Dolphins fan here no surprise at all. He wanted to be an eagle last season he even said it in his interviews.
Vic never wanted to be apart of the Dolphins. He always wanted to be an Eagle. He got shafted out of the job by Gannon and as soon as that came available, he wanted to come straight back to Philly.
How'd he get shafted by the guy that got the job and took the D to the Super Bowl?
His players will love him, just ask Broncos and Dolphins players...
This is correct.
McDaniel and Fangio always seemed like the weirdest pairing. Even watching their interactions in Hard Knocks it was always awkward and stilted
He got paid a ton of money to come to Miami. Was highest paid DC.
Staley........😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂🤪🥴🤣😂😂😂😂😂 The Defense Guru
Just another reason why Philly is the supreme sports city. If it became public players were bitching about their coach being too tough, they'd be run out of the city, literally 😂 Fangio is gonna do great.
People say Lightning McQueen is speed... Apparently, ya'll never met Fangio
He's literally the best Defensive mind in the league. Granted some DCs have outshined him in previous years like Lou Anarumo, Joe Gannon, or Mike MacDonald.
But Vic is top dawg
@@maskedman5657he was good when we had the starting lineup in at Miami, once the all-stars went down, his ego got the best of him and he allowed veterans who were getting cooked continue to play instead of trying to give the younger guys a shot. Kinda glad he’s gone as he didn’t fit in with what Miami is trying to do.
Vic Fangio has been everywhere!
He was really good being the DC for the Bears but soon as he took that HC job in Denver he hasn’t been the same
Definitely had that lined up prior
Yeah shouldn’t that be tampering?
@@anthonystoro nah, its not illegal. Its recommended to have a new job lined up if you know youre current one is coming to a close. Will the Fins feels some type of way? Maybe. Should the Eagles be concerned that he has no problem jumping ship? Probably.
I think its cool to have pagano on the show with his views from the coaching side.
If Fangio don’t work in Philly the city will literally burn. Book it.
refused to play cam smith even with all the injuries. Hope we get to see him next year
Maybe Cam Smith sucks. I mean Chris Grier did draft him. He is know to draft players that suck. He does it more often than not.
@@dreadedheathen9987beat reporters said he looked good and players confirmed. Doghouse for not understanding the defense
Exactly, he had something against Cam Smith
@@dreadedheathen9987 bro what you saying that he can’t draft are you dumb? So Jaylen waddle is a bad pick? So Austin Jackson is a bad.? so Robert Hunt is a bad pick? So Devon achene is a bad pick? Yeah buddy go do your homework next time casual it’s clearest day that you don’t know nothing about football.
@@tristanjohnson2678 well...if you don't understand the defense...your a liability at that point...so why should he play until he understands the defense ? I mean that's just logic. (if that's the real reason why)
1 year into a 4 year contract. Why didn't the Dolphins try and get some compensation from the Eagles for Vangio? He still was under contract. Maybe a sixth or seventh round draft pick from Philly would've been appropriate
It's a coaching contract, so the team isn't impacted by it, only Ross. That said, I assume if there was any chance that they could have gotten something in a trade they would have done it.
@@OldManInternet True. I was thinking of the whole Jon Gruden episode LOL
because in reality it's not as easy to trade a coach. (not as easy as it is to trade a player)
From Miami to Philly, must be nice.
I'll never forget what he did for my Bears during the 2018 season
Ur bears hell what about my broncos
Damn right. Bear Down
The retread cycle is crazy
Vic was never there mentally or physically. He was awful in term of getting guys in the right place the make plays. I am glad his gone.
to be fair.. the dolphins line and linebacker core was starting to be dominant up till all the injuries... the secondary seemed to be WEAK down the stretch.. kinda makes sense...
I did find myslef yelling at the tv quite alot at our corners getting smoked..
That's because they are either washed, or bums.
As a fan of one of the 2 teams without a HC currently, I wish coach Pagano wasn't retired, to be honest. He's so awesome and real.
As a Phins fan.. I'll tell you what happened.. He wants to coach for a winning team. He wants to coach players who wanna be coached and not coddled like children. These are some of the softest players out there. You can see it on the field every week. So yeah I don't blame Vic
Too much zone and not enough press coverage. Ramsey and Howard are built for press man
I think he’s just an old-school coach and some guys just didn’t like being coached hard
Yep more and more new age guys that just wanna be coddled told how great and fast they are
Miami was the best team hill has ever played for remember 😂
People say Fangio slipped last season. But I think the blame for that goes to the Phins training staff. The D was so banged up last season. Even then they did well against the run. Fangio is a massive upgrade from what we had. Lol.
So now the players decide who they want.
Yes soon you won't be able to tell the NBA and the NFL apart.
McDaniel’s lost the changing room. As soon as you give prima donna players power over coaches then you’ve lost your authority.
Your dumb
Yep guy won’t ever win in the playoffs
Fangio was not even into the dolphins in the first place. I knew that crap he pulled at the beginning of the season when he kept teasing back and forth if he was going to Miami or not. Why would you not put your best defenders against the best receivers and teams dominated miami in the red zone on both sides of the ball.
It’s Fangiover😔…
This was what fangio wanted last year but the eagles still had Gannon when fangio was offered the deal.
Philly’s piss poor offense beat fangio’s defense. What’s there to get excited about?
We don't miss anything without Fangio stay with the birds for a very long time.....
Chris Grier has been an employee fo the Dolphins for 24 years. Last 8 as GM. Dolphins have not won a playoff games in 24 years. Fangio lost to Chris Grier. Fangio was brutally honest about his team in press conferences. Won't play players who he feels are not ready. What does Mike McDaniel know that Vic Fangio didn't know? Stephen Ross' best friend is Chris Grier. When Chris Grier gives you a player, your job is to play him and make it work. Not sit them on the bench the entire season. Cam Smith. Mike says, "See ya Vic. Have a nice day."
Grier isn't going anywhere especially with the Brian Flores lawsuit still going on. We have become a dumpster fire next year will be embarrassing.
How dare you come at Chris Grier…. 😂. Phins will never win under Grier. He was taught and groomed around such dysfunction. Plus lawsuit makes him being fired a bit dicey. Freakin Miami Dolphins! 🤦♂️
The sad part about coaching pro sports is the owners and the GMs dictate who you will coach...No matter how bad THEIR choices are... YOU still held accountable.
Chuck is a real one
Desai learned under Fangio in Chicago, perfect transition
Let's keep it real.... if Vic Fangio was that good of a D.C., he wouldn't have bounced around so much.
He doesn’t bounce around much. He before the Dolphins, he coached the Broncos for three years before that he was the Bears successful DC and before that the Niners DC.
There is literally zero good Italian food down here. He wanted to go back to philly where Big Dom knows how to slice the garlic
He wanted big doms sausage
Is there a place that Ramsey has played where he hasn't complained?
funny Jevon Holland whos very quiet and humble was happy as soon as Fangio left
Indeed. Tons of talent...but.. diva
the answer to that is...nope. lol complained in Jacksonville, complained in L.A., now complaining in Miami. all mouth, little results to back it up. good player, but not as good as his hype says. gets burnt on the regular for being a " shut down " corner, that he supposedly is.
Ramsey is who he is
He wanted to go there in the first place, it was probably money, they had a good defense and offensive performance against good teams was the problem. They had 6 opportunities to shoot it out against playoff teams and they scored 1 20 point and many below that in 6 losses, the defense failed against the Bills and Ravens.
and the Titans
Absolutely. Offense wasn't great at times against iffy teams, either (24 against New England in the first meeting, 20 against the Raiders). But when you criticize the offense, I think most people just remember the 70 against Denver. But if you look at the entire body of work ... the offense was up and down (mostly down against playoff teams) and, as a Dolphins fan I'll say it ... seems to be generally overrated.
one of the complaints in Denver was Vic's old school, run players into the ground in practice approach. I wonder if Fins feel like the injury bug was related to his practice approach.
Vic was not liked in Denver, but while he was HC, the Denver defense was fierce. His failure in Denver was OC and QB, which is a pretty common problem
That's the problem these dudes don't want to practice anymore.
Yep fins have soft players . Not a good match
Players now a days come from that entitled generation, god forbid they get a tough love kinda coach.
Staley had prime Aaron Donald and jalen Ramsey. Of course he was going to have success.
They also didn’t like Flores and now it’s Vic Fangio now it’s a trend?
I'm surprised he didn't wait and go to the Charges with Harbaugh
Wonder if Jim is bringing any of his staff from Michigan
As a Dolphins fan I don't mind Vic moving on..if he isn't happy and the players aren't..good luck in Philly. I DO find the fast turnaround curious and of course Miami will get NOTHING for any kind of tampering with coaches under contract like every other team seems to get. Goodall really has a Hate On for Ross I think
Coach talking about how he dealt with players coming to him with issues is probably why he’s not a coach anymore. This old school way of doing things is over.
"i had a weird feeling this was coming"
Last year, when he brought Renaldo Hill, I thought to myself this stent is short term and the delay in signing with Miami - something stunk
Did we all forget that he wanted to be the eagles DC last year???
"...Jalen Ramsey has been frustrated with the way he was being used."
So it was a typical day for Jalen Ramsey?
A lot of people down here don’t like Fangio. Fangio didn’t seem happy here either.
AJ is always smirking at random moments. His wife prob in front of him teasing or something lol
Dolphins have too many low high talent/low character guys on that team. JRAM is a hall of fame talent with the character of a spoiled child. When you have those types of players leading your team better have a full squad of them otherwise you won’t be good enough to overcome the negative culture they cultivate
Won't miss Fangio at all lol
Miami should hire Bill Belichick as DC. It would benefit them in many ways!
Belichick wouldn't do it. He's in the twilight of his career. He wants the all time HC wins record.
@@eamonkelley3811 so what team is that? Dolphins are knocking on the Div door already and if they don’t get there with Mikey McD, how long til they turn to Billie B, especially if he’s already building the D! 2 years? 1 year? And what other team can give him that sooner?
@georgebryan9404 I was shocked Atlanta didn't go with him. Unless Washington hires him he's taking a year off but honestly though don't rule out Buffalo, I could see them shaking things up.
Did y’all forget that Vic was supposed to be in Philly last year but Gannon fucked the whole jawn up? This isn’t a one sided situation.
Dolphin fan here...Fangio did a solid job, especially after half the starters went down, def a good pick up for The Eagles...Dolphins do this all the time, throw huge wads of money to guys like Saban, Parcells, Fangio, etc... That clearly don't want to be here..Fangio seemed miserable all season.
Imagine Parcells coaching this generation. They wouldn’t put up with his degrading-coaching style
It’s not that hard fangio is from east Strasberg and his family is local. Not to mention he wanted to be in Philly last year but Gannon waited to go to the cardinals
If Dolphins hire Staley then it’s two stooges in coaching positions for them 🤣
I see why you don’t have a position in the NFL, keep your day job! 🤡
He was tired of being beat by good teams
You gotta be slow if you thought Fangio would work well under McDaniel😂 Philly needs him to take over for Sirianni once he’s fired
Maybe that’s why he went there what’s another year?
Miami’s defense was awful all year. I would have been more surprised if they kept him
No it wasn't. Clearly don't know what you are talking about. It was bad the first half. Then the defense got a lot better then ended up falling off the cliff again because of injuries. That's not on Vic
@@maskedman5657 I agree the injured aren’t on him. That’s part of the game and there’s nothing you can do about that.
But if the best argument for him doing a good job is “we only sucked for half of the year” then I get moving off of him
He wasn't Miamis DC all year. SMDH
@@WESTSIDEOXD Miami fired him in February of 2023 as their DC….
@@conlanchastain3708 he wasn't fired LOL
He's the real deal, especially when he coached Patrick Willis and that stingy 49ers defense
Why do the Eagles insist on hiring coaches that have issues with players and can't seem to connect with talented guys, because he doesn't use them properly. I was mad at first when I heard the hire, then I tried looking at the good. I end up with more bad. We need coaches that can use talent in a creative effective way and be able to connect with them on a personal level so they feel good about playing for you. No these players do no want to play for Matt Patricia or even Vic Fangio seemingly and here the Eagles are hiring him. SMMFH HOWIE.... WTF DUDE???
going with staley isnt any better 😂😂 stats dont lie
I’ll guarantee you this, Philly won’t give up another touchdown all season 😤 fly birds fly
This show sucks now. Thanks ESPN for long pauses
How could we not see this coming, have you seen Mike McD on hard knocks no respectable coach would work for this fool. You can see the players don’t even play attention to him, just odd
The Dolphins............. Lol!
Eagles tampered, hopefully we get some picks out of it
Ramsey will always be a problem when he isn't winning.
Do you call 11-6 not winning… Fangio is the one who let cd lamb get over 100 yards by not putting the right guy on him
Vic was supposed to be the Eagles dc last year
Vic never wanted to be there
Vic has always been a great DC but I think his Defensive scheme is trash in todays NFL. They give up too many first downs to “not get beat deep” yet every team marches on them down the field in 15 play drives because they leave short routes wide open. Trash scheme
My God I hope Staley doesn't go to Miami. That dufus sucks
Fangio's defense can't play well against good QBs. And all of his tree got canned this offseason...
bring back cover 0!
The problem is these players dont wanna practice no more fundamentals are terrible these players dont wanna tackle practice on technique nothing Rams had no interest in keeping Ramsey anymore cause he's a cancer and Miami gonna find out the hard way.
Miami players just didnt like being held accountable for being FRAUDS. Our defense (Eagles) is gonna suck ballz this year again too. Wont be Vic's fault smdh
Fangio did a good job but his heart wasn’t in it in Miami. Glad he’s gone tbh, he’s where he wanted to be the entire time.
At times his defense worked great then there's giving up 15 points in 4 minutes to the Titans and cost the Dolphins the AFC East Championship. I really didn't like the 3-4 I prefer the 4-3 so has Holland said kick rocks
Bro screw fangio the dolphins, eagles, Seahawks all ran the same play book for defense the scheme sucks
As a Bills fan I’m upset that Fangio left the AFC. I enjoyed watching our Bills torch his defense twice a year.
What about when yall lose in the playoffs every single year in the most embarrassing way possible every single year. Laughing stock of the league
egos clashing or bro just wanted to go to the Eagles.
Devastating loss for the Fins...
"As the Eagles look to build upon this season's slide into sub-mediocrity, they hire Vic Fangio to help drive a nice healthy culture of discontent."
Seems like a Jalen Ramsey issue to me.
Funny that people doesn't know the eagles bought vic in to help our defense under Gannon in that superbowl run. Thats when the eagles d florist and got all those sacks and turnovers. He left before the superbowl and look what happened in that game
Dammit. Come on up to detroit. We're going to need ya when A.G. leaves.😅
Thank God. Vic Fangio single handedly lost them the Titans game.
I didn't see Fangio with pads and a helmet.
Yeah lol. Had nothing to do with the offense and the QB melting in Primetime AGAIN
@@donmaduro5262Totally agree with the sentiment but he is responsible for putting his players in situation/plays to succeed. Prevent defense on two straight drives ain’t it.
@@dreadedheathen9987No arguments here. One first down and the entire season plays out different. Still doesn’t make up for the fact the defense gave up 14 in less than 3 minutes.
@@ItemNineSo then it would be on the players and plethora of injuries the team sustained, and not the DC.
Another example of players running the team instead of the coaches running the team
Let the coaches play the game
Top tier content 🦅
Can someone with more knowledge on the situation explain what the players problem with Fangio was? Seems to me that the diva type positions and young guys had a problem with him. Seen a “old school” player or 2 come out and speak highly of him but we’ll see how it plays out can’t be much worse than last year smh GO BIRDS 🦅
As a die hard man definitely a die hard dolphin Then I was kind of upset. To see Staley's in the running after he had Herbert and couldn't finish at thats kind of our same problem at the moment. I love Mike McDaniels. He's an offensive genius, a scheming genius. But he's got to work on his. Game endings strategies this year r. Because a lot like the there's, we obviously couldn't finish games to. We get big leads and then they walk us down and honestly to keep Kansas City under 30 and a playoff game. It's kind of impressive when your offense isn't playing good. Because that takes the life out of the defense too. Unless you're Ray Lewis and the the 49ers defense.
I see a Baltimore Ravens, 49ers rematch. I hate betting against mahomes. But I think Lamar's on fire this year. And they say he's got a great defense. But hope the lions win but I thought vic v was great everywhere else but he started coming
Miami’s defense is great ! Not Fangio! Pat wake up dude is a wash man!
Vic has no loyalty p o s and offense coordinator. We were built to be kc
yeah fly him out of florida let him land where he's needed most
3-4 --is not good for Eagles personal...
"He coaches us too hard!!!"😪🎻
@@basdfef4775 - Sucks to have an old-school disciplinarian who keeps you out of the Strip clubs, you mean....
Bombshell!
The dolphins defense was weak and soft all season. Have him lol. Maybe the guy will learn to blitz before the 4th quarter in philly
Fangio defence is lethal if you have the players with the skills to run it who buy in. He has expectations that players know their role and doesnt put up with people not knowing their roles. He is not a players coach. He is a no nonsense "get your job done and shut up" coach, lol.
Nah his little two high looks can be deciphered by D2 league qbs these days and plays prevent defense anytime they had a lead
It’s damn near deadly when he’s got healthy LB’s to run it.
@@walidhannaoui1802 Nah. Watch the tape again. The dolphins lost most of their primary dogs to injury and the backups couldnt handle it. It was very lethal before all the injuries hit. Fangio's defence is complex and requires players who are football smart and committed to their role each play.
@@heavymetallabrat I watched every game and don’t dispute it CAN be deadly but it’s also severely flawed. Offenses have developed and adjusted to that two high look and any good qb can tell post snap what the safeties are rotating to. I mean I watched the Ravens run the same rub route with their RB two times in a row and another two times in the same game with no adjustment.
Check his stats vs mobile quarterbacks as well, which in 2024 is damn near every qb. They’re not good. I watched this dude call prevent defense in the titans game and had Will Levis looking Tom Brady. He may have been a defensive pioneer but his playcalling in todays game is severely outdated
@@walidhannaoui1802 He was exceptional against mobile qbs in denver. He built a defence in Denver that became the envy of ever defence used afterwards and was top 5 in almost every major category. Its hard to adjust if the defence doesnt buy into the program. Personel also severely limits your ability to change your scheme and the depleted dolphins need more depth. The dolphins also desperately need someone who can cover the middle of the field without taking away coverage. Defence wasnt the reason the dolphins collapsed in the end of the season. Blaming Fangio hurts the dolphins in the long run. Its was injury that did them in. Firing Fangio was a terrible decision.
