The experience takes place in the Galactic Federation Prisoner Teleport Center. Guests have been recruited by The Grand Councilwoman to be guards for the Galactic Federation. After being taught the basic procedures of guard duty and the classification of prisoner hazard levels by Sergeant 90210 (and a brief, but comical, reprisal of Skippy from The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter), Captain Gantu gives an alert of a Level 3 prisoner being beamed to the Center. Guests are then instructed by Pleakley over a communicator to proceed to the Level 3 prisoner teleportation chamber.
After being seated, shoulder restraints come down onto the guests' shoulders (to not confuse the prisoner's DNA with the guests') and the prisoner is then beamed into the chamber via a large plume of smoke and is revealed to be Stitch. After a brief period of puzzled talking by Gantu and his two assistants, Stitch uses the flaws of the armed laser cannons (the cannons follow and destroy any genetic material, including saliva) and disables all power to escape, causing mass chaos in the crowd. During this period, hydraulic pumps and small hoses in the shoulder restraints make it seem as if Stitch is jumping on guests' shoulders and tickling their heads. Also, Stitch devours a rancid chili dog and burps - accompanied by a foul smell effect being released into the chamber - and destroys a cell phone, once again reminding the guests of the rules about eating or drinking in the theater or the use of electronic devices in the theater. When the power comes back on, the laser cannons continue their attempt to bring Stitch down. Again using the cannons' fatal flaws, he manages to fire the laser cannons into the crowd. Shortly after using the diversion, he escapes to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida (pronounced by the characters as Flor-ee-da). Cameras capture him going into Cinderella Castle (where Stitch gets into the castle by claiming to be Prince Charming from Cinderella. Stitch crawls in and says, "Oh Cinderella, your prince is here." Off-camera, Cinderella realizes that Stitch is not her prince, and kicks him out of the chamber).

Disney continuously screws up with the Lilo and Stitch franchise. They don't respect it, but it has so many fans. That 1st movie I will never forget, and is still one of my favorite things to come from Disney.
Still true to this day knowing they’re making a live action movie now…
I love this attraction! When I went on it as a small child it made me believe that Stitch was actually real. Heheh it's one of those rides that intreges the imagination.
When Stich escapes and you sitting in the back row his arms touch you and it feels so weird
I sat in the front
Leilani Zenquiz same i was like aw gawd
Sometimes it hurts but also he sneese on you SORRY IF I SPELLED THAT WRONG BUT IM NOT GOOD AT ENGLISH im mexican lol
Catsrule XD :3 I was in the back. I thought that was just his fur brushing by.
Majo Murguia it's sneezes :) and that wasn't a bad sentence! I'm impressed.
Skippy's been trapped in that tube for over 20 years now. When will he be free???
TheSuperMolman free stich!!!!!!!
nano ramirez it's stitch
Apparently in 2018

Stitch's burp smelt like chili cheese Fritos when I was on that ride.
+Krystalized Fursuits Well it was last summer when I was on the ride.
+Krystalized Fursuits I went 2 years ago and it smelled like old pizza
+Yeti Man maybe they just mixed up the stench. We all have our own since of smells.
is that pleasant smell?
adder birdo Not at all, it was terrible. Can you imagine when stitch ate some garbage pizza with a side of chili cheese Fritos and burped the stench out? EWW
This "ride" was actually one of the coolest I've ever been to. It felt so real!
the first time I went on that ride was when I was like 5 and I freaked out I was so scared I cried and
Me too when I was 7
Cora Miller me too
me too XD I believe I was the same age
Cora Miller I was 13 and still scared
I went when I was 8 and I freaked out, screaming and crying 😂😂😂😂😂
To be honest, I have a love it-hate it relationship with this attraction. The sets, special effects (although nothing compared to Spiderman at Universal), the ambience, and the animatronics were great.
However, the complaints about this attraction are justified. The smell is pretty bad, the gross-out humor can be cringeworthy, and it can be relatively scary to some kids. The only thing I can disagree about the complaints is that the harness "smashes them throughout the entire show", that only happens once or twice during the show.
same for me, when I went on it when I was around 6/7 and 8 I was very scared to death, I got injured 2 times o the ride because of my baby fat made it head to sit and I wasn't tall enough so I hit my head
I'm very sorry for what happened to you
When I rode that at the part where Stitch burped, I got extremely scared.
I have never been on this version and only back when it was Alien Encounter which was Awesone, but too scary for small children.
That animatronic is really impressive!
It is it’s sad how it was used
@@jackstevens3123yeah it was used for scrap parts
This ride really can't be successful
When it was ExtraTERRORestrial it was taken down because it was too terrifying, Now it's taken down because it's too boring
like come on
SAD-ist Its literally the same as the alien ride, but reskinned as Stitch. Honestly the Stitch one terrified me enough as it is so I’m really glad I never went on the alien one lol.
Everyone: The Stitch ride sucked!
Me: Yeah! It was the worst! *(Nervous laughter)*
Stitch No you were the greatest trust me

Elvin Garcia I mean that one did sound really cool when I looked it up. It just sucks that they’re getting rid of the stitch ride. I wouldn’t even be that mad if they made a different ride using the same animatronic characters. But if you didn’t know, instead of archiving the animatronics like they usually would, they just destroyed them, which on Disney’s part was a terrible idea because those characters were fan favorites AND cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars each. Just bums me out dude
this is my favorite ride.. but i understand how others may dislike it. Since i know the tricks for the seating so it won't be uncomfortable, i enjoyed my times. it's sad to see it go.. i remember riding it ten times the first time i went to the ride. i love it.
Actually it's because of what it once was which caused childhood trauma.
Gabysaurus I agreeeeeeee I always thought I was weird because I LOVED that ride so much but know it’s dead and I get sad whenever I think of it😢
I enjoyed that ride
Ahhh I remember going on this ride. I started crying when stitch jumped on my chair
same
When they eventually decide to scrap Stitch, they should really move Skippy to a place with more visibility. Like as a part of Cosmic Ray's ensemble or something
I don't know why, but when the kid says "hey give me back my chili dog, I remember stitch saying "My chili dog!"
You know how it says to keep your feet on the ground, who else lifted them up cause they didn't want stitch touching them??? 😂
rorey sotela Just stop.
@rorey sotela Ew
rorey sotela 😑
rorey sotela STOP UR GOING TOO FAR
YES OMG LMAO I CRIED
This is my VERY absolute most FAVORITE Disney ride EVER
Thank god this is closing down. Stitch deserves a much better attraction than to be Alien Encounter when it isn't.
This brought back a flashback..... I cried my eyes out after that ride
I mean I LOVE the character of stitch and his movie, but i remember i went to go ride this with my mom and we thought it was not all that great. It was like scary even though it didn't feel like a ride that should be scary and it's just kinda boring just sitting there and letting random things poke you
Mads97415 poke poke poke 😂 hehe
I'm so happy I'm going on to Disney on New Years, so I can ride this again before stitch is gone. I love this ride.
This ride's days are numbered
Brer Oswald why?
Asmr Lucas It's been put on a seasonal schedule, which means it's only open on select days until it is closed permanently.
Brer Oswald that's bad, such a fun ride
Asmr Lucas Ehhhhhh its generally accepted as an unpopular unenjoyable experience. I did not have a good time when I went on it. I trust the imagineers to make a better attraction in its place.
Brer Oswald every attaction on Disney are fun, ... well not animal kingdom but😂😂 don't you feel sad when something on Disney closes??
That ride scared me as a kid.
I cried and promised to never ride it again.
A month ago I went to Disney world and decided to ride it again but it was closed-
A lot of people here talking about how this was really scary to them when they were kids. I personally loved it when I was a small bab, but as it turns out, the reason this ride may have been scary to a lot of people was that fun fact!: It was built on the same "set" as "Alien Encounter", which was originally going to based on the Alien franchise, but was changed to an original design and plot. George Lucas even worked on the team to create the original ride. It was then changed to Stitch's Great Escape for the release of Lilo & Stitch. If you think this was scary, the archives of the earlier versions have people freaking the hell out, and the animatronics going on are actually pretty unsettling and amazing.
All in all, I'm going to miss this ride. This really took me back, so thank you for archiving it.
I have only been on Alien Encounter and miss that ride.
It truly felt like you were trapped in the dark as a terrifying creature was lurking over your shoulder and people were attacked and killed around you.

RIP Skippy, you never got out of that tube.
awww the littlekid said it was scary
At least he didn’t experience ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter
Wait why don't people like this ride? When they said they were closing it a bunch of people were like "finally, good riddance"
Christopher Lara before this came in there was a scary ass show aka alien encounter
That's why people want that back instead of this
It was scary and awesome
Christopher Lara I like this show, I don't know why though.. XD
Christopher Lara people don't like being trapped in uncomfortable seats in the dark while "chili dogs" are sprayed in your face.
The biggest problem people have with this is that it was a super quick fix for a fairly problematic show that backfired completely and worked against everything they were trying to fix.
The original incarnation of the show, Alien Encounter, was a cult favorite because it was totally different from anything Disney had made before: an exciting and intense show that was designed exclusively for the older crowds. Alien Encounter followed a similar premise with this attraction, except instead of Stitch, it featured a terrifying, bloodthirsty menace. It was legitimately intense and frightening, much to the dismay of inattentive parents that exposed their (often very young) kids to it. After less than a decade of operation and endless complaints from irresponsible parents, it closed to be transformed into Stitch.
The biggest issue with Stitch was that they tried to take a horror show and make it something out of a family friendly comedy, while reusing all the same elements that made the original show scary. They toned down the show, but the problem wasn't the intensity: it was the very nature of how the show operates. The result is that you now have a show that tries to be for adults and kids, but is still too reminiscent of Alien for some audiences, and far too crude and juvenile for anyone that isn't bawling in terror. It tried to expand its target audience, but inadvertently alienated almost all of it.
So yeah, good riddance.
they spray chili dogs?
I am excited to see what they do with a Wreck It Ralph themed ride. I remember hearing horror stories from so many about when this attraction was called Alien Encounter. I heard that one was considered the most terrifying Disney attraction in Disney history. People still talk about the nightmares they had as children from that show. It was changed to Stitch's Great Escape to make it more Disney related. Some may have had a bit of scare in their childhood, but know that its predecessor made this attraction look like sunshine and rainbows.
Alien Encounter's uncharacteristic intensity is part of what made it so fondly remembered. It was a weird concept, but it was executed pretty well. The big problem with this was that it tried to recycle Alien Encounter's core "scary" elements in a way that was supposed to be more family friendly when it was never designed to be family friendly (imagine if you had to produce a G rated cut of Alien, and you'd have an idea of what they were forced to do here).
Completely makes sense for sure. Great point :)
I remember when it was the Trip to the Moon attraction.......Times they do change at Disney. And I'm all good with that......Out with the old and in with the new..It keeps us coming back every two years
Bad news for Stitch's Great Escape fans... Stitch's Great Escape will be closing in January 2019.
Disney has confirmed that Stitch's Great Escape will reopen one last time this December, to handle the crowds since the Speedway will be closed. Then in January 2019, it will be permanently closed and gutted out for a new Wreck-It Ralph ride.
The Wreck-It Ralph ride will have you go through the Sugar Rush game and race with all the characters. It is planned to open in fall of 2022.
No way, they can't get of this ride. This ride is so awesome. I wish Disney would just keep this ride and just add Sugar Rush in another location.
Welp. They're getting rid of it mostly because...a lot of people absolutely hate this ride because of the Chilli Dog thing and the harnesses
False, this is literally the worst ride ever. It's not entertaining, its annoying. #bringbackthealien
I don't think that's right. The theatre isn't set up for a 3D ride if anything they're doing another escape show #pleasepleasepleasebringbackthealien
the current theater wouldn't be used, it's all gonna be dismantled
This was kinda cool when I went on it, but man I really wish they kept the Alien Encounter. From what I heard, it was much more frightening than this and way cooler. Too bad I will never be able to experience it. 😔
For the people who haven't been on this ride: you're literally STRAPPED in the seats, I hated the ride because I felt like the prisoner!
That was so if someone panicked they wouldn't shut down the ride and ruin the experience lmao
It’s because it was designed to be like that.
Some say The Alien from the alien encounter attraction is still roaming around in stitch's great escape...
lol "Cinderella! Your Prince Is here!"
pretty sure I remember sobbing when the lights went out
THAT RIDE WAS SCARY AS HELL
The orginal Alien Encounter was absolutely terrifying.
I remember when I went on this ride, I thought I felt Stitch pull my hair while he was crawling/running around. My sis felt it too.
This ride scared me especially when the lights go off & Stitch is nowhere to be found
This ride scared the shit out of me when I went. I gave the most annoying sniffling the whole time
WAIT!!!
Does this ride use the same parts and everything as that ExtraTerrorestrial Alien Encounter ride they had in 1996??? That tube that Stitch is in, and the screens behind him look like the same ones that were used in that. Pretty neat.
yep, and the robot in the beginning was recycled from alien encounter too :)
When. Went on this ride I was so young I thought the spit was actual spit I was so upset but happy at the same time
I can definitely see the problems with this ride....but damn...that Stitch animatronic is pretty damn impressive for its size.
What’s the problem?
There are short kings to my friend.
I felt him on my shoulder, and he also tickled me!
how did he tickle you lol
Ah yes, the “kid-friendly” Alien Encounter.
I remember once going on this ride and having stitch burp RIGHT INSIDE MY MOUTH. I HAD BAD BREATH FOR DAYS.
This was just a re-skinning of the ExtraTERRORestrial: Alien Encounter. Fun fact in the planning stages of the original back in the 90's was to have the Xenomorph be the alien that escaped and ate the audience.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! THIS RIDE US CLOSING!?!?IT'S MY FAVORITE RIDE THERE!
Wait so your telling me that I can still get on the ride?
HELL YEA
If they make a live action of lilo and stitch which they are and if the movie does good it could have potential to bring back the ride
This ride is pretty damn amazing! Like the rest of the park, you have to check it out in real life!
I when I went to Disney world it was my family first ride when we heard there taking it away man I was sad we loved it 💯😭💙
MY EXPERIENCE:
OK, when I went on that ride when I was around 6 years old, I was absolutely terrified of every ride in Disney World. But, my mom made me go on this one.
So, after we got past the animatronic aliens, they strapped us into the seats, and im pretty sure my mom was glad I was away from her, because I was making the biggest scene in 1st Grade history. But, yeah. When I saw Stitch in that tube, I wanted to break out of that chair and run for it. When he spit on us, I actually got hit, and I wanted to have a heart-attack, because it felt all so real to me. I thought a REAL ALIEN had JUST SPIT ON ME at that moment. When the lights turned off, I picked up my legs, because I didn't want Stitch to freaking EAT MY LEGS. I was still crying, and when he went BEHIND us, I started to panic. When he went behind my seat, my mom said, "Look, sweetie! Stitch is saying 'don't cry! don't cry, sweetheart! oh please, don't cry! I love you!' ", but I wasn't taking ANYTHING from ANYONE. I just wanted to round-house kick Stitch in the face. But since I couldn't do that, I just started panicking. When he went away to my mom, I took a breath of relief. When he went above us on the ceiling, and that FREAKING LASER GUN CAME OUT I WAS SENT INTO HYSTERICS. When Stitch said "Missed me, missed me, now you gotta kiss me!" I admit I laughed a little. But when that video showed of Stitch making his way into Cinderella's castle, I began to calm down. When he licked the screen, I cringed.
Now, that i'm hearing about it closing down in 2018, that part of me from 1st Grade is saying, "YEAH! SERVES THEM RIGHT! I'm looking forward to that Sugar Rush Ride!", but this one part of me wants to go on that ride before it closes, because now that i'm all grown up, I want to be able to enjoy it and have fun, and not think of it as the scariest thing since The Exorcist.

Oml.
That's excactly what happened to me...Though i was 4...
(im being myself not Stitch ) same but i didnt panic, i was actually sad bc Stitch didnt like me :( and he was being mean, i was stupid
I love that ride/show i am sad it is closing
pixelated.candy now imagine if you actually went on the original ride alien encounter extra terrestrial.
If I ever went on this ride, even with the soft nature of the ride (and the crass nature of Stitch), I don't think I could handle it. I went to Disney World for the first time in my life in the summer of 2002 when I was 10 years old and went on this ride's predecessor X-Terror Alien Encounter (or something to that effect, I remember it was called X-Terror). I thought it would be a cool ride and when my family and I arrived to enter it, the attendant there said that it might be okay for me, but too scary for my younger sister (6 years old, at the time), so my dad and I entered the ride. As it was, it ended up being too scary me my 10-year-old self, too.
Some monster was being teleported to us (like Stitch was here) and was very ferocious and broke free. Then, the lights went out with occasional moments of strobe-like flashing lights and moments where the monster appeared to drool on you and breathe on you for a great long while. I was totally afraid and when the attraction ended, my mom (who was watching my sister) said that she could hear me screaming from the waiting area she was at. Even though X-Terror is closed, I still consider it to be one of the most frightening rides, not just in Disney World, but in ANY amusement park!
Think Stitch's Great Escape is frightening and unpleasant? Thank your lucky stars that you didn't go on it's predecessor!
I heard that stitch's great escape is sadly closing down
Yeah it's being replaced by a show/ride from Wreck it Ralph from what I heard.

ItsJust Emma they could try to do something like a rollercoaster but they make it look/ seem like you’re surfing like they do in the movie. Or the could do something that incorporates stitch’s spaceship. Idk but I think they could do something really cool.
I agree

I'm glad visuals of this exist, because while it was still running I could never scrounge up enough money to go to Florida *and* pay to get into Disney World at the same time.
This is one of the first Disney rides I remember being on.
This ride is the reason I’m traumatized and can’t even watch stitch. I got stuck in this ride. I can still hear my poor little 6 year old self screaming because I was so scared
awww Stitch is adorable
I went on this when i was like 7 years and i was so scared i cried and had to go out
Stitch's Great Escape is suppoused to be a prequel to the movie but there's one big continuity error that contradicts this: At the start of Lilo and Stitch, during Jumba's trial when Stitch (by this time as Experiment 626 as Stitch is a name that Lilo gives him when she adopts him later) is revealed, Captain Gantu looks shocked at him and exclaims "What is that monstrosity?!". If he was tasked with making sure 626 was guarded and therefore knew about him, he wouldn't react to that and would somewhat know what he is capable of doing (as he saw what damage he did in the teleportation chamber). Other things that would suggest this not being canon is that they wouldn't have used the DNA tracking laser turrets when transporting him to the Deserted Asteroid for his lifelong detention, cuz it would be too stupid to make the same mistake twice (Gantu would be too smart for that). Also while it's not known that there teleportation devices within the universe of Lilo and Stitch (correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't seen all episodes of Lilo and Stitch the series, only a couple), if they could teleport Stitch, why not teleport him directly to that place instead of having to transport him in Gantu's flagship? Also Stitch gets teleported to Earth. Since in the movie, Stitch was so dang hard to capture especially with of the aliens try to stay out of sight or disguised from humans and refraining to use weaponry as according to Pleakley's facts, humans are the food source to the endangered mosquito, therefore cannot be killed or harmed. Also Florida is way more vastly populated compaired to Kauaʻi, Hawaii, making it much harder for the aliens to catch 626, especially around the populated visited area of Orlando where Disney World is located. Not to menton all the big cities and vast country of USA where 626 has the potential to escape and hide, unlike Kaua'i which is more cut off in compairisson.
All those facts don't add up with the movie and therefore it simply can't be consindered canon.
Stitch Great Escape is my second favorite atracttion in Magic Kingdom(Space Mountain is first)
Yeah Space Mountain is pretty awesome. They put some new Star Wars effects into that ride when they changed it to Hyperspace Mountain.

I remember the first time me and my family went on this ride or simulation idk what you would call this but anyway so when stitch squirted the water it hit my grandmother's glasses and stained the lenses plus when stitch grabbed my shoulders its scared the shit out of me
I loved that in Disney world
Rebecca Kerr to bad it is closing forever on Jan 3, but I'm happy I'm going on the first to see him before he is gone.
for people who haven't seen the old version of the ride before they updated it. People actually died in this ride because you used to spin extremely fast around stitch. After that they shut down the ride they redid it and now its just an entertainment thing to watch
None of the shows occupying this space ever had moving seats (Flight to the Moon, Mission to Mars, Alien Encounter, Stitch). You have nothing to gain from lying about it, so why make up bullshit?
story general it was alien encounter and then they redid it to stitch
All I remember is being spit on 😂😂😂
My uncle was next to me during my ride and when he got spit on I couldn't stop laughing for the entire time! I am going to miss this...
That Was great bro😀👍✌️
I know someone who was injured on this ride! They shut it down I have heard.
It's closing not because of injuries, but because it's just not good. It's usually one of the lowest rated attractions on Disney property, and constantly gets panned in reviews by both critics and guests.
Oh my god, I remember that ride so well! It was amazing, even though I was 12 at the time. It was thrilling to me, and it's kinda disappointing that they are going to take the ride off in most parks.
I remember screaming on this ride lol
I love this ride
when I was in the queue for this attraction I was fine but when we were in our seats I was kinda panicking I don't really remember much but this is just what I remember, so Stitch appeared on the tube thing, I don't remember the story or I wasn't paying attention to the story so Stitch spits but I don't remember if I got hit or not and yada yada yada Stitch escapes and I was scared for life.
I was in the back so I could hear Stitch giggling from behind, I was crying and trying to get out of my seat and I don't remember if my mom tried to cheer me up or not, when the attraction was done I cried and told my mom that was HORRIBLE
and I never rode that ever again. The End :3

It's a dream come true for you and me
So there's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
Shining at the end of every day
There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
Just a dream away
I remember this when I was little I miss going thare
When I was younger this ride scared the sh*t out of me
I went on this ride with my little brother back in 2014 and he was super young and had super bad ADHD and sensory issues and when he burped he freaked out and was crying and wanting to get out
