I watch these videos and think "He's giving away all of the trade secrets to Finish Carpentry, someone's gonna steal these ideas and put him outta business". Then, I finish the video and see no shortcuts taken, attention to the process at each step, and a superb finish and realize there are very few people that can follow these guys lead. It's great watching your company grow because of the great work you produce. Thank you for sharing this work so DIY guys like myself have an amazing reference for our own projects and showing the world that there are still great craftsman out there. Cheers!
You can teach a man to fish and he'll still go to the grocery store and buy a salmon. These days, where so-called trade secrets are becoming less and less "secret," professionals like these guys will have no threats to their business. In fact, everyone's game is stepped up and that's all good in my book.
Lol this is more so millwright exept with shit wood and when you don’t need to. If that framing is not square which is usually what happens that does not work. This is a Mike Holmes type work where everything needs to be perfect before you start working. Good luck. This is factory work not trade work
1:27 Hearing the pre-glued crown moulding slide into place in the ceiling must be so satisfying. Sounded like they were perfect with a slight friction fit.
Dude... you need to understand that VERY few guys who do this work care about little details like you do. Seriously, they just do not care. Most guys in your industry just say “well it’s not my house” but you are so different. You care as if it is your house. Thank you for maintaining an incredible level of detailed execution and please never stop!
Lets play a game of "never have I ever" ill go first, Never have I Ever cut and assembled something on the ground and it go in and fit nice and snug like that hahaha. Nice work guys!
You are a true craftsman and I appreciate your attention to detail. Paint extension tube is a perfect example of knowing your tools and mastering your craft. Enjoy watching your work, Thanks!
aside from my own home and helping friends, I am not at all a carpenter. below says better than I can. I appreciate the work, attention to detail, patience! and the great communication skills. am learning and am entertained. a pleasure to watch and learn from a pro's pro.
I am starting to use your techniques with the 2part glue. Staying more time at a job making it look perfect clients are recommending my jobs more and more and paying a lot more.
Excellent results and great job explaining the process. As a finish carpenter I would really appreciate a video of how you price a job like that. Materials plus labour does NOT add up to those stunning results.
You are an unbelievably skilled craftsman. Its amazing to watch you put something together on the floor and see you slide it into place with little if any play. I'm too old to start over in this business, but I really enjoy watching your videos. Like watching an artist paint a landscape or listen to a band play your favorite song. Most people with your skill would be twice your age, because it takes that long to become as skilled as you.
Your videos are so detailed with explanations of each step. Your work is way above others. Your character is solid and honesty is above all. Thanks for these great videos.
Beautiful job,I have been a carpenter for over 30 yrs I love watching these videos you can always learn something, the day I cannot learn something is the day I quit.
Thank God for RUclips I been learning all sorts of stuff. I really like your work Richard. There's alot of things we can learn about crown molding and the ceiling work that you done here. Looks like a millionaire's ceiling omg. You're awesome!!!! 👍 Perfecto!!! All the metal stud framing making arches, rotundas, and soffits of all sorts with drywall I can just imagine in my mind what I like to do to my room. Thanks for all your creative ideas.
You are very meticulous. A rare find among carpenters. Most just want the job done and don’t care about the little imperfections. I love watching your videos.
I don't know anything about carpentry, but I know about passion and pride. Your work is amazing and obviously your reputation means something to you. I know some people put a thumbs down and made comments. Don't take it personal. For every hater commenting you had 100 people who admired your craftsmanship. Keep making videos and stay positive!!
If you look closely at the video you'll notice a lot of blemishes and holidays probably could have went for a couple more coats also small scaffold setup with walk boards would save you many trips up and down the ladders and a much more consistent job
I watch with amazement your incredible workmanship and how perfectly everything fits together! You are a master of accuracy and quality. Thank you for sharing your amazing abilities!
Beautiful! I've been trying to watch all your older content and get up to date...and like most...I'm very impressed! You are a measuring magician! You are spot on all the time! Your cuts are so fast and accurate...man...I want that! Thanks for these! Keep them coming@
I've been watching this series over here in England, and I have to say I really admire your work ethic. A beautifully executed job, that was a real pleasure to watch.
I am always amazed at the work you do. Kudos from a 71 year old framing carpenter that appreciates fine work that is better than I ever did in my life.
Just had back surgery so am lied up in hospital and your videos are getting me threw this am brushing up on the tips u give and in my opinion and i watch alot of carpentry videos and yours are light years ahead of any video's on youtube u explain it great work it top notch so cool what u do thx and keep rhose vids coming.
Nice the way you built those crown squares and they fit like a glove. Great explanation on your painting techniques and as always, thanks for the humor.
I am not quite sure everyone will be starting a business in your area to run you out of town! Not everyone watching this video can think as you, not everyone is an artist as you are! I have always loved finish carpentry! I have many books on this artform. Richard, your are one of those artists who will do the job right the first time and I know your work is sturdy as the ceiling coffer project! Thank you show us want to be's how to do it and do it right! And no! I am way to old to start doing what you do! But I appreciate your teaching and video work! =KL= Chicago PS Wonder if you will learn and teach ornamental plastering? That would be way over the top!
Nice. I know what you are talking about when you say you wish you could take it home. Finish carpenter here. I feel like that on alot of my jobs. I love my job.
I’m amazed with the amount of prep work you do. Masking, sanding, priming, sanding again! The panting seems to be the quickest part of the job. Clean-up, now there is something that’s a job by itself. God, I hate clean up!
When you teach, you learn more yourself. Thank you once again for your great videos! I wish you and your company the best of success! You're an elite dude!
You can see how tightly those crown segments fit inside the prior one by. It was interesting to see how you sprayed the ceiling, masking was a ton of work
Amazing job Richard and shout out to John for the great camera work. He's the unsung hero on the crew. You both do a superb job of amazing carpentry and great presentation on video.
I’ve watched all your videos that I’m aware of . What I’ve seen is a progression to master craftsmanship. Excellent work from another finish carpentry pro to you.
I hardly ever comment on youtube videos or anywhere for that matter... but I really like your show, im often working stupid late in my cabinet shop alone and I recently have been letting these play and ive got nothing bad to say. Got me feeling like i'm apart of the crew. Also that last track was absoo buttery. I doubt you'll even see this but thanks for sharing man
Awesomeness, started watching your channel. You have provided ample ideas for my mom's remodel. She is Mexico visiting and we are going to surprise her.
You are exactly right about the extensions. They work OK for a textured surface (popcorn, knockdown, etc.) but for smooth surfaces, I do not use them either. There is a device to prevent spits but it is pricey and if it is not your main job, better to just do without, as you did. Excellent work! That client will be referring you for years to come when people comment on that beautiful ceiling
I've been thinking about doing this in my master bedroom and now I know exactly how to do it you made it look so easy at least for me I have all the tools and I've been a woodworker for 50 years so I have all the skills needed to complete this project, you did a great job.
Impressive work, congrats

The Kings Fool Well Said ❤️
These aren't trade secrets. Most of what he does is standard Finish carpentry practices.
@@turbinepower77 Not where I'm from they aren't.

It was quite cool to hear and see
Was thinking that too. Dang
I was thinking the exact same thing. The sound they made sliding into their predestined location was proof of perfection and very gratifying.
@@christopheralegria71 ikr, I was thinking that same thing, it's a kool thing to experience.
Basically suction fit lol
THIS YOUNG MAN IS A CRAFTSMAN, THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR SKILLS AND IDEAS.

Nice finish on a well done job!
Ceiling is sick. Love the content, thank you

The natural wood color looked good in there too.

Beautiful workmanship Richard!
Unreal perfection!!
Your attention to detail is infatuating. The emphasis you put into the little things make your craft something to admire and marvel.
I really admire all your amazing work!!

This work is the definition of virtuosity. Congratulations to always taking the time to raise the bar. Bravo!

Pro to the core..looks fantastic.. anyone who has ever worked on high ceilings knows how difficult it can be. Great video and so motivational.

This video is incredible. That crown nails the finish on the ceiling.
Nice work.
I long ago bought a portable rolling scaffold system. Easy to move in, set up, roll about. Saves me bones, safer, etc.
Your. A ace my friend, not many people do that kind of quality anymore,
Excellent Crown work. Love the perfect snug fit and of course always planning ahead is what make you a true pro who does quality work.
I am impressed that you build the crown boxes on the floor and then put them up. Way braver that I am...haha

I appreciate you being honest about BMC. They need to hear that contractors don’t appreciate the skunkeye when they return substandard material.

I also liked the light colored natural wood ceiling with the rails.
I love it. Appreciate how you assembled the crown squares and then installed them in the grid. Going to steal that idea.
I’ve always enjoyed your videos but this one is just over the top. Love that ceiling man!

I’m in the US, I’ve been watching a series in the UK called The Repair Shop...nothing like what Richard does here, but still a lot of precision work.
I am always amazed at the work you do. Kudos from a 71 year old framing carpenter that appreciates fine work that is better than I ever did in my life.
that is such a satisfying sound when you slide it up and in, nice and tight, and give that last little bump to seat it in!
That's what SHE said... 😁
