    • @wlot28

      easily. If the screenplays were written more cohesively with these darker tones in mind and were more compelling for that reason, these films would be a whole lot better from a general quality standpoint.

The boring aliens that were so unimportant that I don't care to remember who they were. How many Marvel movies have there been and Thanos (the big badie of that universe) has yet to do anything but sit in his chair? Yet you are complaining when DC does the same thing?

      @brajeshsingh2391 5 лет назад +106

      yes he was. it was a bad movie. in fact it was not a movie at all. DC was desperate to kind of match the MCU and hence put all characters in a movie without any reference. There was no background. the plot seemed ludicrous and the acting was bad. So was the CGI. Marvel built their universe brick by brick starting with Iron Man and then introduced new characters and plots. It took them a decade and they were successful. DC never had any start. They never built up their universe. Superman never quite took off. Wonder woman was successful but there was not enough development or progression of her story to lead into a ensemble movie. And Batman, the series developed by Christopher Nolan were made with a completely different approach to allow Batman to fit into extended superhero universe. They never had the building blocks to launch this kind of a movie. They had lost the first movers advantage to MC. I think we have seen enough super hero movies to be frank. Let see some good old time entertainment. In any case justice League will have a really hard time coming back.

      @thespideystudios Well it's because it's a Marvel superhero movie. Back then superhero movies were seen as terrible and silly but this movie (as well as Iron Man) basically changed the whole game and it showed that superhero movie can be true to the comics while still being a good movie

    • @artcs

      PlotlinePlus - I have to agree. WB, Fox, Sony. They just don't "get" comics and the movie going public. For all of Marvels "shortcomings", they are a comic company and not only have a handle on the marerial, but are movie fans as well. Aside from a handful of movies, the big Hollywood studios just put out crap. I mean, just look at their non comic book movies, shitty remakes and sequels that the public didn't ask for or want. As a matter of fact, they have to copy Marvel Studios now just to try to stay relevant.

    • @PlotlinePlus
      @PlotlinePlus 6 лет назад +11

      I'm not apposed to a shorter movie. But these executives shouldn't expect to cram all this shit into these movies and somehow expect a tight 100-120 minute flick. It's not fair. I don't even necessarily like these movies, but I can smell the stink of corporate meddling.
      They have just dug themselves into so deep a hole with this mess. Man of Steel was... What it was. I don't think it was a part of a grand plan. And while I may not care for it, good on Zach Snyder for making the movie he wanted to make. But... I guess once WB wanted to make their Cinematic Universe, they realized they couldn't pull a Sony and reboot Spiderman within the span of five years. So they used that tone as the baseline and ran with it. Then when they keep making more and more decisions that make no sense, they're desperately trying to play catchup before the fad runs it's course and... here we are.
      I don't blame anyone for the wobbly quality of these films. And I'm likely gonna go check this one out... eventually. But I am VERY jaded toward the Hollywood machine. And these films are partly to blame.
      Well... And anything by Illumination Animation... And Sony Pictures... And you know what... I'm just... gonna... stick to the internet.

    I honestly consider most superhero films disposable, and this is coming from a guy who loves the genre and is a huge fan of these characters. Most Marvel films in my opinion are a one-watch extravaganza and I forget about it soon after, it doesn't mean they're bad movies, it just means they're ok. I feel these films lack personality and heart to them. The Dark Knight stands out because it was made by a director who wanted to make a REAL movie, that so happens to be in the Batman universe. These films are approached in a way that seems to get seats in theaters without really looking to offend or provoke any emotions rather than action porn excitement and weird use of comedy from minute 1. I really hope the genre changes, and becomes something more than just and exciting CGI/comedy fest.

      Yea, I'm really not happy with that 'executive' decision by the suits to cut who knows how much story and art out of the film for reasons having nothing to do with art and everything to do with the financials. As if the movie will make more money by being a short run also ran as opposed to a major hit with legs. I may very well skip the theatrical release and wait on the 'actual real' movie that will inevitably come out with later that includes everything that was intended to be part of the movie. I expect that might well indeed be three hours, or even more if they can make the pacing work.

If they have given us a better setup for joker maybe it could have clicked. But nope. Suicide squad will always be the worse DCEU film for me

      Just saying Marvel wont stop their course they have like the younger generations of the originals like iron man and Thor and the rest and also they still got black panther movies, Spider-man and Doctor Strange. I understand what your saying but Marvel will still be running for a while. DC does need to slow down and introduce their characters but i just think that they think we all know them because of comic books, other movies/Tv and video games but there are some people that are just new and are seeing them for the first time.

      Varad Raigaonkar No. You don't understand anyof the criticisms people levy against DC movies. They struggle with tonal balance and character development. Chris wasn't even saying he thought the movie should be darker, he said the characters needed to be more developed to add a sense of depth and realism to the film. That's not the same as making things dark. Reality isn't just dark and gritty. Reality has all sorts of emotional ups and downs, but most importantly, real people have reasonable motivations, and that can't be developed for 6 characters in a less than 2 hour film.

    I think what film makers don't get is how humorous The Dark Knight and Wonder Woman are. That in those movies, for every dark scene, there's a bright one. The reason the dark tone works is because of its contrast to the light tone. BvS suffers from being too dark and dreary but that's only half a bad thing

    I don't think DC's recent failure to please the audience in general came from the audiences wanting more 'fluff'. The seriousness and philosophical dilemmas seen in each hero's life is what makes DC special and that's what ppl expect--a high-quality movie with an awesome scenario depicting JL's serious yet charismatic qualities. It's just that whoever's in charge cannot seem to write a good scenario, probably due to all the noise in the production process. Warner is the ultimate villain in DC universe.

      @IndecisiveJR 6 лет назад +7

      The 80's Wolf People wanted these heroes to be heroes with actual levity. Say what you want about avengers but at least with avengers I got the sense the city was populated and civilians were in danger and as shown in Civil War many did actually die. Justice League is so fluffy it makes avengers look like the Dark Knight. No one ever feels in danger to the point the city is empty. People wanted the dceu to actually have levity when it’s needed or fits said character not rid the darkness all together. That’s why WB failed they changed things but not to make these characters authentic to the comics or what true fans of these characters wanted. Batman needs to stay brooding (just don’t Kill) Superman needs to be how he’s portrayed in Justice League, Wonder Woman needs to stay the same but give her more to do, don’t have Flash be mainly comic relief cause he acts more like Wally than Barry in Justice League, have Aquaman be less of a “bro” stereotype and make him a serious noble king. And Cyborg can stay pretty much the same but actually have him say “Booyah” with more enthusiasm. Also the jokes and even multiple fight scenes and the way everything is executed feels like an exact copy and paste of marvel’s formula which makes this film not even fit within the world dc has set up beforehand. People do want serious movies Logan being the most recent example but even Logan had moments of Levity and moments to let the audience just enjoy our main characters personal life and/or those he cares for.

    Have we become too saturated with comic book movies that they need to be kind of disposable to be good?
    Hell nah. Aside from the super serious Nolan-Batman trilogy, Spiderman homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy 1&2, the Winter Soldier, are all very good movies that hold up down the road. (As will Thor Ragnarok most likely.) All of those movies have extremely different tones. Winter Soldier being extremely serious for a marvel movie, and the Nolan-Batman trilogy, are very real and grounded; whereas GG1&2 are stories featuring a talking raccoon that is best buddies with a talking tree, and Spiderman has about as much teen angst as high school.
    DCEU's problem is how melodramatic they are without telling a coherent story (with the exception of Wonder Woman). Snyder had the chance to tell one of the best coming of age stories in comic book history and the he spent the most of the screen time just having Superman do crazy shit, follow Lois Lane around, and then have Superman and Zod do more crazy shit. Batman vs Superman was the same thing. You had the chance to tell a story about the moral conflicts between a morally grey superhero and a nearly god-like superhero, and he completely left that theme out of the last 1/3 of the movie.
    Good comic book movies have nothing to do with tone, it's just the writer and director sitting down and committing to telling a good story.

And that's where the DCEU falls flat. They try to achieve so much but forget the necessity of telling a good story.

So I think it's because you can pause the movie at home and go take a shit, but in the theater that's different because it's a public place.
      some ppl want food, some want to use the bathroom, some DON'T...so it would fuck up their immersion if they have to stop the movie so ppl can take a break, and a lot of ppl don't like having to leave and miss large chunks of the movie.

      There's actually a lot of people with that mindset, the problem is that the retards who insist on fandom rivalries have louder voices.

      BTW that has *nothing* to do with him trying to be "special" or "individual", calling them 'snowflake', you know? Oh you don't - *racism is RACISM - and it SUCKS!* - and viewed as such if it's taken out of context or not addressed to somebody in close relations with you / who knows it's supposed to be light/endearing. So... STFU & STFD.

      so... you can't say "chinese" now? that's "racist" now?. stupid sjws being offended by everything.
      by the way, there's something weird going on in china about movies these days: it seems they missed out on the last 30 or 40 years, so they don't know better and love ANY movie with action, special effects or that panders to them showing some scenes in china.
      and they are billions so movie studios want that audience.

      TaGuchiMedd i seriously disagree. Homecoming wasn’t very good. All the high school stuff sucked ass, and even the spidey stuff was pretty boring

    • @supersmear3696
      @supersmear3696 6 лет назад +54

      Sean Pinette it depends what you want in a superhero movie. See I don’t mind the seriousness of some superhero movie, such as, Logan and The Dark Knight (both one of my favourite movies of all time) yet there are movies like this, suicide squad and man of Steele all trying to be serious and it ends up being laughable and cringey. Spider-Man shouldn’t be serious, so I don’t understand why they make characters such as cyborg, the flash and fucking aqua man so fucking dark and serious

    • @supersmear3696
      @supersmear3696 6 лет назад +27

      Sean Pinette and the thing with homecoming being boring may be because they didn’t depend on all the fight scenes and action they wanted to focus more on the Peter Parker aspect and how he has to cope with being Spider-Man and Peter

    • @Jonman7502
      @Jonman7502 6 лет назад +27

      I strongly agree, homecoming was pretty good imo. Spider man is pretty like able and is a character with a lot of flaws. It's going to be such a difference when he is older and more stronger and mature.

    Ugh. Why the 2-hour limit? I enjoy the lengthy films. I get more story for the money. Hopefully, the director's cut will include the scenes that will help the movie seem less-rushed like BvS's ultimate edition did for me (although I don't understand why they don't just make the theatrical release like a director's cut).

      You have Joss Whedon to thank for that. He cut it down to its 1 hr. 59 min. runtime. Of course this movie has pacing issues and feels rushed. It's a fucking 1 hr. 59 min. movie!! What the actual fuck? This movie was originally close to 3 hrs. That's a lot Whedon cut out from this film.
