These musicians should be more recognized as much as the singers themselves.

    • @TooSkinnyKenny
      @TooSkinnyKenny 4 месяца назад

the reason they weren't is because in the disco era the producers pretty much called the shots and they wanted to emphasize the songs instead of the musicians or the singers. I own lots of disco albums that don't lust the musicians by name.

@@TooSkinnyKenny It’s a historic issue in the entertainment world. Musicians are very rarely if ever mentioned. They put in such hard work.

Got 3 words for you, my man...IN THE POCKET! Hands down the best bass cover to an all time great song! As a musician myself, you can tell when someone in the groove...not overpowering but also adding your own spin on it without distraction or disruption. SALUTE!

probably heard it 1st on the radio here , think it was played in a few "football pub discos" too ,,,
i quit going to funk/ disco clubs in 1980,
1980 -1981 was a big transition moment in UK & also USA, to a degree
younger guys listened to a new thing we call Trouble Funk, others even younger went for Rap

This song takes me back to my Mama days when she would get dressed up and go out with her friends. She would let me and my sister clean her gold bracelets with this stuff called BRASSO. I would love to see her get pretty as the music played in the background and of course that was one of them, the lady's that sang the song "NIGHT'S OVER EGYPT", OMG a lot of Al Jarreau..., mainly that type of music. Oh and sometimes she would be playing Steely Dan (yes a very strong black woman but she loved loved music) The Doobie Bros, and her all time two favorites..., Maze ft. Frankie Beverly and I heard this group a lot a lot a lot THE WHISPERS. I miss my Mom so much. She passed May 2017. I get the music gene from her, me and my sister, but I have it the most. LOL. I even passed it on to my 28 year old. She loves music as well. ♥♥♥ Just wanted to let you know that, that one instrument , OMG, THE BASS, makes a song stand so much.

yeah, i used to get into whistle flute (recorder) in early school , i still have won ,
the real disco times was in the 1970s
there were some seriously epic stuff in the 1980s tho,
i try not to think too much about folks passing
yet , its un-avoidable , & you can spend hours & days mourning ,thinking, sometimes without realizing
The Bass is The Final Messenger in this current
      era of music ,, thanks

Damn man, who are you? Why are you not known more? I watched this video at least 100 times. Your technique is different but it seems perfected. I want to know more about who you are and if you are still playing. Please reply

From what I understand, the real bassist on this tune was some bad ass studio cat who's name escapes me. Bernard Edwards was a tight, on time, in the pocket. I don't remember Bernard Edwards as being a "thumbing" bassist. Which is fine by me, I prefer those deep, support type bass dudes.
Anyway, this is one of the baddest bass lines ever ! Along with Motor Booty Affair, Give The people What They Want, Touch of Love, Special Secret Song.

+Nasher188 nothing better than a big beat bass line forcing the notes right down then back up under then over ;D
Bearnard is the Disco Master , the power is the knowledge of jazz ,he used to "Lick " the bass to the beat same way Jamaicans click their fingers ,never plays the same thing twice every bar had a change , sometimes going to extraordinarily lengths to land another ghost pattern , on rhythm guitar he is even more amazing , just ask Nile , thanks ,
