Near where I live, around 15 years ago, a kid died, beaten up to death by his alcoholic father. Parents of other children at school would often see the kid with bruises, and tried to get the school, police or child services involved, but none of them took action. It's only when the kid hadn't been in school for three days that the teachers started to look into it. Of course, the police and CPS were all like "Such a tragedy took us by surprise and shock", and the other parents were mad AF because they did try to warn them, only to be dismissed each time.

They never should have...
