  • The Paris Summer Olympics are quickly approaching, and two volunteer physicians from Seattle Children’s will be supporting Team USA at the games. This will be Dr. Monique Burton’s third year participating in the Olympics, representing USA Track and Field.
“I’m super excited,” said Dr. Burton, sports medicine pediatrician at the Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic (OBCC). “I feel really honored to be able to be with our athletes.”
Dr. Brian Krabak is also traveling to Paris as one of the volunteer team physicians for USA Swimming. Drs. Burton and Krabak will help address any medical issues the athletes may face.
“We’re ready 24 hours a day to be able to support our athletes, whether it’s physical or emotional,” Dr. Burton said. “We’ve got a great staff to be able to care for them.”
At OBCC, Dr. Burton uses her expertise to help kids get healthy, stay healthy and reach for their dreams. For some, that means aiming for the Olympics.
“At our clinic, we’re grateful to be able to care for all the different types of athletes that come our way,” she said.
Dr. Burton recommends getting regular physical exams, working on injury prevention and rehab, focusing on proper nutrition and getting adequate sleep.
OBCC centers around bringing quality healthcare with dignity to children, from birth to young adulthood, regardless of their family’s economic situation.
“Odessa Brown is just such a special place,” Dr. Burton said. “We have an amazing staff. It went from being one person to now we have over 100 staff [members].”
Dr. Burton and other providers at OBCC want to make sure that everyone is able to meet their full potential.
As for her upcoming Olympic journey, Dr. Burton is looking forward to being in a magical place with colleagues and seeing all the athletes from around the world come together.
