  • This SHOCKING Fish Farm Is Growing Fish Faster Than Ever Before
Lifting water is very heavy, and likewise very energy intensive. It's much easier to move the water. By doing so, one may dramatically reduce energy use. A business in Norway called Andfjord Salmon has figured out how to do that very thing. Their facility is submerged in the ground, so the pool is at the same level as the adjacent sea. This eliminates the need for water to be pumped. In fact, they do not have pumps for doing this at all - instead, they use flow boosters. Which translates to a lot of energy saved.
But better than that, this Fish Farm Is Growing Fish Faster Than Ever Before
Land-based fish farmer Andfjord Salmon has reported an “industry-leading” survival rate for the first batch of fish stocked in its flow-through system at Kvalnes on the Norwegian island of Andøya.__If there is one certain thing, it is that the fish in the pool at Kvalnes thrive. The survival rate is currently at 99.4%.
So, how come they're doing so well?

    here's a hint - if your story is about farming/raising salmon -
make sure the fish in your story are salmon and not a bunch of other types of fish
also - the story was about the "new flow thru fish farm for salmon"
so why would you keep showing a bunch of videos of different types of fish farms - again why ?

One of the conservation scientists said if people knew how big the fish were, they would never go swimming. Maybe a system of lagoon type gravity waste ponds would work, but i don't know how it's done without pumping. Need more information than this video provides.

Lifting water from 40 meters unlikely to prevent lice infestation in previously infected areas, filtration to the point of prevention will be costly in set up maintenance and labour. whilst also removing any natural food source from the water stream, is the water leaving the farm filtered?and what chemicals are they using during production runs. The whole system comes across as a high tec version of late victorian trout farming. Does the farm produce it's own energy or grow the food requirements of the stock.Does seem to have been granted rather large quotas for a system still in development. I will be interested to see how well this scheme does in the long term and whether it will work with other species or even in a symbiotic multi specie fashion.

Every video that has "shocking" in its title is click bait and should be deleted from youtube. Stupid choice.

A 9 minute vid that could have been 2 because of the cyclical nature of the commentary. Any hoo apart from that . Traditional salmon farms are an eco-disaster, if this proves to be safer then that is really good. What happens to all the sewage? That tonnage of fish will sure do some shitting in a day. So please pardon me if I wont hold my breath waiting for the benefits to show.Because all these promises were made when aquaculture first started seriously in the 1970s.

8 minutes to say the tanks are below sea levels and have the water flow into the tanks without pumps and uses less energy
recreating a cleaner and healthier water conditions for the fish
There, I saved you 8 minutes of mumble jumble on repeat
