also have no more investigative skills than the average person. This goes triply so for a cop in 1981. Beyond that, most small town cops back in the 70s and 80s were jock types, not geared for analytical thinking. As for Tina, for all we know, she could still be chained up in a basement somewhere.

I had never heard of these murders before. Sue being gagged with her own underwear and left half dressed seems like an act of vengeance against her and meant to humiliate her. Like many serial killers leave their victims "displayed" in the open to be found. Seems personal to me and those 3 neighbours including Marilyn had to have been involved. My Theory is the neighbours went over to exact revenge on Sue for having an affair with Martin. They had called over earlier that night and John and his friend were not there. The boys came back and tried to defend Sue. Things turned violent. Tina woke up to the noise and they left with her, can only imagine she went through he'll before eventually being killed by Bo. As for Martin's son who was staying over he possibly witnessed some of this and re invented his memories of it or was threatened into silence.

the guy (martin i think was his name) who claimed to be missing a hammer is clearly involved. imagine if cops came to your house and asked you about a murder that occurred across the street, and your response is something like "weird, im missing my hammer out of my tool box." For one thing i doubt most people check their tool box the sunday morning to make sure no hammers, nails or wrenches snuck out the night before. As for the other guy Bo, the chicago mob wouldnt give a shit about him if he were in california. And if they did, theyd have just killed him. Unless he or his family were so high up that they protected him, which doesnt seem likely. Idk if the cops were corrupt though. they just had no experience in cases like this. I do think 1 officer most likely tried to help martin and leaked what the cops knew / suspected to him though. So i guess that would be considered corruption. But i dont think the entire bureau was screwing up on purpose. this was 1981 in a small town.

I found out about this years ago and it’s always fascinated me for some reason. I like to see any videos I find about it to hear if there’s anything new and I’m so glad you covered this. I’ve never heard anything about Sheila! Even her being pregnant! Not even in the documentary with the new police. I too don’t believe it. One of the new officers on the case got very emotional about it all in his interview and broke down because he was friends with Sue and knew her kids too and felt so bad about the way the police handled it years ago. He felt it should have been solved and is disgusted over the things he’s found out about them that could have led to coverups and such things being “overlooked”....such a sad case. Sheila and her family never got to see any justice and most likely never will because the 2 main suspects are dead. However I also had not heard of dna on the tape coming back to a living person. Thanks for covering this finally, I learned so,e new info. “And remember.....” 😊

If the DNA didn't produce an arrest, the suspect might not be in any database. I feel like the only way that could make sense is if Martin and Bo had a third accomplice or if neither were involved and it was two others. I feel like even though Martin specifically was shady, and definitely should be considered a suspect, all of the evidence is circumstantial and there is no way he would be convicted at trial. At this point, the only way this case will go anywhere would be through new witness testimony or a DNA breakthrough. Sad stuff, but an interesting watch for such a dark and complex case.

My take. Martin & Bo & Marylin were guilty. But the one's that did the actually killings were Bo & the clean shaven blond, he was a friend of Bo's that had worked for him in the mob. The executions were mob style killings. The blond guy most likely took the young girl as part of his payment, as awful as that sounds. The phone call in 1984 was most likely from Martin or someone he had confided in. Because mob killers would never ever call & say that. Marilyn knew what was going on.
Cops were heavy in the mobs back in the 70's & 80's. Sounds like the killers are all dead. The blond guy was never positively ID'ed. I've been around awhile. I've had my share of run ins with the likes of people like these.
I'm most fortunate to have lived a long life. Could have been snuffed out fairly easily when I look back through the years. I'm very thankful now. Poor young people. Damn shame.

I think that it's pretty obvious that Martin was involved.
    That fact alone implicates Bo.
It would be interesting to know exactly where and how Bo lived out the rest of his life.
There's not much information about Bo after the murders.
Considering his illegal activities prior to the murders, is it possible that he ended up in the witness protection program in exchange for his information on mob activities? Or, was he already an informant when the murders occurred and certain law enforcement officials protected him regarding the murders so that he could continue his work for them in going after certain mob groups?
I don't know, but I do feel like his life prior to the murders and up until his death should be more thoroughly examined.
I feel so badly for all of the victims, but especially so for Tina.
There's no telling what horrific things she endured from the time that she was abducted until they ultimately ended her life.
It's so difficult to believe that our fellow human beings are even capable of such evil actions.

Which were 1) marty never conffessed 2) Marilyn called and confessed for marty 3) Marty called and confessed from Oregon, although you could combine 1 and 2. 4) Marty sent a post card from Klamath falls confessing. Allegedly, Marty told the therapist Tina was killed with a hammer, which tells me he had no idea how Tina died. There was alot of damage done to the other victims skulls, so maybe one would think it safe to assume there was damage to Tina's as well. Except there wasn't, as it was discovered much later. The elements and time left little to go on as to how Tina died, but of what little was recovered, we can safely assume it wasn't a hammer blow to the head.

Was he prepared to kill his own son if he saw too much as well? And why is a 13 year old getting pregnant and a 15 year old boy being described as having vendettas against people... jeez dysfunction much?

...Myself and a friend were up that way around almost 20 years ago...Although we had heard about the murders via the news back when the younger daughter's remains were found in '84, and the _Unsolved Mysteries_ program that aired sometime back in the mid to late 90s, we never stopped in Keddie... We just went through on 70 towards Paxton (Which also had a small population, and in some areas, things looked just as run down.) to purchase and trailer back East a rare vintage car for the drag strip my friend had been interested in... This all had to be around the time that Cabin 28 was torn down, I would think... Even up in Paxton, none of the places there really looked like they have ever commanded a "4 Star Rating", and everything just gave me the creeps, as if we drove into a sort of remote "Ghost Country"... We were both happy to have completed the transaction and the car safely secured on the trailer afterwards... Neither of us felt comfortable (We always felt we were strangers being "watched" by something unknown) until we were back on I - 80 in Reno, headed East, towards Chicago... I'll never go back up in that area again -
And I couldn't imagine a divorced woman with children wanting to start a different life _ANYWHERE_ in that spooky, crazy area, even four decades ago as Glenna Sue Sharp did - RIP to the deceased!

After Martin & Bo came home from the bar & went to the cabin, drunk & attempted to sexually assault Sue. John, & Dana walked in & they killed them. Tina witnessed the crime, maybe she said something, they took her, defiled her & killed her. The keystone cops, who were friends with Martin, were either stupid on purpose or didn't give a shit. Supposedly Marilyn had spoken to Sue about regularly getting beat by Martin & Sue stuck up for her, which infuriated martin. Bo, had moved in with Martin & Marilyn about a month before the murders. Bo might have been tied to the mob, not sure about Martin. I can't imagine Chicago bosses wanting to be associated with this in any way, shape or form. There are other theories, some say Shelia was involved. I still think the guys did it.

Having only had a cursory view of the facts, I think the aspect no-one talks more about is why Tina was taken away from the scene. That may factor into the motive and possibly into who done it. Why wasn't she slain and left with the others? It doesn't seem to make any sense. Could it be Tina saw what was happening and ran, but was pursued and killed before she could tell anyone? The family being killed the way they were leads me to think it was much more than just an angry retaliation - someone wanted to hurt them horribly rather than just kill them efficiently. It was a risk to do it with the kids sleeping in the other room, too. Either the perpetrator did it not knowing the kids were in there (they got lucky by being heavy sleepers) or they were deliberately left unharmed as they wouldn't have known anything that could lead to pointing suspicion on anyone.
The phone call saying the remains were Tina's may well be a hoax, someone following the case who just happened to put two and two together.
I also don't put any emphasis on the hypnosis call back either - hypnosis is useful but not infallible. The boy could have been saying something that he believed deep down rather than something he actually saw. The description of the two men with mirrored shades seems more like a description of generic baddies from popular films back in the 80s. It may have even been a film the kids had seen that night he was thinking of in his subconscious.
As for the police departments continual screw ups - I think that is more to do with incompetence and not having experience in murder cases rather than deliberate conspiracy to protect a suspect.

Quincy is my hometown and I grew up in Twain so would pass by Keddie everyday to get to school. This case still haunts me and I hate that it remains unsolved but the future remains hopeful.
Also, I got stuck in the phone booth thats down in Keddie and that was not a fun experience.

Sue could not have given her granddaughter up for adoption if the father of the child or his family wanted to raise the child. Blood relatives can claim custody before a child is given up into the adoption or foster system.

Perhaps she used the excuse of "unknown" father?
Reading on Keddie28 site.... wow... totally dysfunctional family. Sue wanted to do the right thing and tried, but... she had almost no money and very few options to get money. rightly or not, Sheila had seemingly decided she was better off moving out and finding a new home with Richard Meeks. Hmm... also looking at it on that site... apparently it is true that Sheila wasn't 100% sure who the father of her child was... and Dana(yes the dead guy) was actually one possibility?
Hunh... also... Justin was MARTY's son? and he was the "witness" who created that sketch... oh boy... THAT's something Lazy left out.... O-o' Yeah this case is a giant entangled mess
