I bought the Boss Pedal but as shown in the video, it just couldn't handle Line Level very well and kept clipping, so sent it back and have ordered the KT. The KT sounds a little more open in the top end which Chorus can affect and I'm one using it to widen mono synths. Thanks for doing the video.
Thanks for doing this A/B. Wish the DC-2W had more headroom for line input, the distortion on the synth pad is very noticeable.

Thank you for making this comparison, especially for including a pad sound. I bought my DC-2w two months before this video was uploaded and I'm glad I did it. The BOSS's "S" mode is the mode I use much more often. It just soothes my taste better. I overcame the potential input distortion problem by reamping and attenuating the signal coming out of the DAW. On top of it all, the guitar pedal format makes the DC-2w so much easier to use in my case. On the other hand, I kinda like what the KT does to the low end in these comparisons. The other differences are pretty subtle when one listens for them on RUclips.
I bought the Klerk Teknik from Sweetwater recently, and I really like it. Sounds great for both acoustic guitar and synths. Fits nicely in the 12u rack along with some rack mounted synths and Furman strip.
Thanks for this. They both sound fantastic. I’m going for the KT because I think my electric pianos and synths will appreciate the inputs and headroom.
FYI, watching and reading more about the KT, it is sounding less like "more headroom" and more like "the low frequencies are being phased out by an overcranked BBD chorus" much like my juno 106, albeit much cleaner and more subtle
Thank you for this, have been tempted to pick up a KT 3rd Dimension. Been running my DX7 into the Dimension D (waza, sdd settings), with a Boss DD3 and a Lexicon Reverb. I don't think the Klark will be any improvement over the lush 80's sounds I'm getting with the current setup. Cheers.
They sound different. The KT sound is like it's moving in the stereo field. With the current prices for BOSS DC2W going up with 40 euros, the KT is a no brainer. And even has XLR ins and outs.
Although Boss is the clear winner, Teknik is good for higher thinner results for less wider instruments such as mono instruments (Bass guitar, and Lo-Fi synths as well as low reverb compact pop piano/keys).
The KT is a little more warmer and do cut better through the mix and the boss muffles the high & clash with the bass frequencies. Although you can subtract and filter the bass on the boss it is better to leave audio without eq. Try to compare these on bass guitar & keyboard 🎹
Just tried my MD-500 on this setting and it is better than both of these IMHO. The daft thing is that the default setting was mono at 70%, tweak it and the magic happens.
Thanks for this great comparison. Difficult to say what is the winner. Maybe I still prefer my Boss. I am happy that I don’t have to spent money for a new pedal 😆
The Klark most def has less bottom. Makes it sound like everything is High Passed. I like the sound of it, but just wish it had better frequency response. Mod????? Hmmmmmmm
BOSS sounds slightly better to me and I prefer a compact pedal to a 19" 2U rack machine. Plus the BOSS has other modes besides SDD chorus making it more versatile. Regarding distortion, like with most guitar pedals, you need to keep the input level on the synth down a bit and then re-amp after (or crank your input gains on the mixer/soundcard a bit).
Definitely more hiss on the klark. Boss sounds slightly wider, btw the md500 doesn’t i sent it back the stereo image was rubbish compared to this pedal.
Hard to pick between them sonically. The boss is way more compact but does the Klark handle line level so would be better for synths? Is the takeaway that the boss is better for guitar and the Klark is better for synths?
Made In Machines the guitar is coming from my Yamaha MOXF-8, the pad comes from a Oberheim Matrix 6, so yes, the Boss pedal can handle line level very well.

Finally the right material to hear the things. Shocked what other engineers??? were playing through it.

perhaps clipping on the pedal happened cause reamp box wasnt put before pedal to match impedance of the pedal inputs with louder sources
Both sound great. Thanks for adding pads to the test, that makes some sense.

Thanks for your detailed comment. The differences are indeed subtle and in my studio environment the KT fits in very well.

These pedals are not supposed to take line level from synths, so yes, a reamp box would have helped

I prefer the boss, it sounds thicker/fuller, it may have more low end. The klark while it can be more open sounds weaker to me.

Nice video👍
KT has more snappy transients… surprising. i was expecting to like the waza more
The Boss sounds more defined in the stereo field...
$189+ for the Klark! 😲 I'm in utter disbelief! I just assumed this unit would be AT LEAST $600. SOLD.

Boss has a more flattering low end
Agreed, the Klark Teknik sounds either quieter or lacking low end.
Definitely more hiss on the klark. Boss sounds slightly wider, btw the md500 doesn’t i sent it back the stereo image was rubbish compared to this pedal.
I didn't even notice it until you pointed out lol. More vintage vibe then?? Haha
is the boss able to recreate an ensemble 3-chorus like on string machine?
I think you need a small stone phaser
for that
Not really. There used to be a stand alone chorus ensemble called the Synthoma Elkorus, but it was discontinued. Klark Teknik should clone that.
Hard to pick between them sonically. The boss is way more compact but does the Klark handle line level so would be better for synths? Is the takeaway that the boss is better for guitar and the Klark is better for synths?

Boss has a bit more richness to the lows, and a bit more sparkle on the top end. It would be cool to a/b with an original Dimension D.
TheLexluthier I would do an extensive test video, if I had a Roland dimension D.
The Klark sounds a little sterile and clinical compared to the pedal. It’s okay but the Boss has the mojo.
Boss succs!
Lets say there are differences
@@Bernd_Bruening Okay, but I hear the Behringer is more my taste.
All in stereo?
Lee Atkins both mono in and stereo out.
Boss spreads more and is cleaner. I want a boss.
jonny historia I think the differences are very subtle. In the end it’s a matter of personal taste.
BOSS wins! VERY Clearly.
Boss sounds the best by far. Not sure what KT were thinking.
Difference is subtle
They sound like totally different effects.
I wouldn't say they sound totally different, but there are minor differences.
Thank you BOSS. Lets get that old heavy garbage out of our studios and put it where it belong.. Thae garbage bin.
Still isnt better than vintage original less headroom and flat modulation
Behringer wins! Roland's succed
Buy Behringer CC300 and save some serious money ;)
Whe whole "guitar pedals instead of studio processors" thing while novel, is cringe. Not your use or anything, but guitar pedals are just cringe af.
