If you listen very closely, right after Tom screams "War Ensemble" and the music starts you can hear paramedics screaming for more neck braces asap.

@@judgebigmansion3492 I think those screeches like Angel of Death one hurt him badly and it seems like they were one of the reasons because of which Tom sometimes ripped off his voice. Btw my favourite version of Chemical Warfare and Angel of Death is from Voodoo, it brings original albums atmosphere.

That has to be the calmest crowd I've ever seen at a Slayer show.
It was a pretty mixed crowd. I think a lot of them were only there because they wanted to save a spot for Outkast who were coming up next.

Tom's vocals have gotten so much more powerful since he stopped headbanging. It sucks that he fucked his neck up and I do miss the energy onstage, but it results in a better performance.
+keefriff99 Who knows, maybe he took a cue from Lemmy... or maybe he practices yoga before every show, who knows? I concur he does sound better than ever, interesting to hear his acquired slight Texas drawl when he talks, though. One thing I have to credit him for, he's always been a pretty good with enunciating the lyrics, despite the speed. It's a rare trait at the tempo of maybe 80% of their songs.
kerry king have been headbanging non-stop in every show they made for more than 30 years haha Isn´t enough for you that energy? haha for me it is. Apart from this, I prefer this Tom, is more powerful
Except for Disciple. He sings that one an octave lower live.
It results in a better VOCAL performance. Headbanging Tom was iconic.
@keefriff99 & those of you who made the four comments prior to mine:... You guys do know that Tom NEVER (not in any years past, either) did do any headbanging simultaneously while vocalizing into the mic, right? Only during non-lyrical sections of the songs. So it didn't affect In any way/ lower the quality of his vocals, nor did it enhance his vocals when he quit headbanging.
This show however, the sound techs have his microphone set with much more reverb (echo) than usual. THAT's why Tom's voice sounds so powerful. It"s the stage & sound crew! NOT bc he doesn't headbang anymore..smh

I was there at the VERY front. I could hardly breathe. I'll never forget how intense that was. Loudest thing i've ever heard lol. And my dad is a drummer so I grew up around live music.

Thanks so much for sharing this. 'Great live feel to the recording, too. Hearing some of these songs (titles unknown to me) takes me back to the days when I just discovered Slayer on a radio show called 'Metalshop' in Minneapolis. I'd sneak my dad's conference tape recorder, set it up near my clock radio, stay up as late as I could stand to, listening for a crunchy new riff to make me scramble for the 'RECORD' button. I bootlegged a lot of songs and weaned myself onto learning about Voivod, Slayer, Venom, Overkill and a slew of others. Finally, in maybe '93-'94 I finally saw them live. I was unfortunately knocked over, despite NOT EVEN being in the moshpit. Yet my overriding memories are watching Tom Araya, grinning ear-to-ear for most if not all of the show, screaming about death, dying, murder, etc. It was awesome!

The first time I saw Slayer was in 1985 at City Gardens in Trenton, NJ (Overkill opened for them) I wouldn't get back to see them again until this show, at Voodoo.

No shit about that, I was going to say the same thing. The sound guy was on top form for Rock am ring 2005! Toms had really great tone that can be heard...clearly! I've never heard his bass while at a concert and I've been to 10 or so shows over the decades.
The rock am ring 2010 mix was awful you can only hear tom's bass

He isn't evil man, he is really really kind and nice. I've met him, we would go on talking about bass and vocals (I'm at the same position as Tom in my band, bass and lead vocs) and he was a really cool and nice guy

Gary Holt and Exodus created Bonded By Blood when I was eleven and listening to Piranha.......I was a metal junkie hard core.I bought any and all albums that were distributed by Century Media , Nuclear Blast ,Earache and Road Runner.I never listened to anything that wasn't thrashing metal,TRUE METAL.I was surprised when I found out that Holt did the solo for one of Hypocrisy on one of their albums.

i love slayer, but the sound in this show is horrible
most of their pro shot shows have a sad low quality sound, now whether the real sound was fine or not it's something up to guitar geeks who were there to judge and tell!! But what I hear now is shitty! Their early and mid 90s bootlegs were awesome though!
i saw them two times, 2008 in munich and 2010 in leipzig (germany) both shows where also bad mixed

FINALLY!... THAT was (@1:04:40) the best opening scream for Angel Of Death I've heard out of Tom in quite a very long time! It had gotten to a point where I thought he really just didn't give a shit anymore HOW that iconic scream sounds live. I've heard him butcher & brutalize that scream so many times now over the last 15 - 20 years or so, that I don't even eagerly anticipate it anymore except on the studio recording. I didn't think he'd EVER do it well again. Those days were OVER , I thought. I guess he still had one left in him.
