Cleveland girl here, born and raised; just recently migrated to Milwaukee WI............saying what's up to all the Glenville and East High grads (class of 95; all the way live) out there; 125th & St. Clair representing all day!!! This song takes me back to the good days before kids and bills, when Lim's on 125th used to sell all the good varieties of penny candy!!! "Lynn Tolliver and Ralph Poole, just the two of us, we're rockin to the beat and rocking to the groove"!!
the funny thing is....when I try to ask people to play this song, they look at me like I'm crazy. No wonder.....I'm seeing all these Cleveland people.....this must have been a Cleveland thang. No wonder they don't understand! Cle.....stand up!!!!!
Sarae Ramsey Detroit too. I am from Da land straight up and down. Cleveland born bred and cut. But these dudes are from the D. But you are so right this is a Cleveland thang...I live in Miami but I am coming home soon cause this ain’t my demo. Been here 12,years and these cats just ain’t like us. I’m out and soon.
glad you guys still like the song..my dad paul stewart jr was singing this one....dope song i wasn't even born yet untill 3 years later.......he's still playing professionally in bands as a bassist
Dreamboy was performing in the first "show" I ever went to. It was RJs Latest Arrival (they were singing Shackles on my Feet.) Force MDs were there. (Tears, Tears, Falling like the Rain. LOL). Dreamboy, of course, was there... you know the songs they sung back then. And then... NEW EDITION! Where I held the glance of a certain Member for a few exciting moments. It was so fun. I had a great time. Dap your dad for me!
Spaceman music I first heard this song when I was seven or eight years old and it stuck with me. it's still one of my favorite songs from the early 80s... such a rarity and it's hard to find this song online. I actually tried to purchase it but it wasn't for sale anywhere
I recorded the last 20 seconds of this song off the radio before I went to school in the morning. WDMT FM 108 out of Cleveland. when I was 16. That was 39 years ago. I just now found out who sang this song. And I finally got to hear the entire song for the first time. I can rest now. Damn, what a great song. Thanks guys!
if u grew up in cleveland pacificly between 1984 to 1998 u know this song very well it was a very popular slow jam on WZAK..for lovers only wit Jeffrey Charles/Bobby Rush those were the days
Yes, I do remember this song. Definitely a rareity. I didn't even realize it was a Cleveland song.. I guess it was along the lines of Men at Large, Rude Boys, etc. because the local radio stations had it on regularly back then.
No words can express how I feel about this song....just know it makes me feel good all over and takes me back when life was simple and love was still alive in our hearts.
I can remember being in college in 1985. My roommate and I was all district and all state tenors. We use to call the girls dorm and sing to any number and then hang up. Before we knew it the rumor was they had these two guys calling them, at a time that they needed it. They never found out who we were. But we was the best unknow singer on our Campus at S.L.U.
I had a buddy who wanted to start a group. I would have been the bass and could sing good background. He was really into dreamboy at the time and I didn't know it. Desmond and I are in our late 40's and I think of what could have been? Anyway this is one of my favorite Dreamboy song's. Back in the Day , it was a certain innocence to songs.....I Miss it very much.....
Reading your comment almost brought me to tears. I was born in 84, so the sound is in my dna. Around the mid 90s, my friends and I would croon till the sun came up or the cops were called. We didn't take it serious, but we just enjoyed the music. We would cry out sounding something awful, but it was fun for us and it made others laugh. "What yall know about them songs!??! Yall too young!!!" We heard that all the time 🤣🙏
I first heard this group when I was in the Marines from a friend but never knew who the group was . I love their sound. It really brings my youth back . Very impressed as a 19 yr old kid and musician myself. The singing was perfect in every way.
That's crazy as I also discovered them while serving as a Marine when I purchased a "Smooth Groove" compilation. "Don't Go" was the song that hooked me.
Awwwww you sound like me :) I feel you girl! This music takes you back to a time when life was just beautiful and we took it for granted! It is truly bitter/sweet. Keep the memories alive! I just wish I had taken more pictures back then :)
In Cincinnati, Ohio on both WBLZ FM and later the original WIZFM with their Quietstorm format. They used to play this song and I Promise I Do Love You a lot during those days. It reminds of this pretty little girl that I knew it in grade school, who eventually became a beautiful young lady. For a time we used to be tight. And I remember this song being played in Music class one day. Damn this brings back so many memories of being caught in the spell of what many of us believed to be love.
Thanks for the post I remembered this song from when I was in elementary. I loved it. Struggled to find it I searched RFTW,Troop and one day I was at my friends radio station and this came on and I was like my guy who is this ? Bam
I think I’m the only one here not from Cleveland 😂 that’s because I just discovered them/ this song because I love 80s music. This reminds me a lot of “Make Me a Believer” (1983) by Luther Vandross, I love it
I grew up in the right decade, but the wrong city, apparently. Cleveland Slow Jams are on another level! I thought KPRS’ Quiet Storm (I’m from KC) was just the best! Maybe other cities should have sent their Quiet Storm DJs to Cleveland for a couple of weeks to learn about some of these hidden gems!
wow!!!! Thanks for posting this song, brings back great memories, when I lived in Nap town hanging with my cool cuzo Robert Coffe. good memories indeed.
Listening to DREAMBOY in 2023❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
