The video for the leg transformation switches abruptly from the right leg to the left leg right after the wing foldout part. Was wondering why I couldn't follow the steps...
Takara Tomy keep dropping the ball with their MP releases, while 3P and KO companies seem to be only getting better and better. This Starscream is a prime example of that trend, IMO.
@@Benscollectables This really does looks that good! Didn't mind the complex transformation... in fact, really digging the fresh new take on how the arms gets tucked in and hidden in the legs. Reminds me of Macross. 😁
I cant wait for mineee! Looks so much better than mp-52. But not gonna lie. The mp-52 looks good too. Just not worth the price. But this one..so hyped.
There's no way this is easier to transform than Takara's MP-52, but this is still an EXCELLENT looking robot mode. The plane mode is acceptable, but the way the entire section from nosecone to rear of the cockpit glass is shaped strangely for a F15. Takara's plane mode isn't perfect either, but it's superior to this one. I think overall Takara's is better, because it's excellent in both modes and not too bad to transform, but DS has better hands, and a much, much better price, and is still "good enough" as a plane.
I'm more drawn to Crimson Wings on so many levels, but the transformation process isn't one of them! LOL, if you handled Transform Element figures, you sure as hell better be ready for a complex reconfiguration from bot to alt more. But that's ok, I do admire the engineering complexity these companies do with these figures, but sometimes, lol, it's a nice breath of fresh air to work with something simplistic :) ( Shoutout to MMC ;) )
Not having the MP52 in hand I am only going by videos I watch , that being said I find this easy so maybe these just look more complicated on video than they are (MP52 included)
@@Benscollectables s'all good, Ben, I encourage you to eventually get your hands on the MP-52 mold, whether it be an official release, or a KO...it's definitely an amazing design, I just wish it wasn't so pricey.

this one looks overall better than the takara one, tho the takara scale is probably a little closer to animation. But the takara transformation is definitely easier and simplier than this tho.

Looking forward for mine to show up. My concern is that the videos I’ve seen of this figure so far they all result in scratching the sides of the body during transformation. I was hoping you would have addressed that. Great review otherwise as always.
what kind of insignia have you applied? Water decals or stickers? They seem to be in the perfect position and I'll use this video for reference when I'll have to apply mine
@@Benscollectables sounds great, I have the YesModel, too, and they look great on it :) Water decals DO look better but I seem to remember that my sheets don't have the insignia of the right size (they're all smaller), so that's why I used the stickers supplied on my YesModel. I hope I haven't used the whole stickers sheet!
I dont think ive seen anyone do that engineering move of having the arms go to the back and inside the thrusters on a jet TF before, that's clever...and hard to get there as well lol, but clever none the less. It solves so much of the obvious "bot under the jet" cliche transformation.
Ah Ben! You make a guy want to sell his Howling Meteor for this! 🤣 That is a very clean and super articulated bot mode. Plus the colour being that off white to a dull grey looks much better than MP-52. Is there tabbing issues with alt mode? I found that with MakeToys Seekers.
Only part I messed up with the cockpit section but that’s me not knowing how to transform it I think … all tabs seem to work although the paint rub on the ab crunch does bother me
Man... This looks really good, despite me liking simpler and more fun transformations... I'm going to need to convince the wife to let me get this one... Or maybe just apologise when it appears on our doorstep "by accident" XD
This figure's transformation was NOT fun. It was pretty challenging and I almost gave up at one point. Don't get me wrong, its a beautiful figure, but if you like simpler and more fun transformations, just letting you know this one will not be. The difficulty is comparable to some of the more complex transformations from Fans Toys. Half the challenge is ensuring you don't scratch any pieces and have paint rub occur, and the other half is lining things up perfectly to be straight and flush.
In no universe is that less complicated of a transformation than MP-52. I had MP-52 memorized after like 2 or 3 times back and forth, but this guys got those little tiny floppy panels, and odd specific angles that pieces need to go for clearance, and those puzzle-piece shaped collar bone plates, and all of the things you have to line up to fit the arms INSIDE the legs, that's just not less complicated than what mp-52 does.
@@GibDozer1 how on earth is it better in plane mode? seriously? it has hinges on the rear wings, lots of un-aerodynamic flat box-y areas on the bottom, the whole nosecone + cockpit area looks "weird", the canopy doesn't sit flush (might be fixable), it has visible paint rubs from transformation, it has visible red hinges on the top, no stand, no radar, and really obvious screw heads literally sticking out and above the surface of the plastic. Come on, it's a great looking figure, but acting like it's superior to MP-52 in every way is just absurd.
@@matthewmccarron8915 The only angle Takaras jet mode hits is top down. Like pretty frosting on a cake. From any other angle that Jet mode looks terrible. I'll admit propped on the flight stand angled down it's a slick looking F15, but that illusion doesn't hold up. This one pulls off a general Jet with no obnoxious kibble hanging a inch and a half off the bottom. All the picks I've seen show it not sitting level on it's wheels in alt mode, like a jacked up hotrod? Maybe that's a mistransformation idk, but it doesn't look good. I will agree that the DS is far more elegant in robot mode though.
This 100% has a more complicated transformation than MP-52. of course that means you get more out of it (see the benefits everyone is quoting) but it definitely has more going on than the MP.
I own TE-01. How much more or less complex do you think this transformation is compared to the previous Transform Element/Black Mamba releases? Because either I'm getting MP-52 or this.
Oh for sure it's a lot harder than MP-52. I'm just deciding if the loose ankles plus the reported breakages is worth it (plus the extra accessories that double up the price) compared to the only real downside being one of the worst transformations I've had to witness.
I bought the Takara and it’s great, but overall, I think this Deformation Space wins when you take cost into consideration. I’m very happy with the Takara, but I will buy the inevitable Deformation Space Skywarp whenever it’s released.
Transform element’s prime reminded my of fanstoys too. Maybe not quite as high quality but a third the price of average fanstoys (like this is there budget company)
I like this one a little better than the masterpiece star scream. I dunno I just don’t like how the masterpiece one has a beer belly of sort. Looks awkward even when the chest area has a fake cockpit. Probably a fix out there somewhere but for now I like this one.
For me, it's easy to see what's off about the face - the mouth is too close to his nose. Should be a few millimeters lower. Minor, but makes a huge difference.
I think the smirking face looks better and fixes that, even the smiling face. But the serious one looks okay too. If they make other seekers that one would work well for Thundercracker.
After a good night's rest and restarting the video where I left off, I have to agree with you. The mouth does appear to be a bit too close to the nose.

Nah, man. This is MPM levels of overly complicated transformation. Sure, MP52 is annoying (like 90% of MPs since MP36), but this is maddening!! Not to mention that it sounds like there's several parts that can use a lil' shock oil or some other lube for plastics to help that super tight squeakiness out. As clean as it is, I think that I'll stick to the MP11 mold, Yes Model reissues their Starscream, and it's a little cheaper than this. Closest to realistic jet mode? Neither, and not even MP52. Naaah, you want MP03 for that. But maaan, this month's been slingin' heat when it comes to products!! I actually like it when MP figures have complicated transformations I think I've done MP-36 at least 20 times because it's enjoyable, stuff like MP-28 is fun but boring I actually chucked my MP-29 for LT-01 because of how boring it was. Another example is I have transformed my Fantoys Koot at least 12 times because I find it fun I mean shit dude I flip my MP collection to alt modes at least once a month. It's not for everyone but to say it's overcomplicated and it sucks is an opinion because when they flip from bot to alt mode in less than 20 steps to me that's just a mainline figure 50+ steps is what I like 😎👍 I love seeing the engineering put into an MP
@@MrOmgchimps Ohhhhhh, MP28/MP40 is pretty simplistic, considering that it's basically the G1 toy's transformation with some extra work in it. Then again, it seems that MP24 Starsaber's like that as well...and MP13 Soundwave (and his Minions)...and maybe the Datsuns, too, but certain tidbits are a pain in the balls if they're not *just right*. And it's not that the transformations suck - only one I've come across that truly sucked was the nightmare that was MPM4 - they can just be annoying. And there's been quite a few mainline figures over the years that can be annoying in their transformations, too. (The old Deluxe class Optimus Prime from the War for Cybertron videogame is a glaring example... absosmurfinlutely SICK engineering, but annoying to get back and forth!) On the other hand, there's the MP44 mold. Pretty fun to transform, just irritating bits that are only irritating if they're not done just right.
I can respect sticking with MP11. I actually prefer it to MP52 and MT Meteor aesthetically. MP11 looks like a warrior, alt mode is solid, and transformation is pleasant. I'm going to pick up the DS though, it still looks intimidating(like a seeker should), and that articulation is really impressive.

I'm glad I waited a bit before actually buying MP-51 (I meant MP-52 but I'm leaving MP-51 so you can understand the comment above) and I will be sure to buy at least the other two main seekers from this company.
Thanks for the review Ben.
Arcee is an amazing figure! Get it! XD XD XD
@@themanaiacalgamer8451 yes, yes, yes...my mistake you got me there, I meant MP-52, MP-51 I already own.
DS could make a quick buck releasing a coronation and accessories pack for this guy.
Yeah it wouldn’t take much
Beautiful figure and I have the new mp… looks a lot better in ways
I will still try and get the new MP version though , I do always try and support takara but they are out pricing them selves
@@Benscollectables- they sure are. The takara starscream is nice but there are some issue with stability. Enjoy the channel!
That's it!! The Takara MP52 is non existence to me anymore!!
Lol just like that
@@Benscollectables This really does looks that good!
Damn my official one is coming tomorrow (honestly I preferred the gray) but this one does look lovely as well
There's no way this is easier to transform than Takara's MP-52, but this is still an EXCELLENT looking robot mode.
Couldn't have said it better myself 👏😁👍
I'm more drawn to Crimson Wings on so many levels, but the transformation process isn't one of them! LOL, if you handled Transform Element figures, you sure as hell better be ready for a complex reconfiguration from bot to alt more. But that's ok, I do admire the engineering complexity these companies do with these figures, but sometimes, lol, it's a nice breath of fresh air to work with something simplistic :) ( Shoutout to MMC ;)
)
I do intend to eventually but you nailed it !! So expensive isn’t it :(
Got mine last night and a few scratches on it out of the box and some things were not transformed correctly before being put in package but it looks amazing (this is my first Starscream) I do wish it came with accessories like the new MakeToys version has (6 face plates and energy effects for the weapons) so maybe they will release a upgrade kit for this figure and i hope they do the rest of the seekers
this one looks overall better than the takara one, tho the takara scale is probably a little closer to animation. But the takara transformation is definitely easier and simplier than this tho.
Nice video. Also my friend met you at Norwich Vintage and Modern Toy Fair and got a signed card from you for me.
Ha ha yes yes he did :)
Wait... waste rotation and an abb crunch.. no way. I mean how many different versions to actually see that?!??!
Not many I don’t think
Looks very nice but I had to laugh at the bit where you mention Emgo's MP transformation demo giving you The Fear before proceeding to show us a bugfuck mental transformation that gives me The Fear!
I'm putting the Decepticon logos right side up on the wings in bot mode. I just like them better that way.
Far more better than the original 👏😁
except the transformation :(
@@alexandersilva3327 ikr 5 out 10
@@sephiroth2776 im getting this figure in a month for Christmas and as much as the transformation is painful to watch, i want to feel the pain and struggle with it, i love transforming figures, even if it takes like 2 hours i wanna do it
Looking forward for mine to show up. My concern is that the videos I’ve seen of this figure so far they all result in scratching the sides of the body during transformation. I was hoping you would have addressed that. Great review otherwise as always.
I think mine has suffered the same … probably could be avoided with an instruction booklet lol
what kind of insignia have you applied? Water decals or stickers? They seem to be in the perfect position and I'll use this video for reference when I'll have to apply mine
Just the regular uncut stickers that came with the yes model , although water decals would probably look cleaner
I already gave my $2 deposit, when am I gonna have to pay the rest?
Hi what are those decepticons stickers?
What are you trying to say?
They are the ones that come
With the yes model figures
I dont think ive seen anyone do that engineering move of having the arms go to the back and inside the thrusters on a jet TF before, that's clever...and hard to get there as well lol, but clever none the less. It solves so much of the obvious "bot under the jet" cliche transformation.
That is my favorite part about this guy. Talk about thinking outside the box.
Damn this looks amazing. I had no problem with ay of the faces. They all look great!!
Awesome :) I wish they would make a Thundercracker colored one.
I’m sure they will
Ah Ben! You make a guy want to sell his Howling Meteor for this! 🤣
That is a very clean and super articulated bot mode. Plus the colour being that off white to a dull grey looks much better than MP-52.
Is there tabbing issues with alt mode? I found that with MakeToys Seekers.
Only part I messed up with the cockpit section but that’s me not knowing how to transform it I think … all tabs seem to work although the paint rub on the ab crunch does bother me
@@Benscollectables is that something that could be touched up if you get matching paint, maybe?
It looks like a reviewed MP version of New Age's Lucifer, pretty amazing.
20:10 was expecting a snapping noise…
If they put out Thundercracker and Skywarp I will certainly be picking them up.
Man... This looks really good, despite me liking simpler and more fun transformations... I'm going to need to convince the wife to let me get this one... Or maybe just apologise when it appears on our doorstep "by accident" XD
But but I slipped , it’s all Ben’s fault blame him 🤣
It's always easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.
Heh so its out that fast after the mp 52
In no universe is that less complicated of a transformation than MP-52. I had MP-52 memorized after like 2 or 3 times back and forth, but this guys got those little tiny floppy panels, and odd specific angles that pieces need to go for clearance, and those puzzle-piece shaped collar bone plates, and all of the things you have to line up to fit the arms INSIDE the legs, that's just not less complicated than what mp-52 does.
I do agree the transformation is much more complex, but it's also far more successful in both modes. Small price to pay imo.
@@matthewmccarron8915
The only angle Takaras jet mode hits is top down.
Do you got a list over the best ko versions per bot to get? Maybe material for upcoming episoder?
I have never made a list I’m afraid … so you have a character in mind and I could think about making a list for you
Hasbro is going to start cracking down if 3rd parties continue to make asses of them like this on a regular basis.
I'm embarrassed for them...
I agree. This one looks so much better than Takara's MP-52 and a whole lot cheaper!
"Speak!"
Michelangelo to his statue of Moses
Maybe we can say "Smirk!" instead.
How long was the delivery?
This 100% has a more complicated transformation than MP-52. of course that means you get more out of it (see the benefits everyone is quoting) but it definitely has more going on than the MP.
I own TE-01. How much more or less complex do you think this transformation is compared to the previous Transform Element/Black Mamba releases? Because either I'm getting MP-52 or this.
Many people are commenting saying this is harder than MP52 so please consider that …
Oh for sure it's a lot harder than MP-52. I'm just deciding if the loose ankles plus the reported breakages is worth it (plus the extra accessories that double up the price) compared to the only real downside being one of the worst transformations I've had to witness.
I mean I love it , I’ve got the TE prime and TE mirage and this looks amazing with them
Amazing puts the MP to shame. Instant buy!
I should be getting the Ko Mp55 screamer as well :)
I bought the Takara and it’s great, but overall, I think this Deformation Space wins when you take cost into consideration. I’m very happy with the Takara, but I will buy the inevitable Deformation Space Skywarp whenever it’s released.
This thing will definitely give everyone options on making their other seekers DS seekers.
Hi guys, does anyone know where can I buy the stickers used in the wings? Thanks!
Does he come in robot mode or jet?
He comes in Robot mode.
Robot mode
I’d love to see that one getting an OS version from a ko company.
It would make me thinking about selling my robot heroes version…
Much better looking than the MP-52 Starscream. Being able to move the hips for one, and not much parts forming with the cockpit.
I am sure I am wrong. But when I look at this, I see a lot of fans toys in it.
Actually the engineering looks more closer to Transform Element (prime and mirage) than FT
Transform element’s prime reminded my of fanstoys too. Maybe not quite as high quality but a third the price of average fanstoys (like this is there budget company)
It kind of reminds me of Magic Squares MP prime... I'm interested to feel the materials for myself.
I like this one a little better than the masterpiece star scream. I dunno I just don’t like how the masterpiece one has a beer belly of sort. Looks awkward even when the chest area has a fake cockpit. Probably a fix out there somewhere but for now I like this one.
Lol JobbyTheHong is gonna cream when he sees this 🤣
For me, it's easy to see what's off about the face - the mouth is too close to his nose. Should be a few millimeters lower. Minor, but makes a huge difference.
Nice observation. I'm not bothered by how it is, but I think you could be right.
It's definitely wrong. He looks like Starscream's tougher older brother.
I am very against KOs but this figure deserves to be praised. Takara get your shit together
It's not KO.
@@MaVeRiCk77 Well..technically 3P figures are KO:s, though they are still high quality products. I only refer cheap copies as knock-offs

Bot-mode, I think this one wins hands down.
Alt-mode I still like MP-3 for it's realism.
Scale wise? Robot Hero CG-01 Airstrikes all the way baby!
So you're saying this Starscream is better than MP-52 by watching Emgos video?
I have MP-52 and I gotta say the transformation is not as cumbersome nor is it complex in the slightest, sure MP-52 doesn't have a waste swivel but when you see how fun the figure is to transform it honestly is very minor.
Minor to you. Deal breaker to me. Even when the promo picks didn't show it, I refused to believe it until reviews...

I just ordered the MP46 Blackarachnia KO from Amazon last month (it should be getting here soon), I just put in a preorder on the MP49 Black Convoy KO with ShowZ, now this seems to be coming, as well as a MP32 Optimus Primal KO...sheeeeeeeeesh!!
Lol yep think I’ve got all those on order as well 🤣
I actually like it when MP figures have complicated transformations I think I've done MP-36 at least 20 times because it's enjoyable, stuff like MP-28 is fun but boring I actually chucked my MP-29 for LT-01 because of how boring it was.
(The old Deluxe class Optimus Prime from the War for Cybertron videogame is a glaring example... absosmurfinlutely SICK engineering, but annoying to get back and forth!)
On the other hand, there's the MP44 mold.
@@GibDozer1 mp11 is a solid figure … completely understand people sticking with something with the principle if it isn’t broken don’t fix it..
