Cannibal Corpse tracks drums and sets their guitar tones at Sonic Ranch Studios with producer Erik Rutan. All footage was shot by the band.
Back problems suck. They rule my life sometimes. Seeing Cannibal Corpse get old and still destroy in the studio and live pumps me up. BRUTAL FOR LIFE!!!
I know his pain. This happened to me two years ago
Does he still have the same issues or did he manage to get it sorted? Or surgery? Cause he still sounds amazing in 2023.
Now I know why it's called torture, because Paul got tortured while recording lol.
i kinda feel bad for him. Hes actually a great drummer. His work on early CC albums and their newest is pretty killer. He does simple stuff but it fits the band perfectly which is what makes him good. Some of the patterns on TOTM are pretty tech at times. Plus he pretty much innovated Bomb Blasting technique (16th note double bass drums on top of blasting). He is a staple DM drummer hate to see him struggle because of age and physical issues
4:16 he's on the Strangulation Chair
the Spine Spliter had arrived... ;) \,,/
Good thing he's doing a lot better physically nowadays.
@@Headbanger9000 Bolt Thrower had bomb blasts before Cannibal Corpse even released their first album
dude, if theres anybody in a metal band who isn't arrogant, its Alex Webster. I love how some people think just because you're really awesome at something you must be arrogant. He is the dude who stays 3 hours hanging out after a show bs'ing with fans and giving bass clinics. seen them 3 times and he's always been that way.
Met him earlier this month after a show and he was so chill
i have hung out with all kinds of bands and from what i noticed, the arrogant musicians are on the low end of the talent scale and musical artists who have mastered their craft are definitely the most humble.
But would he let u play his bass?
It's actually most not arrogant people in the metal industry generally
@@donjuan8748 true....my experience too. We have everybodys diva Lars Ulrich
Make these for each album, cant stop watching them!
+Buster Odeholm The same here !
I tell ya man, the included DVD on the Evisceration Plague is what got me sold on the band. I didn't like the band at the time but I took a chance with that album on a random whim, and that DVD made everything more personal, felt like I got close to the band. That album was top notch overall, and made rethink the genre which I overlooked. Since then, I have bought all of CC albums.
I had the dvd with wretched Spawn and fucking wacth em ever since lol..the making of wretched spawn was bad ass!!!!
Me too!!! Cannibal Corpse rule since they played their first note together, starting back in the day with Bob Rusay, Mr. Barnes and Jack Owen! And fuckin worship the Corpsegrinder, he had the balls to stand the Barnes legacy, and that is really hard to beat when it comes to Death Metal Vocals! Because its truly insane! I mean FORCE FED BROKEN GLASS, fuckin awsome! Corpsegrinder is awsome too, i recommend listening to Monstrosity, imperial doom, corpsegrinders first album.Cannibal Corpse is like SLAYER, but for Death Metal! hellyeah🤘🤘🤘My Fave is THE BLEEDING, fuckin great Album!!!
☯️
back thrown out = metal
Cannthony Corpstano
Near death metal :)
Especially if it's the singer
DEATHony METALtano here
didn't you sort of not really like this band?
Everything you need to know about this video
0:20 Eric gets in trouble before they even start
1:20 The real deal
2:09 DU DU CHUUU
3:07 Paul is too old for this
4:16 Paul is definitely too old for this
5:06 Pat Pro-tools O'Brien
6:00 ONE TAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
8:17 SOOO HEAVYYY
9:28 Picking clarity
When people say death metal takes no talent 1:50, 2:54, 5:29 9:01, 10:35
Kathy Dow you know what is the name of the song???? 1:57
You forgot Berserkerwicz
The songs followed home then killed
I think the average hater could learn a lot from metalheads. We’re subjected to music we can’t stand every day. At work, on TV, coworker’s computer speakers, etc. but the second they hear death growls, “Turn this horrible crap off! It’s just screaming and muddy guitar diarrhea.” Clearly people don’t know how hard it is to palm mute and keep feedback and hum under control with that much gain. But I digress.
9:01 made me splooge
Damn it, they are just so fucking good. it's videos like these that really make me notice just how frantic and precise their music is.
3:00 I feel so sorry for Paul and his bad back. I have a feeling the dude plays in pain every night of every show of every tour. His face pretty much tells us this. He looks to always be in pain. But plays through it. No fun.
I don't think its a pain issue more than just struggling to play fast and keep up due to his bad posture, technique and age, stuff like that, this here looks like an ad
he already changed his technique and posture, he no longer will have back pain if he keep it that way ...
he is a smart guy...
it must be amazing to work with these guys. they are without a doubt the most clutch musicians.
9:11 holy fuck...
His partner is one lucky woman xD
ChernovFan100 hahahahahaha
Is awesome to see all these death metal legends in the same room working together!
"As deep as the knife will go" is one of my favourite songs from this album. Paul killed his performance in it. in ONE take. Bravo!
Love Erik rutan killer producer and funny guy. Love his work no matter what it is
Pat, my favorite guitarist of all time. Greetings from belgium
I miss Pat O’Brien. He was a fu..cking maniac and it came through in his musicianship.
He still plays death metal music just not in cannibal corpse anymore
@@xymoriintus Really? which band or project?
@@fcamiola he played or plays live in Exhorder. At least he did at Marland death fest. They should boot Rob and get Pat back in.
True. The edge of insanity. I miss him in CC too.
Pat Pro Tool O' Brian, he's the real fucking deal!
2019 and I'm still listening with all their songs love this guys, they're cool.
damn back problems during drumming... all the legends are aging :(
The need to make a drum set that's inclined at a 45°angle so u can recline while u play..no back problems..
Pete Sandoval ex morbid angel, bad back put him out of morbid angel for 5 years and eventually quit. Recovered and reformed terrorizer
My all time favorite band. I feel bad for Paul with his back problems. I deal with back issues myself and I know that position he's in while playing especially blast beats and other beats where you have to tense your body kinda awkwardly to actually pull the beat off, have got to hurt some. At least, he has the comfort of knowing that instead of working construction or in a fucking restaurant or other life sapping shit job, he will be going out to tour the world and play brutal metal for rabid, devoted fans. Alex Webster is the main mastermind behind cc and he deserves a lot credit and props for his creative genious when it comes to this type of music.
I love watching these guys in the studio. I watched all 6 parts of Ev plague like 10x each.
Legends to another, Pat & Rutan 🤘
Nice! Felt like I was there with the boys. Thanks for the upload.
2:57 no shit he threw out his back. look how he's sitting. so over extended and why are his drums so angled? that must make it difficult. obviously its his preference but thats probably why that happened.
probably to help out with recording.
nolymoly yeah, his technique is what causes the problems. he always has sat too low and bent over. he's a cool drummer though, very important to the cannibal sound.
nolymoly The farther the drums are from each other the less muddied up the recording gets.
Cause he slouches which is bad
His thighs seem long as shit, think he has to sit too far away
Fucking love these guys. They've been doing this shit forever. Im stoked for a new release!
I love watching in the studio videos of my favorite bands just seeing them having fun making awesome music :)
It's like drummer has been held at gunpoint for months and wants to run away.
I wish CC had some newer video content in 2020. Maybe resting from non stop touring
Would be killer to have Alex on RUclips weekly or monthly. Hope you guys are doing good
Lots of people like there music and yes ive met them plenty of times they are nice dudes!!
These videos are amazing, more bands should do these making of videos
Pat cannot be stopped
I love that these gentlemen are such excellent people. True ambassadors for metal.
Is awesome to see Paul wearing that Solstice tshirt! Solstice is an amazing band!
I am so excited to get this album, keep doing your thing guys!
"One Take" Bazurkiewicz, mááán.
dude, did you see that bass playin! what a boss
@eastwoodize That'll be in the next videos. Patience!
new albums gonna be amazing corpse is one of the very few bands that improves with every albuym
Awesome. Can't wait for the next video. Hail Cannibal Corpse.
Sounds amazing! The sound is massive. Awesome work guys...
Awesome drumming and guitar tones and riffs
Paul is wearing a back brace. Thomas Haake looks like Ian McKellen.
Yet Cannibal Corpse and Meshuggah are constantly putting out masterpieces while the rest of the metal world drags ass behind them.
It goes without saying how much talent makes up this band.
Got to love Paul's "drummer face" like is about to die lol. My fav drummer ever. This little behind the scenes videos are gold. They pulled off perhaps their best album.
I NEED THIS ALBUM NOW! Cheers to one of the greatest deathmetal bands ever!
"Wow, listen to the tightness of that pickin' on Pat, man, he's badass!"
Jesus! Pat is an unbelievable guitar player!
I'm very excited for As Deep As the Knife Will Go. Just that bit I could hear with Paul's drumming was so groove-able yet as brutal as ever! Very catchy, especially being death metal. This is part of why Cannibal Corpse will always be my favorite death metal band.
I fucking love this album. Favorite band.
I dont even have to be curious on how this album will be.
CC delivers everytime.
Can't wait till march...hail Cannibal Corpse \m/
I can't fucking wait.
Pat is the man.
9:06 That blew me away!
That riff at the end that Pat is playing for the song "Torn Through" its so epic, i can't wait to hear the full song :o
Pat always looks so fucking pissed
9:03 master of the bass, awesome slap
9:03
2:56 to 5:03 + 5:30 to 6:03 = Inversion Table Ad.
So much win.
omfg... I really love the cover artwork!! Vince Locke is the man!
can´t wait for the new album!!!!!!!
Hail Cannibal Corpse!!
EPIC I miss the good old days metal for life
Am i ready to be blown away a twelfth time!?
NO! Can't wait until next video.
damn I'm still waiting for the next episode.. I come to this channel regularly.
Thanks for the video. It's good to see some discussion on amps being blended.
that new song is a fucking explosion. Cannibal Corpse will never let the fans down. i really appreciate that shit
Kick ass guitar tone!
love these guys
fucking sickass album luv cc and they are all awesome guys
Erik Rutan is an awesome person...I met him before.
Mark V and a Triple Rec…… crushing
Now that "As deep as the knife will go" is stuck in my head I can honestly sleep peacefully.
DE LO MEJOR QUE UNA BANDA MUESTRE A SUS FANS COMO SE HACE UN TRABAJO DE UN DISCO Y LOS MOMENTOS DE TENCION Y ESFUERZO ,,,LO MEJOR PARA MI BANDA FAVORITA CANNIBAL CORPSE
Yeah!
keep death metal alive!
@drumsistkrieg1349 yeah he's been with Cannibal Corpse since the beginning, him and Webster..
@warforgeqt Agreed, Pat is still a highly underrated player in the metal world, but Rob is even more underrated, people gotta show the love for Rob. \m/
9:06 OMG!! I just loved that, he might be the best musician in the band
SOLSTICE! Great early 90's death metal, give them a listen if you haven't. Looking forward to new Cannibal!
Best quality videos on RUclips.
goddamn, Pat is a fucking monster of a player.
Seeing him play live is insane.
"Any beginner jazz man can play this" funniest goddamn thing I have read today.
They got Erik Rutan again. love this album already. He produced the last two tight as fuck.
I'm not going to eat until the next video is posted.
These guys look like the friendly hippies who work at the music store. I wouldn't have thought they were cannibal corpse.
That bass created and destroyed many dimensions
Those riffs from Torn Through are fucking awesome.
Rob "The Total Package" Barrett
Rutan don't let people get away with SHIT. He makes me want to be a better musician and push myself all the time.
1) SOUNDS FUCKING SICK!!!
2) Holy Hell, Rob SHAVED!
3) Filming themselves: Metal AND cost efficient!
This is probably their best album ever!
Fuck. Didn't expect the old masters to still have it in them, sounds amazing! Pre-ordered.
Back breaking work
Man this is such an amazing comment section ♡ \m/ This type of videos also add a layer of coolness to the tracks themselves because of all those small insights (i.e. the drumtrack being done in 1 take or having his back thrown out lol)
as deep as the knife will go sounds brutal. those vocal rhythms are sick
That was fckin insane I fckin love cannibal corpse
Love this shit\! They were an awesome live band!
@Ebolacrash yeah it is :) the song is called Demented Aggression!
@jhall006 No. They recorded half the album at Sonic Ranch and the other half at Mana. But Erik was with them at both.
This album kickass
Respect guys!
songs are catchy ass hell
