come on Canada man ;D ,,
everyone knows i scooped this from Sharay Reed
the only chance i had to score any construction points with it tho, was to show "The Chaps" the 1976 intro hearing
      seems it worked, eventually

as james bond would reply, sour mash & branch water, as opposed to good old Kentucky sipping cream

      totally unexpected, wow omg wow
& no, i am not going to do a will smith ;D
      Joy to the world,
Sharay Reed , is the reason why i sat in on this joint .
wanted the younger cats to listen closer to "the intro" superbad superfly harmony Db B E Db .
its the international calling card of the John Shaft aka Richard Roundtree crew lol not samuel l jackson ,, (no beef, friendly stint)

omg , sounds real close, albeit, bear minimum, his "intro" is using the "exact" same notes,
no one else "anywhere" employed these notes in the intro, except wilton felder & myself
i hope the guy gets a decent score
i very much doubt i will be running out to try to cash in on the guy tho
even if it is my sample , the most i would ask for is a few smokes
some new strings & a wheel for my bike,
      Thank You Kendrick Lamar

    • @bean9seventy
      @bean9seventy  2 года назад +1

@@benjapizarro981 true, as the dust settles 99% its a sample taken from the "source song" with wilton felder on bass
you can hear the uneven double stop chord,
he plays a high Db, i play a lower Db
yet, both wilton & myself btw are the "only" guys employing the Db minor scale on the intro
means i am "perhaps" the "only" guy on YT who played the intro this way,
      question is,
      could it be sheer coincidence
      an oversight in production,
or something else ? if so, omg :D

No, this is certainly NOT James Jamerson's bass line... it's BETTER. As a bassist from Detroit, I love Jamerson and all the incredible work he did for MoTown. However, the bass line he did for this song was not quite as smoothly exciting and calmly funky as this one. In other words, when Jamerson did it, our focus has always been on Marvin's voice and lyrics, but when you did it, our focus was 100% on YOU. This is pure bass excellence

    • @bean9seventy
      @bean9seventy  2 года назад

Sharay Reed , only difference i de-tuned so i could jam "the intro"
that made the basic turn-around fall on more open strings
      than concert tuning
now a bone of contention as it matches Kendrick Lamar's latest joint
the jury is still out on if he sampled my jam
bear minimum "only" 2 bassists employed these "intro notes"
      wilton felder & myself

James was on the what's going on album..and bob Babbit...but the classic! WHAT'S GOING ON!! ALL JAMERSON! his bass lines very melodic and funky like no other! played on more hit records than any bass player ! PERIOD!

there has been times over the years on youtube where guys informed me who the bassist of any given song was ,
Eddie Watkins Jnr was the 1st,
great guy he joined in the chat too
think the theme here is Sharay Reed who dedicated his upload to jamerson
however, i was informed some time ago its actually wilton felder on this song
we know felder as a saxophonist,
the period between 1968 & 1972 is straught with difficulty pain & change yet,
John Shaft became an international shining light,
even tho i 100% like Samuel L Jackson, his take on the movie was weak
      thus the meme ,,
John Shaft was just about as big as James Bond
& the "intro" to this song was his calling card
